final schedule Posted: Mon August 3, 2009 03:00 AM UTC
I made some changes based on vt suggestions. Can you give me some input on the revised plans?
In addition, I am also looking for some confirmation on getting from Heathrow Airport to the corner of Warwick and Belgrave. It looks like I can take the Heathrow Express to Paddington Stations, the Padding to to Victoria Station. Is this the best route? I heard taxi's were very expensive.
Day one: Morning at the British Museum. During lunch call 020-7401-9919 for tickets to the Globe theater on day two. Take the Origginal London Sightseeing Tours bour. Visit Rules and Porters English Restaurant for dinner.
Day two: Start at the tower of London at 9:30. Next go to St. Paul's Cathedral then lunch in that area. Then the Globe Theater play at 2:00. Visit the London Eye and ending the day with a historic pub walk by London Walks.
Day three: Start with Tate Modern followed by lunch then on to Westminster Abbey head over to Harrods stopping at Geirgian Resturant on the 4th floor for tea. In the afternoon Big Ben and the Houses of Parl around 5:30 then a play Oliver.
Thanks again for all your help!

Best Western at Paddington Posted: Sat August 1, 2009 08:19 PM UTC
I am planning a 5 days trip to London, August 21-26.
I am looking for accommodation now I am a bit confused as I don't know which are good areas, not too busy (noisy) but safe.
Looking at some known chain, I've found the Best Western Shaftesbury Paddington Court. Double room for 5 days, 396 GBP.
Does anybody know this hotel? Is it OK? Is it a good area to stay?
Thanks in advance

Easyhotels Posted: Thu July 30, 2009 04:42 PM UTC
Has anyone of you been at those easyhotels at London?Itīs so cheap, that I keep wondering should we book it,but my husband is faraid itīs very noisy and full of party-people.I mean those under 20years and only in town for getting drunk and having fun.Canīt help thinking the same also.We have those omena-hotelli called in Finland also, and they are sometimes little noisy.
There was also some other cheap hotels at Victoria, but when this was 35Ģ those were 65Ģ so itīs quite big difference. Those 65Ģ places had breakfast, and easyhotel didnīt so it makes of course the difference smaller.

London: Where to Go, What to Do? Posted: Thu July 30, 2009 08:53 AM UTC
Hi,
we'll be arriving in London in 2 months' time and since our flight will reach at 1530hrs, we really don't want to waste the first evening/night away.
We're not really into pubs and clubs so where else can we go in the evening/night?
Also, we're intending to spend 3 full days in London, could you suggest where we can and should go?
Lastly, is Portobello market only opened during the weekends?
Thank you.

London Itinerary Posted: Wed July 29, 2009 05:47 AM UTC
I will be traveling with my young adult daughter to London in early August. This is our first time in Paris. I am planning on this schedule. Any suggestions in regards to the time line, and locations of sites would be fantastic.
Am I missing any major attractions or visiting anything that is not worth the time and effort?
Can you suggest any resturants in the locations we are near for lunch or dinner? We are thinking inexpensive and easy lunch with a few more formal and nicer dinners.
We are interested in atmosphere and fun locations and events.
Any travel suggestions would be helpful as well
Should we buy advance tickets?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Cross the river over Millennium Bridge to Tate Modern. Then the Globe Theater play at 2:00. Dinner then visit the London Eye and ending the day with a historic pub walk by London Walks.
Day three: Start with Westminster Abbey then Victoria and Albert Musuem lunch on the way to Harrods stopping at Geirgian Resturant on the 4th floor for tea. Heading over to Big Ben and the Houses of Parliment around 5:30 after dinner then a play Oliver (any play recommendations?).
Day four: Stonehenge and Salisbury's Cathedral. Food and travel suggestions?
Thanks so much for all your help!

St. Pancreas to Liverpool Lime st. Posted: Wed July 29, 2009 12:41 AM UTC
I will be arriving around noon on August 27 at St. Pancreas on the EuroStar. Should I purchase a ticket ahead of time to Liverpool instead of just buying a ticket for the next train when I arrive? Are there chances the trains will be full and I wouldn't be able to get on because I didn't make a reservation? Is there any price difference buying in advance vs buying on the spot for the next train?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

London to Hever Posted: Mon July 27, 2009 01:21 AM UTC
Hello folks.
My family of 5 is arriving on September 6 from Heathrow. We have a resort hotel in Hever. Before checking in, we would like to start exploring London as soon as we get off the Tube. What would be the best Tube station to: 1) leave luggage; 2) best connection to Hever with least transfers; 3) and of course best prices. Thanks for any info.
Alternatively, if we proceed to Hever from Heathrow, is that a better idea pricewise?

LHR to LGW Posted: Fri July 24, 2009 03:43 PM UTC
I cleverly booked a connecting flight from LGW without realising the journey from LHR requires 75 mins on the coach...
Question here is, is there airport transfers counters at LHR? That goes by a fixed rate from LHR to LGW?
I can't seems to find information on that. They only have metered taxi listed.
Response from google all requires advance booking...

heathrow to bloomsbury B & B? by Taxi... Converting dollars to pounds Posted: Thu July 23, 2009 11:34 PM UTC
I will need a taxi from Heathrow to Bloomsbury Hotel..flight arrives
in mid-morning. What's the best way to hail a taxi? (I will have to
collect luggage at UA..and somehow then find a taxi stand; does Heathrow
have rental luggage carts?). Is it best to schedule the taxi in advance?
(the hotel will make arrangments...for about 45 pounds..) If I schedule
the taxi through the hotel for a certain time, how on earth will I find
it?. I do know the terminal number).
I will come with dollars, of course; what's the best way to
covert to pounds in order to pay the taxi? Having arrangements made
through the hotel is beginning to sound like the best solution...
they'll do the necessary arrangments re dollars to pounds). Or, is
there a better (and cheaper way)?
Thanks Ruthanna

Recommendations for theater performances in London? Posted: Thu July 23, 2009 10:01 PM UTC
Our family of 4 is traveling to London next week for a couple of days and want to see a show or two. We love musicals, but would consider a play. I have been looking at the TKTS website with plans to purchase discounted tickets at their booth the day of the show. Does anyone know where I can read reliable reviews of the shows? Do you have any recommendations for shows? What have you seen that was wonderful?

Heathrow Transit hotel? Posted: Wed July 22, 2009 10:06 PM UTC
I may have about 8 hours between connecting flights to India at Heathrow this November.
Are their any transit hotels inside of the airport's transits are?. I don't want to leave the transit area and have all the hassle of security and passport control. I just want a place I can take a map for a few hours.
I googled and cannot find anything.
