From Cardiff Bay to the city centre Posted: Fri June 19, 2009 09:39 AM UTC
I am staying in the Cardiff bay area for a couple of nights next month, I have heard that the area between Cardiff bay and the city centre is a bit rough and not safe at night, is this true? How long does it take to walk? If not which is the best method of transport to take? I will be having a short brak with my girlfriend, which pubs or restaurants can anyone recommend?

Visiting Cardiff from Georgia Posted: Thu May 21, 2009 10:16 PM UTC
VT member rexvaughan and his wife Sacra are visiting Cardiff all the way from Georgia, USA (well, I think that is where Decatur is!!) on 29-31 May.
I have suggested having a small gathering on Saturday evening, certainly to sample some of cardiff's fine ales, but also possibly to have a bite to eat.
Anyone else interested? If so, leave a reply here or send me a VT email. It has been a while since the last VT gathering in Cardiff and there may be some new peeps in the area that I've never met and, who knows, might want to seize the chance to meet some real, live, fellow VT members...

Dining out in Cardiff Posted: Mon April 6, 2009 02:50 PM UTC
Hi all!
I am going to be in Cardiff with a friend on Easter Sunday and Monday (12-13th) April. Any suggestions for eating out? Our budget is about £40 a meal, but we can go up to £60-70 for something really special. We don't want to go the chain restaurant route, e.g. ASK, Pizza Express, etc.
Thanks in advance!

Lads weekend in Cardiff Posted: Wed April 1, 2009 07:00 PM UTC
hi all Welsh speaking VTR'S ;-)
We are planning a stag weekend in Cardiff in September. We are having an afternoon at Chepstow races on the Frdiay,Comedy Club Friday night, and a morning clay pigeon shooting the following day.The rest of our time I would guess will be spent frequenting local pubs and bars.
Are there any bars that we should try to avoid,we are not youngsters, all are 40+,so we are not stupid, but we want to sample the nightlife Cardiff has to offer, without any aggro. We're not clubbers, but enjoy decent music and the craic.
Any tips would be appreciated
cheers

Budget/Hostel Accomodation in Cardiff Posted: Mon March 2, 2009 05:07 PM UTC
A friend and I will be staying in Cardiff for a few days in April, but are students on a budget. Any suggestions as to where we can stay? Our range is £20-40 a night, tops! Cheap B&Bs, hostels (preferably with double rooms) and any other suggestions welcome/desperately sought.
Thanks in advance!

London to Cardiff by bus Posted: Tue May 6, 2008 11:23 PM UTC
Hi,
I'm planning on taking a national express coach from London to Cardiff soon but my girlfriend is convinced that this is a bad idea. She thinks that it will take ages and be very uncomfortable. I think that it will only be a few hours and surprisingly comfortable. Also, it's far cheaper than going by rail. Can anybody tell me if taking the bus is a good idea or is it a nightmare like my girlfriend thinks it is? Appreciate any help on this!
Thanks.

Spending summer in Cardiff Posted: Fri January 18, 2008 10:57 AM UTC
Myself and a couple of friends are thinking of working for the summer in Britain. There're a few cities we are considering going to and to help us narrow our (very long list) I was just wondering if anyone would like to offer some input as to whether or not Cardiff would be a good choice for the summer.
We'd be looking for somewhere where
- Job availibility won't be a problem
- A decent nightlife for 20 year olds
- Cheap cost of living, or at least, not expensive
- There's a nice amount of touristy things to do.
Edinburgh, for example, is exactly the kind of place I'm looking for, but I've already visited it, so would like to try somewhere new
Really, REALLY appreciate feedback!

Somewhere nice to eat? Posted: Fri September 7, 2007 09:08 AM UTC
Hi
We are going to see the Police at the Millenium Stadium in October, and are staying in Newport Holiday Inn Express. We would like to eat somewhere nice before the gig. Any suggestions? Should we travel to the stadium and eat near there? The gates open at 4.30pm so we would like somewhere that serves late afternoon but that is good and semi special as we are celebrating birthdays too.
Please help.
xx

Transport after rugby world cup quarter-final in Cardiff Posted: Thu August 9, 2007 02:46 PM UTC
Hi I am going to the quarter-final rugby world cup game in Cardiff on the 6th of October. I couldn't get accommodation in Cardiff, so I am staying in Bristol, thinking I would be able to get a train after the game. I just checked train times, and it seems the last train is at 9.55pm, which is too early. Does anyone know if there are plans to put more trains on line? Any other suggestions for transport back to Bristol at about 11pm? Thanks,
K

Rugby World Cup- accomodation (14th- 17th Sept) Posted: Tue April 3, 2007 08:56 AM UTC
Hi i am after after cheap accomodation (for myself and two others) for the 14th- 17th september (Rugby World Cup). if any one has any advice or know of any options it would be much appreciated. Is Cardiff Uni an option to stay? We are not after anything to flash, but some where which is relatively close to the stadium, and that gives us a place to sleep. It seems accomodation is at a premium for this period, so any help people could give would be invaluable. Send me an email if u could. cheers.
