Bay of Islands 2 days to Bay of Islands
Posted: Thu July 19, 2007 12:51 AM UTC
We will be in Auckland for a couple of days before our cruise. Would we be better to take a commercial tour to the Bay of Islands or to hire a car and drive ourselves?

Northland How long does it take .. how far ...
Posted: Tue January 2, 2007 01:14 PM UTC
Hi! Trying to plan my time here. Hope someone can help.
Q1: How far (time and distance)if we drive via the west coast (Dargaville, Opinoni..) from Auckland to Ahipara. Including the ferry from Rawene to Kohukohu, EXCLUDING waiting time for ferry, stopping to gape at the awesome Tane Mahuta, Hokianga Harbour, etc.. etc...
Q2: In terms of shorter distance and time, which is shorter .... Auckland- Whangarei-Dargaville or Auckland-Matakohe-Ruawai-Dargaville

Thanks :)

Whangarei Help I'm a Fish!!
Posted: Thu November 25, 2004 03:42 PM UTC
I'm flying into Auckland on Feb 11th 2005 for my first visit to NZ, .... so, I'm trying to find someone who can help me to find a scuba diving tour to the Poor Knights, while my travel partner attends her friends wedding in Christchurch. I am considering getting a flight to Whangerei, but the one dive shop in that area that I called for prices quoted me $180NZ for 2 dives....... is this the usual price?? Its much more expensive than what I usually pay at other destinations.

Secondly, if there are any friendly divers in that vacinity who think they would like to buddy with me for some innocent fun and socialising then drop me a line.

Paihia Paihia for New Years 2005
Posted: Thu October 7, 2004 05:04 AM UTC
I am going to be traveling in New Zealand during New Years and had heard Paihia was a good place to be. I found out about a concert held at Haruru falls each year but can not find anything about this coming new years. Could anyone tell me if it is still on for this year (sponsered by Export Gold i think) and where to find it. If not can anyone tell me if anything is happening in Paihia or where a better place for New Years would be. Thank you very much. I would appriciate any help i can get.

Bay of Islands Birthday Bash at Bay of Islands
Posted: Tue February 3, 2004 06:09 AM UTC
A gang of us - all schoolmates 20 years ago are planning for a birthday bash with many of us flying in from Australia, New York and some from Asia (like myself) for an overnight Auckland and then on drive to Bay of Islands.

I am looking for tips on whereabout to stay, dine and pamper ourselves. Money issue is secondary; we just wanna have a memorable week together.
