From Bath to Heatrow by public transport Posted: Tue March 13, 2007 05:58 AM UTC
Hello, I need to get from Bath to Heathrow by 1:00 PM on a Wednesday in September. I checked the Brit Rail site, and it says I can take a train leaving Bath around 11 AM, and can arrive at Heathrow by about 1 PM. However, the details state that the first part of the journey is by rail, but then we must take a bus from Reading to Heathrow.
Has anybody here ever done this? If so, is the transfer from train to bus fairly straightforward in Reading, and is the bus known to usually run on schedule? Otherwise, does anyone know of an easier way to get to Heathrow from central Bath (for four adults)?
Thanks!

Winter activities in Bath Posted: Tue January 9, 2007 05:45 PM UTC
My daughter and I will be traveling to London the end of this week. We are considering taking a day trip to Bath while we are in London. We were planning on taking the day trip on a Monday. I know January is way off the tourist season the UK so I was wondering if most of the musuems and sites in Bath are open in January. I have been looking in Google but can not find out a lot about winter months.

Bathwick Cemeteries Posted: Mon April 24, 2006 12:20 PM UTC
Although this sounds a bit macabre we will be in Bath later this year, visting from Wetern Australia. I understand my husband's ancestor died in BATH and was buried Bathwick Cemetery about 1838. We'd like to visit his grave, any ideas as to what the most likely cemetery would be?

What to see and do in 2 hours? Posted: Sat April 8, 2006 09:18 AM UTC
Hi all,
I'm going to be driving by Bath and would probably stop by there for a short break for lunch.
What should I see and do during this sojourn of 2 hours or less?
What would be the must-see of this place and are there places of interest with free entry for students? :)
Thank you for helping me plan my trip!
smiles,
Francesca

cornwall Posted: Sun October 30, 2005 12:09 AM UTC
Hi
Im interested in doing a walk for a week or 2. Flying to London around the start of May.
Catch a train to somewhere like Cornwall area (a good satarting point needed) and then hikin. I know that Bristish weather an be unpredictable but May seems like a better time to be there? I want to use a tent and B&B when i need a shower. Will i have problems with tenting? Are there camping grounds or do it just ask a farmer for some place in the paddock?
I would appreciate any help.

bath or bath+bristol? Posted: Fri September 2, 2005 10:25 PM UTC
Hello,
we're planning a short trip to Salisbury, Stonehenge and Bath - 4 or 5 days.
The initial idea was to spend 1 day in bath and another in Bristol, but after surfing in the web, I guess a day is maybe too short for Bath. Would 2 days be enough to visit the city relaxed? Is Bristol worth a day?
Which is better - faster and more frequent connections - (train or coach) to go from Bath to Salisbury? Are there coaches or guided tours to Stonehenge from Bath?
Any other tips for the visit or for accommodation are also welcome.
Thanks,
Susana.

Can local Bathonians speak to guided tours? Posted: Thu September 1, 2005 03:48 AM UTC
My husband and I are excitedly planning our first trip to the UK, and have booked 2 nights at Talbot's in Mells. We want to see Bath, Salisbury, Avebury, and of course, Stonehenge. Is there some really excellent tour company that you think highly of? I have corresponded with British Tours, Ltd., and they are clearly outstanding, but pricey. Any thoughts?

I was wondering what the easiest and cheapest way to get from Bristol Airport to Bath would be. Train, Bus, or Taxi? Any approximate cost information would be helpful.

Pls advise good B&B in Bath in city centre. Posted: Sun June 5, 2005 03:35 PM UTC
Pls advise good B&B in Bath in city centre.
Wow. Bath has so many B&B's that I am not sure which to book. I am travelling alone so looking for a place in the town centre where I can enjoy Bath nightlife as we being close to the attractions, bars and restaurants. My budget is between £40 to £70 midweek.
Can anyone suggest a good B&B based on these criteria
Thanks
Darren.

Cheap Accomodation and Travel... Posted: Sun October 17, 2004 03:47 PM UTC
Hello VTers! Over Halloween weekend I am going to be in Bristol (Friday morning to Monday night). I'm planning on doing Bath and Stonehenge in the same day. I was going to operate this trip from Bristol but think it may be wiser to stay the night in Bath.
So my two questions are: -Are there any good cheap hostels or hotels which can be reccomended? -And secondly, what is the easiest way to travel from Bath to Stonehenge?
Thank you all very much, ~Andrew

Bristol to Bath n back! Posted: Thu October 7, 2004 10:39 PM UTC
Ok, thought I'd try here before I tackled railway timetables etc! I'm in Bristol for Work, Wed to Thurs next week. I've booked into Bristol Backpackers Hostel for Thurs night. Fri I'd like to see a bit of Bristol, then head to Bath, before returning to Temple Mead Station, to catch my train back to Sheffield. How often are trains TM Bristol-> Bath, How much is a return ticket, and how long is the journey??
Also, any recommendations for meal/pub etc for single female to try Thur night. Fri I'm thinking of exploring Clifton and Zoo, any better ideas?? Thanks in advance, Sue XX

Hostels and Booking Bus Posted: Sun August 15, 2004 01:13 AM UTC
Hi everyone, I am currently planning on coming to Bath for 2 nights and was wondering what the best hostel in Bath is. I've found some different opinions and places, but thought I could use more help. Also, as I am coming from London do you think that I should book the bus to Bath in advance or whether it likely wouldn't be a problem to get a ticket the day of. Thanks for any help, it's greatly appreciated.

I've just booked a hot air balloon flight over Bath next Saturday evening, and (with difficulty) the night in a hotel. Do any VTers have up-to-date tips on other special things to do/ places to eat and drink?
Thanks in advance, Robin

How much time for Bath? Posted: Sun August 10, 2003 01:19 PM UTC
Starting to allocate my time for about 5 days in London area. Definitely want to spend 1 or 2 days in nearby countryside. Wondering if Bath deserves a half day or full day (I love old buildings) and whether it should be done as a direct day trip from London, or included as a stop on a packaged tour that would hit 2 or 3 other places? Which packaged tour is the best (i.e. reasonably informative and less hurried?)? Tnx.
