Leaving tonight for a week in Nadi. Would love to spend the week fishing. I have read right through this forum and cant see one thing about fishing.
If anyone has any info please reply. Not so much into game fishing, would love a little boat I could sit out in and fish all day everyday, wouldnt mind somewhere I could go and cook my fresh fish for dinner each night either. thanks in advance |

| Fiji | Itinerary for 2 week stay in Fiji Posted: Fri April 18, 2008 04:57 AM UTC
Does anyone have a recommended itinerary for a 2 week stay in Fiji? Is it possible to explore the highlands in Viti Levu, visit a few islands in the Yasawas and the Lomaivitis? I would like to explore more of Fiji than just the resorts, but don't want to spend a lot of time and money traveling around.
Any recommendations? |

| Fiji | Accomodation in Yasawas Posted: Fri April 18, 2008 04:54 AM UTC
Hello,
I've started researching accomodations for a trip to Fiji in July. It seems that most of the choices are resorts, where all meals and drinks must be purchased while staying there. Are there other options, such as stores and backpacker cafes/bars? Also, it sounds like there isn't internet or ATM access on these islands, is this correct? Any information would be greatly appreciated! |

| Fiji | One Week Stay in Fiji--May 2008 Posted: Wed April 9, 2008 08:31 PM UTC
We have been living in New Zealand for a couple of months and have decided to extend our trip a week and go the Fiji before flying home to California. My husband and I have a 1 1/2 yr. old child and want safe accomodations, but also not overly expensive. My husband has been working very hard here in NZ and we are looking for a relaxing getaway. Can we find this in Fiji, or are we better off going to Hawaii instead? We have been to most of the Hawaiian islands and would like something different.
I have also noticed many travel warnings online and am concerned about our safety as Americans traveling to Fiji. Should I be concerned? Please help! |

| Fiji | Fiji trip in October Posted: Mon March 31, 2008 07:42 PM UTC
My wife and I are thinking about planning a trip to Fiji this October. We will be travelling with a few single friends. We know nothing about Fiji and are just beginning our research. We were wondering what part of the islands are best that time of year weather wise, and we also want to know where there is good nightlife for the single friends to meet guys/girls. Any insight will help.

| Fiji | Questions regarding long-term stay in Fiji Posted: Tue March 25, 2008 06:16 AM UTC
I received a 4 month sabbatical from work (my husband and I run nonprofits in Alaska) and my husband, 2 year old twins and I are planning to spend our time in Fiji. We are mostly interested in finding a place to live verses lots of traveling around. So are looking for a longterm rental. Any suggestions on islands and any advice on how to find a longterm rental. Do you think we need to have it lined up before we go or could we get a week long and find a place once we are there? Are prices better once you are there verses on internet? Any ideas on prices. We would like 1 to 2 bedrooms, close to a nice calm beach, kitchen... We will be there Sept through Dec 08. Thanks for any advice.
Oh also another poster says the beaches in Fiji have lots of sharp shells and not nice sand? Any truth to that. First I heard of it but want to make sure not the case as young kids a foot.... |

| Fiji | Surf Destination - mid April Posted: Mon March 24, 2008 07:16 AM UTC
Hi all,
Looking for good vibes, waves and economical accomodations for 7 days this April. My buddy and I would like to spend less than $150 USD per day for food & lodging, boat transfers to waves. Can it be done, and where? Looking into Mana islands and Mana Surf services for transport but open to any, all suggestions. Wherever it is, it needs to be a boat ride away from Nadi, no funds for airfare. Thanks in advance for your time! Andrew |

| Fiji | Wedding Suggestions for Son & Fiancee Posted: Mon March 10, 2008 11:18 AM UTC
My son and his fiancee have decided they would like to be married in Fiji in the second half of 2009. Budget will be an issue for them and some guests.
They don't want a big sit down reception in a 4/5 star resort which they can do in Australia. They would prefer something more laid back and with a local flavor. Would appreciate any suggestions on what, where, how - they can make their dream come true. They have never been to Fiji and I have not visited for over 30 years. |

| Fiji | Fiji in May - one week! Where to go/stay etc!! HELP Posted: Mon March 3, 2008 10:15 AM UTC
Two friends and I are going to be stopping off in Fiji for one week in May during our RTW trip. We are on a budget but want to get as much out of our short stay on the islands as possible.
We are keen to experience the real Fiji, and don't want a totally drunk backpacker type stay ( i have got the impression this is what Beachcomber is like?) however, we are keen to meet some other backlpackers so a mix would be good! Any recommendations would be more than welcome, and any info on best places to do PADI or scuba would also be ace... If you're there at the same time as us, then get in touch! xxxx |

| Fiji | Which Island? Posted: Tue February 19, 2008 10:43 AM UTC
Fiji looks absolutely amazing and I have included it on a round the world trip.. Can anyone suggest which is the best island to visit above others on a 2 and a half week visit? (Hostel accomodation/price equivalent) On a £30 budget per day. Unmissable sights? Activities to do? I am 25 so like adventure and sports as well as completely relaxiation if that helps? Thanks in advance to anyone who is helping me out!

