Lake District log cabin recomendations please Posted: Mon May 11, 2009 11:44 PM UTC
Hello everyone
Im looking to book a break for me and my girlfriend to the Lake District and was wondering if you could help please
I might be asking too much here lol but Ive always loved the idea of staying in a log cabin in a woodland setting surrounded by wildlife, trees (obviously) etc with a gorgeous view of the lake or a log cabin on the shore surround by woodland.
Can anyone tell me if theres places of that sort to stay in the Lake District ? Ideally I dont really want to be in a area thats full of tourists, nice and quiet would be great with nice wildlife walks etc as Ive taken up photography too.
Thanks so much in advance
Kind regards
Joe

Where would be a good place to stay for a party of 15? Posted: Wed May 6, 2009 04:12 PM UTC
Hello
I am getting married in August and was thinking about a venue for my stag weekend. I am keen to avoid your typical stag weekend of nothing but drinking and shamefull behaviour. I would like to go some where with good walks, good sceinery, good pubs and some good male bonding. I feel the lake district would be perfect but where to stay? There will be around 15 men going and i would like to know where would be best to go.
Any help or answears to my question would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

London to Lake District - drive or train? - and vegetarian hospitality Posted: Sun April 12, 2009 12:09 PM UTC
Hello,
I plan to take my 2 teenage children to the Lake District for 3 days in early July. How long would the drive be from London? And train journey? From which London station to where? I am unable to walk long distances - how is public transport there or are there online links to local car rental prices?
Also, any info re: prices for vegetarian b+b or half board? We will be one or two adults and two teens.
Thanks very much in advance,
Leonie

Short Break in Lake District Posted: Thu March 5, 2009 12:26 PM UTC
Hi Guys,
I am planning to take a short break in Lake District over Easter. There are total 4 adults and and 3 kids. Is there any nice Self Catering which could be available only for 3 nights. I have checked a few but not much availability.
I checked a few Youth hostels since they provide good budget. But unfortunately availability is very limited. Any advise/tips.
cheers...

Question about good dates to visit Lake District Posted: Mon March 2, 2009 06:41 PM UTC
I am planning to spend some days in the lake District using Keswick as a base for hill walking. The dates that suit me best are May 1st to May 5th. But I now see that this is a UK Bank Holiday weekend. Does that mean the area will be very very busy with tourists? Difficult to park a car? Traffic jams? Walks very busy? OR, is it still quite early in the season?
Views , comments, advice much appreciated.
Thank you
Pop.

Unsure where to stay... Posted: Sat December 20, 2008 03:06 PM UTC
Hello there,
I'm wanting to go to the Lake District on a long romantic weekend, also to do a lot of activities such as mountain biking, walks and boating.
I've looked at a feel lodges and cottages and they seem to be in a variety of areas. I was wondering where is the best village or town to stay. It would be nice to stay by the Lakes if possible.
Any information would be greatly appreciated and i thank you in advance for taking time to reply.
Kind regards,

Isolated and beautiful cottage desired! Posted: Thu July 31, 2008 12:50 PM UTC
Hi all
I'm looking for a small beautiful cottage with as much character as possible in the Lake District to take my girlfriend to for a long weekend.
We would ideally like it to be slightly isolated (e.g. detached in a clearing of its own) but within walking distance of amenities or a small village.
Near a lake for rowing and with a log burning fire would be a big bonus (if I haven't already asked too much!).
I found one at the following link that seems fantastic but is unavailable until October, we were hoping to go in the middle of September

Thanks all for any help you can give

Travelling times, and best town to stay Posted: Tue June 10, 2008 02:06 PM UTC
We are from Melbourne, but will be visiting Britain soon.
We will have a few days around Nottingham, then plan to go up to the Lake District for a weekend.
Can you tell us roughly how many hours drive from Nottingham, to say Ambleside?
Would Ambleside be the best town to stay for our overnight? any better suggestions?
Any help would be appreciated.

Self catering cottage for a week Posted: Wed February 13, 2008 11:43 AM UTC
Hi there!
We are looking for a cottage for a week in this area or surrounds, preferably not far (within easy walking distance) to a little village. Does anyone have any recommendations? The self-catering cottages I have found online are at farms, which we usually love - peace and quiet, but this time we are looking for one a little closer to a village.
Thanks,
Jen

Hi, we would like to visit the Lake District for a 4 night stay in June 2008 but unfortunately we are the proud owners of 2 uni students, 1 apprentice and 1 child still at school so we are on a tight budget.
This would be a holiday for just us two adults. We would like to visit somewhere near cocklemouth in either a hotel or bed and breakfast.

Taking my mum to Windermere for the day by train , she'll be in a wheelchair.
Any tips for good views and pubs/cafes for lunch - she likes more old fashioned than posh - open fires in the pubs etc.
Thanks, Michael

Visiting Lake District in Winter Posted: Tue September 5, 2006 12:18 AM UTC
We have a few days between Christmas and New Year to visit the Lake District. How is the weather during that time of the year? Is it worth going at that time of the year? Anything that we need to be aware of going in winter?

Going soon... Posted: Thu June 29, 2006 10:28 PM UTC
Me and my wife are off to the Lake District for a long weekend, this weekend! (Fri 30th June to Tue 4th July).
We are staying at Far Sawrey on Lake Windemere.
Is there anything nearby we just shouldn't miss? Fancy hiring a electric launch for a trip on one of the lakes, but which one? Also, we are not walkers but it seems such a shame not to take in some scenery, any reccomendations for novices?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Tips for a short visit Posted: Wed June 21, 2006 09:45 AM UTC
Hi everyone. I'll be visiting the Lake District for a few days in August - on a quick break from London. I want to hike; I don't want to rent a car. Where should I stay? Ideally I'd take the train to Kendall or thereabouts and then take a bus, perhaps?, to my base village. I'd like to hike around Helvellyn if possible, but am open to suggestions for other destinations. Thanks.
