Dubai Restaurant and phone card questions
Posted: Fri July 25, 2008 02:07 AM UTC
Is it possible to buy international phone cards (to call Australia) in Dubai? Would they also work in Oman, or would I have to buy another one there?

Also, I'm looking for a nice restaurant, not TOO expensive, but fun. We'll be staying in the Deira area (?).

Thanks

Dubai Visa on arrival
Posted: Mon July 21, 2008 01:33 PM UTC
How painful is it to get a visa on arrival in Dubai? My father, a Filipino, is flying on Emirates Airlines to Vienna and since we could meet up in Dubai as I am arriving from elsewhere, I thought we stay for about 48 hours in Dubai before flying to Vienna together. I read that he just needs to show his connecting (Emirates Airlines) tickets and a hotel reservation to get a visa on arrival (for a fee)- but is it that easy? I see lots of people qeueing for visa inside the airport. I'd appreciate your tips. Thank you.

Dubai Where are some good Indian or Pakistani restaurants in Dubai?

I'm not talking about restaurants in 5 star hotels. Nothing fancy or expensive. Just some good Indian or Pakistani food for expats or regular people like myself. Thanks!

United Arab Emirates Emirates Palace hotel, Abu Dhabi
Posted: Sat July 19, 2008 11:18 AM UTC
An article in a UK national newspaper today highlighted a 7 day, all inclusive holiday at the Emirates Palace hotel for $1,000,000 (£500,000) per person.
If each of you will forward to me a substantial amount of US dollars, I will be happy to book in there and report back if the million dollar cost is worth it or not.

I'll be in AD for about 6 hours on a stopover to Berlin in November. I've decided to spend some time at one of these two malls but I'm wondering if anyone can help me choose which one! Also, how far are these from the airport, and how does one get from the airport to the malls. Any help would be much appreciated!

Dubai Hotel/Travel
Posted: Wed July 16, 2008 03:33 PM UTC
Hello everyone,

I am planning a stopover to Dubai for 4 days in the last week of December. I am looking for some good hotel deals. I am not able to find anything below $120 per night. Can anyone tell me is this the normal hotel rates in Dubai?? Any advise on where should I look for good hotel deals. I am not looking to make a luxurious trip. I am more interested in the City then the hotel. So, i dont think I want to put in like $500 for 4 nights just for hotel. Please advise me an alternative.
Thanks

Dubai Information on Dress code
Posted: Wed July 9, 2008 12:22 PM UTC
Hi,
Can anyone help with regards to the correct dress code for men during the evening in hotels or Restaurants?

I normally wear a pair of tailored shorts with a short sleeve shirt when
on holiday, is it expected to cover up legs completely when dining out?
If so, does this apply for every meal or can you dress down for lunch and breakfast, any help to save embarrassment will be very much appreciated.

Dubai Staying in a Hotel with a couple
Posted: Wed July 9, 2008 01:30 AM UTC
Hi all,
My friend is coming to Dubai upon my advice this year and would like to know if it is allowable to stay in a suite with her sister and her sister's husband. Is this even allowable in Dubai. They do not want to break any rule nor be offensive to other people's religious beliefs.
I do not have an answer for her, can you all help answer her question?
Thanks for your replies.

Dubai Arabic Classes in Dubai?
Posted: Sat July 5, 2008 02:04 PM UTC
I'm going to be in Dubai for 6 months and would like to take some Arabic classes during that time. Can anyone recommend some good places that offer language instruction (either small classes or one-on-one)? I will be working during the day so it would have to be a place that offers evening or wknd classes.

Alternatively, if anyone has any recommendations for more informal study, I would be interested in hearing about that as well. For example, has anyone heard of people doing language exchanges here? If so, are there any community boards or other places where I might post an ad or look into this?

Thanks!
