Just a quick reminder that Tattugran will soon be gracing the UK with her presence and, by way of welcome, we will be meeting up with her in Chester on Saturday, 3 July.

We would love to see you there!
If you're attending and will arrive on Friday evening, drop me a line as I will be there then - maybe we could hook up?

I'd like to know the best things for us to see during a short trip to Chester. Are there any must-see National Trust places, museums etc.? Also, if someone could recommend a terrific restaurant in the city itself for dinner, that would also be welcome.
Thanks!

We're thinking of a little trip to explore Chester. If you know of a very nice hotel or B&B (preferably not far from the city centre), I'd love a few names.
We wouldn't want to spend more than £90 or so a night if possible.
Thanks in advance.

why do people flock from all over the world to look at this tacky clock? I live in chester and i don't understand why millions of tourists have to take pics of it in the middle of the street and get in the way! It's a hidious clock, so please tell me why people are so amazed by it?

I'm looking for a shuttle service, coach/bus company, other than National Express, from Gatwick (London) to Chester (Manchester). Trains are too complicated and British Airways are the only carrier direct- unfortunately times unsuitable on Saturdays.

Hi! I'm visiting Chester in late July. I wonder if the car boot sale at the rugby club is still on on those dates, and what day of the week is it?
Are there any other big car boot sales around??
Thanx!

I am planning to visit Chester for 2 days in June. Can any one recommend a good value bed and breakfast?
I'm fed up with the ridiculous cost of hotels in the UK which are generally a complete rip-off and are geared to catering for business types. Excuse me for ranting! Any help would be very much appreciated.

I was looking into staying at the Chester Backpackers Hostel for a few days while I visited Manchester and Liverpool. Does anyone have any comment about the hostel or suggestions on must-see things in Chester itself? Thanks

Greetings fellow travellers. There are 12 adults all planing to meet for a weekend in Chester. We are a varied bunch, so specific places are out. (I'm a rock fan, but if we went to a rock pub, 11 of our group would be unhappy). We are there Friday & Saturday in late April. Where should we drink? and where should we avoid? Accomodation is sorted in the CH2 area and we'll be walking.(or staggering if you catch me driff)

Does anyone have comments regarding the hostels in Chester? Is one better than the other in terms of location or other factor? Also, any comments on the Chester City Road Apartments at 16-18 City Road? They advertise double rooms at 11 BP per person per night.

Hello I am planning to go on a narrowboat cruise that departs from Chester and goes to Llangollen.. with the Dawn and Dusk ... I am looking forward to join them since I cannot walk large distances and I love to go on a boat . I will bring my scootie (a foldable little scootmobile) The advise is to travel from Amsterdam to Manchester Int Airport.. I would like to know how much the cab fair would be from the Airport to a nice Hotel in the City Center or even better is there a hotel with shuttle service.. Furthermore I will have to back to Machester Int. Airport from Llangollen. Should I go by train to Chester and take a cab from there or does anyone have a better option Thanks in advance Louise

I will be residing in Chester for 4 months beginning in September of this year. Is there public bus transportation in Chester? Is there a bus that makes a stop at The Carden Park Hotel and Resort?
