Totnes Self Contained Accommodation
Posted: Tue March 4, 2008 01:55 PM UTC
I'm going to be staying in Totnes with my wife and daughter for about three months this Autumn and I am wondering if anybody knows the best way to go about looking for a place rent.
By the way, I'm from the US and I'm not exactly sure what "self-contained accomodation" means!

Thanks for any replies!

Plymouth Anyone know Plymouth?
Posted: Fri November 2, 2007 07:14 PM UTC
I’m working in Plymouth next week (Mon-Fri) I’ve been before but I really don’t know the place.

I will be finished by mid-afternoon and looking for something to do in the evening, music (folk in particular) theatre or just good pubs, anything I aint fussy.

Anyone got any ideas or I am expecting too much it being mid week and early November?

Lundy Island How to get there..
Posted: Tue February 27, 2007 12:43 PM UTC
Hi,

I am planning a trip around the south of England and I would very much like to spend a night in Lundy. However, time is quite limited and we can only spend either the 12th or the 13th of April there, and there seems to be no boat service to the island on these dates (its a thursday and a friday). Does anybody know if you can get smaller, charter boats to take you to the island? I have found one website about this but they don't give much info at all.. Any help would be appreciated.

Devon Moving to North or Mid Devon
Posted: Thu September 29, 2005 04:23 PM UTC

I am thinking of moving to Tiverton area or possibly Barnstable. WHat is it like to live in this part of Devon? Are there plenty of jobs? What are the house prices like? Are the pubs & resturants any good? Do the tourists get in the way? Are there any good concert venues for rock bands? THsi is a big move for my family so I would love some honest views of peopel that live there or know the area well.
Thanks from an almost Brummie but deffiently landlocked!

Devon oh my am I in trouble !!!!!
Posted: Tue July 26, 2005 08:00 PM UTC
Unlike my moto I've left it till the last minute and I'm desperately trying to find a campsite in North Devon that will be able to accomodate my family an I, wk com 8th Aug. Although this is probably not the time to be shouting the odds, I have 3 boys aged 3-9 who are desperate to spend a week by a beach in our tent. We would also need an electrical hook up (for recharging the game-boys)and showers etc. I'd prefer not to go into one of those holiday parks but time is running out and it's starting to look grim. Please if you know of any sites that fit our criteria and have pitches available, let me know or it will be a week in my back garden in Birmingham which could cause serious marital problems and a few violent children.

Devon sleeping on Cornwall/Devon beaches - legal & safe?
Posted: Mon July 18, 2005 08:39 PM UTC
Hi,

I plan to visit Cornwall or Devon for a few days in August with a small group of friends. We are on a tight budget and are not considering hotels, cottages and accommodation like that.

Instead, we are wondering if it is safe and legal to sleep on the beaches at night? Has there been much problems with petty thieves or night attacks on beaches? Are tents allowed/necessary?

Hope to hear from anyone who had an open-air camping experience like this.

Many thanks!

Devon Getting to Devon
Posted: Wed July 6, 2005 04:56 AM UTC
My 8-year old son and I are coming to Devon in two weeks! We have a couple of questions:
1) We are staying in a place called Umberleigh, which is between Exeter and Darmoor. Is Exeter the closest place to rent a car? If so,
2) What is the best way to get from Heathrow to Exeter? We arrive very early in the morning on a Tuesday.
3) What is a good place to spend a night between Umberleigh and Porthleven?
Any help would be most appreciated!! Thank yoU!

Devon visiting Devon
Posted: Wed May 18, 2005 05:52 PM UTC
We are going to stay in Devon( holsworthy) for 4 nights in July. I found on the web site there is swimming with seal on the trip to Lundy island. Has anybody out there have done it before? Is it worthwhile? Also, my little girl will be nearly 7 then. We have a day or two to go to theme park. But we are spoilt by choices. There are Killarney springs, watermouth castle, milky way, etc. Which one will be the best if we can only go to one? Thanks ever so much for any advice in advance..........

Devon dogs in devon
Posted: Tue May 3, 2005 11:21 AM UTC
I'm staying in the South Hams area (near Hope) for a week in June, and I'm bringing my dog. I know there are some dog-friendly beaches, but I'm interested to know whether dogs are generally welcomed in the area.... pubs, ferries, outdoor tourist attractions?

Any advice welcomed -- general or specific.

Thnaks.
