Bristol temple meads station to airport - help!
Posted: Sun June 4, 2006 08:04 PM UTC
i have a 7:15am flight out of bristol airport, of which checkin closes at 6:45. The only train i can get in the morning from cardiff is due to arrive at temple meads station at 5:37am. How far away is the airport from here? what is my best option to get there? i can see info for an internation flyer bus which leaves at 5:50 and arrives at 6:10, or if i miss that one then 6:10 to 6:30. how much would a taxi cost? would it be quicker?

Bristol Bristol reunion
Posted: Tue May 2, 2006 09:46 PM UTC
hi,

Grew up in Bristol, only been back a few times, and am planning a reunion for a weekend in july. Although getting too old for it, we fancy a night out clubbing. Pubs we can just revisit old haunts, but clubbing has probalby changed beyond all recognition. I'd like something more dancy, but still quite big, along the lines of Fabric in london. Does such a place exist? Any going out tips appreciated. I saw 'the Depot' reviewed on "Doc Strange" VT sight. Any more info on it? Any tips welcome, seems funny asking VT about a UK place!

Bristol Advise needed
Posted: Thu October 27, 2005 01:53 PM UTC

I currentley live in London, but considering moving up to Bristol (quite soon, possibly). I would be looking to move into a shared house in one of the nicer areas, and hoping to get work asap. I'm temping at the moment but this is my last week, but can't afford to leave it too long as I don't want to spend any unnecessary amounts of money. Any agencies that you could recommend that I could get in touch with?

Thanks in advance

Bristol Accommodation for 6 people
Posted: Mon August 15, 2005 05:27 PM UTC
Hi there

I'm looking for an apartment to rent for two days in November, with a group of 5 friends. We're all professional girls looking to have a nice, fun, pampering weekend.

Ideally, we would like an apartment to sleep 4-6 of us, as we can also bring along some airbeds if necessary. Where should I look? Days Inn has no availability for the weekend in question.

Thanks in advance!

Bristol Stansted Airport - Bristol
Posted: Tue July 26, 2005 04:02 PM UTC
What's the cheapest way to get from Stansted Airport to Bristol?

I've just have a look on the homepage of nationalexpress.
But 40 GBP/person seems to be expensive in the opposite of hireing a car.
Do anyone have some experience?

Hi - i am a young 30yr old designer just moved to Bristol from London and have only just realised that Bristol has NO clothes shops for me??????
Can someone please explain where they are????????
Do NOT say Park St because i've been and they aren't there (apart from the one Motel??dna???at the bottom which is quite nice)
I grew up in Bristol and 10 years ago i would go to london to do my shopping please tell me somethings changed??
Any shops planning on coming here???????????
Clifton sells stuff for the over 45's, broadmead for the chavs?(sorry i do love a chav but i don't do that look well) so where does a reasonably stylish 30 yr old go?????????

Bristol Restaurants
Posted: Wed February 16, 2005 03:15 PM UTC
Hi,

I'm staying at Thornbury castle next week, and on the Friday night we were hoping to go out of the castle for dinner. It's difficult to find somewhere local so thought we'd broaden the horizons a bit. Can anyone recommend a mid price restaurant within 15 mins drive of Thornbury? Chain restaurants are fine such as Prezzo and the modern Italians, or any other modern restaurant, but not over run with students is great too.

I looked at Brown but noticed it's near University Road, does this mean it's full of students? No offence, but I was one once, and I know what you're like!

Any ideas/weblinks?

Bristol Weekend in Bristol
Posted: Fri February 4, 2005 12:16 PM UTC
Hi,

I'm coming down with 3 lads to Bristol next Friday (11th) and want to get a game of golf in before hitting the bars - can anyone recommend a good golf course?

We're staying at the Premier Lodge and meeting up with some other friends on Saturday for a buddy's stag day/night - any suggestions for entertainment during the day and good places to go at night.

Not too sure about flat out Nightclubs cos we're all a bit long in the tooth now - in our early thirties!!!

Cheers

Bristol South of England; friendly? laid back?
Posted: Sun January 2, 2005 06:32 PM UTC
Hey all

ive just signed up today after stumbling across VT on google..

anyway it seems like a wicked site, so many people from whatever area i look under.

i currently live in the west midlands (coventry) but want to meet more friendly people, and enjoy a more laid back way of living to how it is here

ive heard several people say how different people down south are; 'friendly' 'chatty' etc

probably starting to sound quite naive now but what the heck..

is this true then? i want to visit some of the biggish towns down south like Bristol, Brighton and Plymouth

cheers

Bristol Dollar Academy, Bristol

Hello all Vts'
I have been trying to get someone @ Dollar Academy to help and so far no luck.
I am doing a family research and hence found two or more of my Great Uncles and possibly Grandfather
had attended this Academy.

Of course this was all before WW2 possibly in the early 30's?
Does anyone has any idea or know someone there to help?

I am in Canada. Thank you all!

Bristol Unfurnished flats
Posted: Sun March 23, 2003 09:56 PM UTC
Hi all!

We're planning to move to the UK sometime this year. I've been told that most flats in the UK come furnished -- right down to linen and pictures on the wall!

Is this true?

In NZ flats are almost always unfurnished and I prefer this -- I'd rather use my own stuff than the landlord's rejected stuff!

Are unfurnished flats easily found? Are they cheaper than the furnished flats?

Thanks!
S.
