| Manchester | On Line Check-in Posted: Fri June 29, 2007 12:56 PM UTC
Hi
Leaving Manchester Airport for Hong Kong and then on to Sydney via Cathay Pacific mid-Aug. Has anyone used the on-line check in on the Net? Just a bit dubious about it at the mo! So used to the old tickets-through-post and check in at a desk malarky (so stuck in my ways!). I understand we get e-tickets this time as well. Ta Kaz |

| Manchester | Place to stay overnight Posted: Sun June 24, 2007 05:26 AM UTC
I'm going to be spending 1 night in Manchester because of a flight that doesn't leave until the morning after I arrive there. I'm a student on a tight budget traveling by myself, so any safe/affordable places you know that are reasonably close to the airport would be very helpful.
Thanks! |

| Manchester | Recommended Hotels - Salford/Warrington Areas Posted: Fri June 8, 2007 03:39 PM UTC
Hello everyone,
I'll be staying in the Manchester area for about 4/5 days in July, want to stay outside of Manchester city centre, yet be able to get there easily, and also be able to bus/train to other places not too far away. I've had a look at a map and the Eccles/Irlam Salford area and the Warrington area down the road seem to be good locations. Does anyone have any views? Also are there any hotels that can be recommended? Preferably around 3* standard. Thanks. Dee. |

| Manchester | Bus station to hotel Posted: Wed May 23, 2007 09:41 PM UTC
Hi will be in Manchester in July and am staying at the Old Trafford lodge which is as suggests on the grounds of the lancashire county cricket club. My question is that we will be coming by coach into the coach station at chorlton street how easy is it to get to this hotel from the bus station? How much would a taxi cost approx? I know that there is a tram stop opposite the hotel could I get a tram from near the coach station to the hotel? do I have to look for a specific tram or do they all go to same place?? I wont have much luggage just a holdal or rucksack but would it be easier just to get a taxi although I am on a bit of a tight budget for this trip.
Also not a big fan of football but would like to do the Manchester united tour possibly as someone who is not a fan would I find this to boring. Cheers Donna |

| Manchester | One day in Manchester Posted: Wed May 9, 2007 04:24 PM UTC
Hello Everyone,
Any suggestions on how my girlfriend and I should spend this Sunday in Manchester? We'll be arriving Saturday evening (first time in Europe) and leaving Monday morning. The weather is calling for rain all weekend, so we (I) were thinking of visiting Old Trafford in the morning (I'm a United fan), and then taking the bus to the Trafford Center in the afternoon. Any good restaurants around the area? ...not too expensive. Also, what are my chances of getting a pair of tickets for Manchester United's game against West Ham? They are sold out on-line...I'm not holding my breath. Thanks all. |

| Manchester | 1st Time Visitor to England- Piccadilly Station Posted: Tue May 8, 2007 03:51 PM UTC
Hello Everyone,
I'm looking for the best way to get from Piccadilly Station to the Monton House Hotel (116 -118 Monton Road Eccles). My train is scheduled to arrive at 18:50 this Saturday. I was wondering if taking a taxi would be better seeing that we will be tired from a long flight and train ride. Would it be that much more expensive than taking the tram/bus? Thanks for your help everyone! This site is great. Nero1 |

| Manchester | transportation to Holmfirth Posted: Sun March 25, 2007 04:43 AM UTC
We will be arriving in Manchester from the United States in late June. After spending a night to take in the Imperial War Museum North, we will be heading to Holmfirth. Is there rail and/or bus service to Holmfirth? We have heard that the only way there is by taxi.
Your replies are appreciated. |

| Manchester | What are the best travel sites for Manchester? and a surprise question Posted: Wed January 3, 2007 08:02 AM UTC
I want to find cheap ways to bop around the UK and Europe while I'm in Manchester. In other words, what sites offer the best, cheapest, and widest variety of flights or trips out of Manchester?
For example, RyanAir offers those supah cheap pound (plus tax) flights - but only to Shannon and Dublin. What are some others? surprise question: (to locals only please) What, after all these years, do you still find lovely and worth a visit any time of the year? Thanks to all in advance... JamJam |

Dear VT,
May you give me some advice about sightseeings and places to visit in Manchester (like in one day or an evening, since I will not stay for long time). Also, about Trafford Centre, can I find there shops of laptops? (shall I have a wide range of choice between different shops or are there only few?) One more question, in January, do the shops offer discounts? and where can I get the best deals for clothes for example? Thank you very much for your advice & help, Warm regards, |

| Manchester | Restaurants in city centre Posted: Fri November 10, 2006 04:34 PM UTC
I would appreciate any suggestions/recommendations for reasonably priced restaurants in Manchester city centre - NOT a franchise. I am looking for somewhere where the emphasis is on good food and value for money, rather than show and a place to be seen.
Also, any suggestions for breakfast near the Travelodge City Centre? |

| Manchester | Sunday Parking in Manchester Posted: Tue October 17, 2006 10:40 PM UTC
I have an appointment at the Palace Hotel, Oxford Street, Manchester, M60 7HA on Sunday. Can anyone recommend where to park that won't cost me the earth and that isn't too far away? I don't mind walking 10 or 15 minutes! I shall have walked my feet off no doubt on Saturday around The Trafford Centre with my wife! Do the park and rides work on a Sunday and if so, which one drops off near Oxford Street? Thanks in anticipation.
