Hi,

I will spend 6 days at the Rhone-Alpes region in mid-Sept. Here is my itinerary, pls give me some advice:

20/9 Paris --> Annecy (by train)
21/9 Annecy --> Charmonix (by car)
22/9 Charmonix --> Yvoire --> Evian-les-bains (by car)
23/9 Evian-les-bains
24/9 Evian-les-bains --> Lausanne --> Evian-les-bains (by boat)
25/9 Evian-les-bains --> Paris (by train?)

1. I want to know whether it is worth to go Charmonix in mid-Sept coz it seems that there is not much to see at Autumn.

2. Can I go to Evain-les-bains and Yvoire by train?

Many thanks!

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc Worth the trek out to Chamonix?
Posted: Tue August 12, 2008 09:23 PM UTC
Hi,
I've been staying in Lyon for a little while and I'm getting restless to try out some new places. Before I head south I was reading about some amazing trips to Chamonix and around the gondolas and I was wondering if anyone could offer some perspective/travel tips? I don't have a car so I know it would be a bit of a trek... Worth it?

Thanks for the help!

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc Brevant Gondola
Posted: Tue June 3, 2008 01:01 PM UTC
My son is running the Marathon du Mont Blanc on 29th June. We have heard the Brevant lift is closing until December 2008 is this correct. As the finish is on Planpraz and the runners at the finish and spectators would need to use the lift to get to and from Pranplaz will it still be open for the Marathon. Any information would help. Thank you.

Annecy Geneva Airport to Annecy-Transportation
Posted: Tue May 6, 2008 07:09 PM UTC
Please advise best transportation from Geneva to Annecy. We will not have a car.
The train schedules seem arduous. One recommendation was to take bus/tram from airport to Eaux Vives train station for the most direct journey to Annecy. Also,
any information about the bus appreciated. Does it run from the airport, how long
is the journey, etc?
Many thanks.

Les Paris Cycling up Alpe d' Huez
Posted: Mon March 17, 2008 05:21 PM UTC
My wife and I are spending 5 weeks in Europe (Groningen, Netherlands will be our base site) this summer. I want to try and get to Alpe D' Huez and ride up the famed mountain. My questions are: should I go to Grenoble (which is not far from Alpe D' Huez) by train? from Paris? or Gronigen? I am unable to ship my bicycle from USA therefore I need the name of a bike shop or travel agency who could help me with bike rental and hotel for 1 night. I want to ride the 15.29 KM either 10 days before the Tour de France riders go up this mountain; or after the Tour passes through the area. Thank you and any help/suggestions will be appreciated.
