Kangaroo Island Tour Posted: Sat April 26, 2008 09:06 PM UTC
Hi, I'm looking for an inexpensive 2-day tour of Kangaroo Island. I have seen that the Adelaide Youth Hostel offers a tour. Has anyone done this tour? Is it a quality tour? Alternatively, has anyone used the company Surf and Sun? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Adelaide to Alice Springs Posted: Fri April 25, 2008 08:05 AM UTC
Hi,
In July I would like to travel form Adelaide to Alice Spings by public transport. In between I was thinking about visiting Barossa Valley, Wilpena Pound and Coober Pedy. I have two questions about this:
- Can these destinations easily be reached by public transport (if yes, which service?) or is it better to skip?
- How long should I stay at these locations? Are there many interesting things to see and do?
Thanks in advance!

Car pool in Adelaide??? Posted: Thu April 10, 2008 02:35 PM UTC
Anyone know of a good way to organise a car pool in Adelaide?? I found a couple websites that match people up, but after registering with each of them, shock, horror, there is noone in Adelaide registered on their sites ... except ME!
Am I really the only person in Adelaide who wants to commute in a car pool??
If you live near Glenelg and work anywhere near North Terrace and you have a car but want some money for petrol and some company for the drive (I can drive too if you like) ... please let me know!! :)
It's so hard to be environmentally conscious these days! Public transport here in Adelaide is just shocking at the moment, I've had it up to here. The tram is always late and full and overpriced. I'm not upset enough (yet) to buy a car. ;)
Happy travels,
Daniele

New question Posted: Fri April 4, 2008 02:47 AM UTC
Hello,
Thank all of you for your replies to my first posting. I really appreciate your feedback!
I am traveling to Australia with my son who is 30 years old, and the situation is that we have had a difficult relationship in the past. This trip is an opportunity to let him know how much he means to me. We live near Los Angeles, CA., and I am not healthy and don't know if I will be able to travel in the future.
Thanks to your help, we have decided on our itinerary:
1. Arrive in Brisbane on 8/31/08
2. Leave Brisbane and arrive in in Adelaide on 9/3
3. Leave Adelaide and arrive in Melbourne on 9/5
4. Leave Melbourne and arrive in Sydney on 9/8
5. Leave Sydney on 9/13 and arrive in Los Angeles
We have already booked the flight and the hotels and I was wondering if I can get guidance on what we should do during our stays in these four locations.
My budget is limited but I feel that this is a once in a lifetime chance for us to have a second chance to re-develope our relationship. I want my son to remember this trip for the rest of his life and am so grateful that he agreed to it.
I am afraid that if we go there without knowing what we must see, I will surely regret it.
Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all of you for your kindness in this matter.

Kangaroo Island-bush fires? Do we go? Posted: Sun December 16, 2007 07:14 PM UTC
Hello,
I have arranged for a Sealink tour to Kangaroo Island the second week of January. With the recent bush fires, is this still safe? We could try to change our plans, but we leave for Australia this Friday.
Thanks,

Anyone keen for a VT meeting in Adelaide? Posted: Thu December 13, 2007 01:25 AM UTC
Hi! :)
Just checking to see if anyone is keen to have a VT meeting in Adelaide or Glenelg sometime in January? Please let me know if you want to suggest a place and/or date to get together. We can make it informal to share travel stories and tips. My husband and I just returned from a 12 month round the world trip.
In the meantime, have a wonderful Christmas and New Years!
Happy travels!

Where to stay and for how long? Posted: Mon August 13, 2007 11:37 PM UTC
Hello all,
I will be visiting Kangaroo Island mid-November this year, and I am wondering if anyone has any Bed and Breakfast recommendations. Also, do you think a two night stay is enough to really enjoy the area? I will be on a 3 week trip, so I am trying not to spread myself too thin. Any advice is appreciated. Cheers!

Adelaide - Where to Live Posted: Thu July 19, 2007 08:31 PM UTC
Hi All
My first question in a forum... here goes.
My family and I are planning to move to Adelaide early 2008.
We have 3 young children and are looking for quiet friendly places on the outskirts of Adelaide (near plenty of parks and close to a good private school). Preferable north, since my work is within the electronic engineering discipline and most jobs appear in the northern area.
Not bothered about living on the coast line, but would like property with a large garden.
Thank you for any help. rgd Robin

Driving in Kangaroo Island Posted: Wed July 11, 2007 10:50 PM UTC
Read from some guide books that some car rental companies in Adelaide do not allow their rental cars to be driven into Kangaroo Island. Is that anyone's experience?. We are planning a trip to Adelaide, the Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo island. Would be easier and I think cheaper if we can get a car from Adelaide airport for the whole journey and return at the airport.

Where to stay & what to do for a family with small children Posted: Thu July 5, 2007 11:05 AM UTC
We plan on visiting KI during mid Aug 2007. From what I am reading about KI, the best way to get there from Adelaide is to take the SEALINK Tourbus to Cape Jarvis and take the FERRY and then rent a car in Penneshaw. Please, anyone, correct me if I am wrong. This trip will be my husband and I and our two small daughters (4 and 5 years old). Of course, we are wanting to see all the parks we can, however, my kids just look forward to swimming in a pool. Do you suggest a hotel w/an indoor pool and if so, which one? Also, we have about 10 days for our trip, how many days would you recommend for KI and would you recommend spending any time in Adelaide. We are Americans living in Japan. My husband and I have been to Cairns and that area, but that is the only place in Australia. Any recommendations on how to plan this trip would be well received. I spend literally hours and hours trying to plan a trip before we go, but with two small children, it adds a lot more questions to what to do and where to go. If it were just me, I'm content just being lazy! Thanks in advance for any input.
