Salzburg Rail from Salzburg to Prague
Posted: Sat July 12, 2008 04:00 PM UTC
We are heading to Germany, Austria, and Prague for our honeymoon in December.

Most of the trip will be by rental car. That is until we get to Salzburg where we will drop it off and take another form of transport into Prague.

We are having a hard time figuring out Rail schedules, where they go, prices, etc.

Does anyone have any info on getting from Salzburg to Prague by rail or other alternatives? We are hoping to leave in the morning around 8 or 9 am, so we can get to our hotel in Prague at a reasonable time.

Salzburg Tickets for Marionettentheater
Posted: Sat July 12, 2008 08:09 AM UTC
Hi, I'll be visiting Salzbug in 31.7.2008,
and would like to see a show in Marionettentheater.

I found the Nutcracker at 17:00.

From you experience, is it necessary to make a pre-reservation for tickets,
or it is fine to but just before the performance?

Salzburg Best way to travel from Munich to Salzburg?
Posted: Mon June 9, 2008 02:36 AM UTC
Myself, my husband, and three teen children will be flying into Munich at 16:30 on July 16 because it was quite a bit cheaper to fly there from Stockholm than to fly directly to Salzburg (our destination). I can find train schedules on the Deutsche Bahn website, but would like to compare the price and schedule of taking a bus. Where could I find that on the Internet? And should I even consider the bus?

We will be returning to Munich that Friday to continue our vacation (by renting a car and visiting a relative in Bavaria). Would it be better to get round trip tickets from Munich to Salzburg & back? Are tickets easy to get on the spot or should I buy them ahead of time online?

Thanks for any advice,
Trish

Salzburg Accomodation for EURO 2008
Posted: Sun March 30, 2008 01:56 AM UTC
Hello!
I will be going to Salzburg as a volunteer for the EURO 2008 (around 9-20th June). I am really excited but all accomdation is booked out during this time.
Can anyone suggest any accomodation in the city?
I know it might be a long shot, but a local website which would list room rentals for a couple of weeks would be ideal.
Thanks!

Salzburg traveling in salzburg
Posted: Tue March 18, 2008 12:56 AM UTC
hello there! i'll be going to salzburg on the 21st of april until the 24th. I am quite skeptical about taking the sound of music tour and im thinking of hiring a car for a day to go to all the places such as the sound of music tour.
will it be more convenient to hire a car or to take public transport around salzburg? and also what are the places that would be a sin to miss in salburg? :)
is there any recommendation for a hostel in salzburg?
and i'm planning to spend a full day to go to vienna, any recommendations there?
thx!

Salzburg Salzburg to Vienna
Posted: Fri February 29, 2008 11:50 AM UTC
Hello VT members,

I am now starting to plan our trip to Austria in May. We will be flying into Salzburg on 10 May at 9.30pm. So far the plan is to spend 3 nights in Salzburg, 1 night in Hallstatt, 3 nights in Vienna and 3 nights in Prague. I would appreciate any advice and help on the following:

1) cheap accomodation in Salzburg, and Vienna.
2) things to do in Salzburg and Vienna.
3) train fares and times to Hallstatt, Vienna and Prague.

Thank you for your advice.

Salzburg Help in planning salzburg trip
Posted: Thu February 28, 2008 04:01 AM UTC
Hi, My friend and I will be visiting salzburg in 3 wks and will need some advice planning my trip. I have 5 full days in total, and I'm thinking of spending the first 1 1/2 days in munich, den a train down to salzburg (I'm flying into munich, flying out of salzburg)

In the 3 and a half days in Salzburg, I would like to cover the following

1) sound of music attractions (tour?)
2) Salt Mine (tour?)
3) Mozart tour (is this worth it at 23 euros? or better to go by myself)
4) Visit the snow peaks and do something. (I dont mind spending a day on this. I have never skied or been to the snow peaks before. Would like suggestions on what to do.)

I read that Hallstatt is nearby, and on their website, there are links to snow related activites. It is also near the salt mine right? If so, is it better to go on the tours, or to cover it myself?

Also, It seems that snow buses from salzburg to the different snow peaks (different one each day?), as well as salt mines in salzburg. I am confuse about the difference between hallstatt and salzburg since they offer similar activities.

Can someone please advice me on how many as well as which tour I should go for? (saltmine.sound of music. mozart)Should I pay to go on the saltmine tour or to go for it myself? (do the tours cover the same area in the outskirts?)Should I go for all 3 tours and then plan a separate trip up to the snow mountains or what? I cannot drive and will thus need to rely on public transport. Anyway help will be greatly appreciated.

Posted: Mon February 4, 2008 07:34 PM UTC
Hi!

We have booked a trip to Munich/Salzburg in the beginning of June this year and I found it very difficult to find avaliable rooms in Salzburg on that period. So I was wondering if it will be something special then och is it just a regular summer-fever to start booking everything now and at that particular time?:-)
Thanks for your answers!

Salzburg Bus / Coach Travel to Munich
Posted: Mon December 24, 2007 06:48 AM UTC
I will be in Berchtesgaden in Germany and travel back via Munich on 9th January.
Train Drivers in Deutsch Bahn have give notice of a strike from 7th.
So my pre purchased rail ticker may be of little use.
Can anyone give information of Bus/Coach transport from Salzburg (Airport or City Centre) to Munich (Again Airport or City Centre).
Info with web addresses wound be especially helpful.
I feel a contingency plan rather than panic on the 8th might make a better end to our holiday
