My wife and I are traveling from USA to Heathrow on British Airways. I am traveling on a U.S. passport. I am checking baggage. Was originally going to use the train to Paris but am now looking at flight options. Scheduled arrival at Heathrow is 10:00 a.m and I assume I will be arriving at Terminal 5. Want to take an Air France flight at 1:45 p.m. to Paris (assume Terminal 4) since its half the price of a similar BA flight. Will I have to go through immigration, customs, baggage claim then take a bus to Terminal 4 and then check back in. Is it reasonable to think I can do this in time for the 1:45 p.m. flight? Does BA and Air France have any type of baggage agreement where I can just switch terminals without going through immigration/customs/baggage claim? Any help would be appreciated.

We are flying into Heathrow from the US via VA and connecting to a BA flight to Amsterdam. Since the two airlines are not partners we will not be able to check our bags through to Amsterdam. We will be going from terminal 5 to terminal 3 but will have to retrieve our bags. Will we have to go through customs? The web site
http://www.heathrowairport.com/heathrow-airport-guide/flight-connections/terminal-5-domestic-connecting-to-terminal-3-international
does not show any information for this option. They seem to assume your bags are checked through. Help please!

Myself and two mates have a 3.5 hour layover at Heathrow in a few weeks. We will be arriving on United Airlines and transferring over to terminal 1 for Brussels Airlines. It will be rather early in the morning so finding a bar and drinking beer between connections might not be in the cards. Can anyone suggest a cafe in terminal 1 that someone might be able to have a sit down and a cup of coffee? Just mostly looking for something to pass the time doing without being too bored.

Hi, I'm arriving in Heathrow - T5 @05:15, in the morning @ I have 2 hours to depart from T5 (for Madrid).

Is there any shop open so early in the morning (I don't know even if the duty free will be open at that hour)?

As well, any suggestions for a good, not too expensive, place to eat / coffee?

Someone mentioned that there are places to eat before & after security - I have to find out if I can go back after I've passed through security.... I really have to move fast because there is only 2 hours between the flights & I still need to go to the Iberia airline's ticket desk (where ever that might be)

Could you please give some ideas, advices?

Thank you

Three of us are flying into Heathrow on the same date at approximately the same time, but on three different airlines (United, Air Canada, and Virgin). We have private transport hired. We plan on meeting outside of Immigration & Customs. We assumed that there was only one international arrivals terminal; NOW we hope that there is only one international arrivals terminal!!!
Can you provide any info please?

Many thanks

My wife and I are scheduled to arrive LHR Terminal 1 (United, from Washington DC) at 7:30 AM on a Thursday. About how long should it take to clear immigration and customs, collect checked luggage and walk to the underground or bus station? Also, we need to get to Victoria Station as our hotel is within walking distance. Would the underground or a bus be less hassle for two novice American tourists?

I'm on a study abroad program and eight of my fellow students and I are all flying into Heathrow this saturday, landing at about 7 o'clock local time (terminal 3, I think). We all have visas to enter the UK, but we're wondering what the best way of getting out of Heathrow and to Russell Square. We were looking into booking a car service (a large van for all of us) directly from Heathrow since it would be cheaper than taking the Heathrow Express to Paddington and then taxis, but we're not sure how much time to allow for getting baggage and getting through customs (i.e. what time the van should arrive). I'd be open to taking the underground, but while I can carry all my luggage, I'm not sure I can fully manage it by myself. Thoughts? Ideas? I'm pretty stumped.

Hi All,

How much time does it take to get from Terminal 5 to Terminal 3 please. I'm flying into Heathrow from Paris and back out to Bangkok 1h35 later. Only in transit so don't have to worry about luggage. My travel agent here in France tells me on her computer (which site ??) gives 1h15 and on the Heathrow site they give 1h30, so it looks doable, but has anyone out there actually done it ?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Hi there,
I am landing at T3 at 16:40 from Spain and departing at 20:00 from T4 for an international flight to New Zealand. I can't check in the bag all the way as they are completely different flights so I have to collect my bag and check it in for the following flight again. From what I have seen in Internet they say it takes around 90 mins to go from T3 to T4 but this is with conecting flights and bags checked in all the way through. I think I should have enough time but I dont really want to risk it? Do you think just over 3 hours would be enough?
Thanks!!!!

hi there
I want to find my own way to london from heathrow airport. I will be arriving with my sister about 1pm. this will be mid december 2011.
we have been advised we need to catch the piccadilly line to london to connect with our further transport to our accommodation. In my surfing on the net I have read comments that this is the cheapest option and that i will have a very difficult time getting help to find the line and buying a ticket will be almost impossible (the comments advised that no one will tell me where to buy my ticket). we still have time to arrange a pick up but we are really keen to find our own way.