| Fiji | I will pay for fijian trinket necklace Posted: Wed February 6, 2008 03:14 PM UTC
I am trying to rebuy a necklace that I bought in fiji a few years back. Its a 2 inch by 1 inch cannibalistic tool replica made from fishbone and is the tool that looks like a spear. I found it in shops in Nadi but you can probably get it in Suva as well. I am willing to reimburse you and more, which we can negotiate. I paid $5 USD/$10 FJD for the necklace when I bought it 4 years ago, although a friend of mine paid over double that, because he isn't as good of a negotiator!! If this is something you are able to do, please email me at jay @ brewpot(dot)com and put in the subject "Fiji necklace." Thanks so much!

| Nadi | Family Accomodation in Pacific Harbour Posted: Sun December 30, 2007 02:36 AM UTC
Hi,
My husband and two adult children will be travelling to my son's wedding 26th April being held at Pearl Pacific Harbour. I would prefer to book accommodation for the 4 of us and would like recommendations in that area. It works out too expensive booking two single rooms. . Does anyone know of any villas or hotels that cater for numbers greater than 3? Not looking for backpacker accommodation, mid-range price is good. We will need to attend the wedding so would need to be in good proximity for 26th. At this stage we intend on staying there for 3 nights and travelling to other parts of Fiji for another few days. |

| Nadi | Where's a good place to stay as a "base camp" Posted: Thu December 20, 2007 02:53 PM UTC
My wife and I will be traveling to Nadi for 4 days and 3 nights. When I planned the trip to Fiji as an add-on to out Australia/NZ cruise I knew little more than it was a tropical island. I've been to Hawaii twice and expected similarities. I've come to find that they are very different.
First, it appears from what I have read on other forums that Viti Levu is probably not the prettiest of the many islands that comprise Fiji. So I am planning to stay somewhere and take at least one day-long excursion to one of the other islands. This outfit called South Sea Cruises seems like what we are looking for since they depart from Nadi, but I haven’t decided which island that they serve would be best for us. We are looking for natural scenic beauty. Also, we will probably need to float to an island rather than fly because of the added expense of air travel. I came very close to making a big mistake by almost booking at a resort in Suva, which I found is on the other side of the island from Nadi. We will have lots of luggage from our trip so we are looking for lodging where we can dump our stuff and then do some excursions. It would be nice to stay at a waterfront resort if there is a good one that is reasonable. We are not needing luxury since we will probably spend only about half the time at the resort. However, we want more than a hostel, which appear to be plentiful in Fiji. I’m hoping to stay in the 100 – 150 USD/nite range, but could go a little more for a really good bargain. I’ve seen a few for less than 100 USD that look good on the internet, but I don’t want to stay in a dump or somewhere that may not be safe. I’ve read that crime can be bad in some places – especially Suva at night. So I’ll stop here to avoid too long of a post. Basically I’m looking for some place close to the airport and if possible that offers transportation to Denarau which is where the South Sea Cruises depart for our day-trip. Any advice on any of this and other stuff to do on Viti Levu will be helpful and appreciated. We probably will take an excursion to the inner part of the island if there are any rain-forest parks or other scenic beauty. Our favorite Hawaii island is Kauai (garden island) to give you an idea of what we’re looking for. We’ll be at the mercy of local transportation so that is a consideration also. A couple of short hikes (1-5 miles) in scenic areas would be great. Thanks for your thoughts/help/advice. |

| Fiji | weddingmoon advice? Posted: Sat December 15, 2007 05:07 AM UTC
i'm having a very tough time trying to decide where to have my destination wedding/honeymoon. i can't even pick the country! LoL right now i'm trying to decide between fiji, tahiti, st. lucia, antigua, and the granadines.
so i'm looking for a little advice. the perfect resort will more than likely sell the location for me. what i want: an all inclusive wedding or somewhere that has decent priced wedding packages so i won't have to really plan or stress over my wedding. a gorgeous beach. warm weather. i'm hoping to find somewhere with warm beaches so i can actually get in the water without freezing. a romantic getaway, preferably not with a bunch of children running around or crowded beaches. so i'm wanting to know if any of you can help me out! do you have any places you recommend? any resorts that blew you away? an unforgettable beach? if you know a specific resort that you love, did you see any weddings take place and was the location beautiful? ANY advice to steer me in the right direction of specific locations/resorts to actually look more into would be greatly appreciated! |