Will arrive at LHR at 5 a.m. Would like somewhere to have a shower. The hotels will only allow you to book a room for the full day I think, which I do not want..
Any ideas, please?

Thanks

Does anyone know of a valet parking service that allows you to drop off at Gatwick and, 3 weeks later, allows you to pick up at Heathrow?

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks

Hello

I'm arriving at Heathrow T5 at noon on the 30th of March and need to transfer to Gatwick. I'll be with my son. I know I can take the National Express service to Gatwick (18GBP?), but I was wondering if there are others who might want to pool in for a taxi ride or some other way and save some money.

Do let me now and we can coordinate.

Thank you

Hi,

I have got a flight arriving into terminal 3 for 1910 (7.10pm) and I have a connecting flight with another airlines at terminal 5 which is scheduled to depart for 2100 (9pm).

My question is, is the estimated 1hour 50 minutes enough for me to connect from terminal 3 to terminal 5 along with my checked in luggage from one airline to another? And how do I get my checked in luggage over to the other plane?

Thanks for your advise.

Hey guys,

Has anyone stayed at the YOTEL at Heathrow? I am arriving late at night and am thinking of taking one for 8 hours. It seems just as cheap as staying at a regular hotel and I don't have to get cab fare or pay for wifi.

Anyone stay at one before?

Also, can I get the tube straight from Heathrow is Hatton Cross station at least within walking distance?

Thanks a lot.

Hi,
I am Arriving from Chicago into Heathrow on a US passport at 10:45 pm.
1: How likely is it that I will be able to get through Customs and Immigration that time of night and get on a tube into Central London before the tubes close? I am hesitant to Book a hostel because I don't know about if I will even be able to get to it.
2: what about sleeping in the airport? Is that easy to do?

I only have to make until the morning when the tube opens again. From that time on I will have accomodations.

I truly appreciate any help anyone can give me.

Thanks

I need to stay one night in January at Heathrow - I will be booking in at T3 at 08.00 the next morning. I do not want to pay too much - Travel Lodge or similar would do. I am also taking the tube from Kings Cross to get there so basically somewhere convenient for the tube station and T3. Any suggestions?

two questions:
1. I am coming in to Heathrow in a couple of weeks on a Sunday (T3, I assume), and for the first time ever, someone is going to pick me up in a private car. Any thing special about this? Can I just walk right outside to ground transportation and meet him, or have the security issues made this difficult (or impossible)?

2. On the following Sunday, I am thinking to take the bus that runs every 30 minutes from Staines out to the airport to return home (I found this on the airport website). Anyone ever done this and have anything to report?

OK, a third question if you're forgiving. On Saturday the 19th or so, I am planning on taking the train in from Staines to Waterloo or Charing Cross (whichever I can get to). The one way fare is listed at 7.50 euro or something like that. It has been 12,000 years (i.e., since the English Channel was a landbridge to the continent) since I rode a local train in England. Anything I should know about round-trip discounts (we don't do that in Italy) or other normal, easy ways to reduce the fare (I'm leaving all my weapons at home, so armed robbery is out)...

Thanks!

Bill

Hi:

Those of you in the know - please consider my plans, outlined below, given the swine flu screening that may still be taking place for both arriving and departing passengers at Heathrow.

I am travelling from India (Trivandrum, Kerala) to Heathrow on Sunday, June 14, 2009. I will be going through Dubai and flying Emirates. I have a British passport. I had intended to stay with a friend in London on Sunday night but need to head back to the airport for a flight on Monday at 11:05 am (to Vancouver, BC, Canada).

I am wondering if I am being overly optimistic about getting out of the airport and to my friends house in any kind of reasonable time span (closest tube to my friend's place is Seven Sisters) - my flight is scheduled to arrive at 1840. Also wondering if I need to be back earlier than 3 hours pre-flight the next day (I can probably check in online at her house and I won't have any luggage to check as it will be going straight through from India).

Any help you can offer about how much disruption flu screening is causing at Heathrow will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Susan

Hi
Ok, i know i can walk between T3 and T1, that's not a problem. I'm not going to use Flight connection transfers because i have a 6 hour layover and there's nothing to do in T1 when you transfer and are behind the security check in at the gates. I thought i'd get off and go through passport control in T3, hang out, shop, have a meal, then go over to T1 and hang out there. Then go through security again and to the gate. My question, after all that rambling, is do i have to go through passport control again as well as the security scanners if my next flight is a domestic flight?

We're also transferring in T5 a few days later, domestic to Euro international, but with hand luggage only so I expect that will go pretty smoothly.

We fly to Paris from Heathrow T5 at 1:30pm on Easter Sunday 12Apr09 - we will be driving up from near Portsmouth that morning to drop off the hire car.
How long should this take and is it advisable? ie. will holiday traffic be bad and so should be drop the car at Portsmouth and arrange alternative transport to Heathrow ??
