Are there maps for hiking available?
Are there loops (hiking) possible?
Are there marked paths?
Do I really need a compass there?

Bursa Ili Where by car after Istanbul?
Posted: Fri October 24, 2008 10:54 AM UTC
Hi there,

My another set of questions (due to a gloomy, cloudy day here).

I'm not convinced about Iznik visiting (based on VT).

1.How about Yalova? Thermal baths in summer sounds strange for me.
2. Are the seaside places between Cinarcik- Armutulu worthy of time?
I'm not a big fun of crowded sea resorts.
3.Bursa looks quite interesting. Is that right?
Should I go there by ferry to Guzelyali? Or only for one day trip from Bandirma (also a ferry there)?
I'm afraid of traffic jams in Bursa, so perhaps public transport is the solution.
If I stay longer in this area where to sleep (budget range) at the seaside area (Mudanya,Zeytinbag?), Teleferic district, Bursa's thermal bath distict or Cumalikizik?
4.Uludag.Is it a good place in summer? How long does the summit hike take (from Telerefic upper station)?
Is it difficult for young (12,15 yo.) teenagers? Are there marked paths in Uludag?Do I need a map there (if available)?
5.Once I've red in the interent about Kapidagi penisula- looks as a nice and intersting place. What is your opinion about this area? Is it crowded? Any particular fine places?

Thanks for your answers.

Bursa Can I find a hotel in Iznik any time during 12-Sep to 17-October (Ramadan Period)
Posted: Sun August 12, 2007 08:22 AM UTC
Hi,
I guess the post title tells some of the questions. However, I have a bit longer story. I contacted a hotel by phone in Iznik, I found its number on the hotels -rather shabby- website.
The phone answered with a male voice on the other side, and I asked in what I believe is a polite tone: "I've visited your website and I liked your Pansiyon. May I make reservation for 2 nights starting from 30 of September?".
The voice answered "No, we don't have. It is Ramadan, we close". The website did mention that it will not accept phone/email reservations, due to many cases of no show up. Instead, it provided bank accounts for payment deposits. Having said that, I would assume in all good intentions that this was an attempt to turn me down nicely because I did not follow his instructions.
The big question is> Do they have something like business holiday/break during the mentioned period.

Iznik What is the distance from Istanbul to Iznik?
Posted: Sun May 13, 2007 08:48 PM UTC
Hello:

What is the distance in kilometers/miles from Istanbul to Iznik by car?

Is it possible to hire a car for the day and make a trip to Iznik and return to Istanbul in the same day?

Any recommendations? I will be in Istanbul in October and will need to arrange a private tour or something to visit Nicaea, because this is not on my regular itinerary. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you,

Robert

Bursa Ili What's the case with Iznik?
Posted: Sat May 5, 2007 10:56 AM UTC
Hey,
I'm planning a trip through part of Turkey, my guide book says Iznik is a nice calm beautiful city and recommends it a lot - yet here I see no sign of discussion about it. What's the case? Is it my guide book is trying to send me to an uninteresting little place for some reason?
After reading the description I was ready to make an afternoon trip to there -- is it worth it?
Any opinion welcome

Bursa Ili A SENTIMENTAL BANDIRMA JORNEY!
Posted: Fri February 9, 2007 08:36 AM UTC

Hi everybody! Locals especially.
On family reasons, investigating the origin of my wife's parents, she and me shall visit Bandirma from 28 to 30 of march. No info about this little, and hope, beautiful town on Marmora coast in the web and no hotels except 2 of 70 euro the double room in the place; something I consider exaggerate if you pay here in Barcelona 50-60 for the same pleasure in a clean, stylish and quiet hostal (a small family hotel, sometimes a real boutique as arthostal.com, hostal Cabul, Gaudi etc.) Maybe you can help me to find something in or near Bandirma (I saw that on Anatolia beach a double room could cost you 26-31 euro!) Or maybe the village we are going to, Gobel, a little bit down, has its own guests house? It will be appreciated all info about these delicate cuestions. Greetings and come to BCN!

Bursa Working in Bursa
Posted: Sat March 19, 2005 10:54 PM UTC
Hey all-

I was wondering how difficult it might be to find a job in Bursa, like in ESL or private english tutoring or something. Is it in high demand or will i get there and not find any employment? And is it the kind of place you'd really want to work for a few months?
Thanks

Bursa Bursa/Uludag accomodation
Posted: Fri January 21, 2005 11:02 AM UTC
Hi to all

Im going soon to ski in Uludag. I already have a good offer to stay at the Holliday inn Bursa which seems to be a great hotel, but far from city center. It is located in: Uludag University Görükle Kampüsü
BURSA

Can someone help me with this location? how convenient is it to get from there to the ski site every day (for 2-3 nights) in the morning (i dont have a car)???

Where could i find uptodated prices for good (but not too fancy) hotels in the ski site itself? most sites quote only "general" fares and do not offer online booking service.

Cheers

Dalyan Golu Dalyan
Posted: Mon July 5, 2004 08:57 PM UTC
I shall be visiting Turkey for the first time this September (and can't wait to get there !) but have heard a lot of horror stories about the Dalyan mosquitos - is it best to go armed with a bag full of repellent or are the local products more effective?
Also I have a husband who is keen on reptiles and is hoping to see a lot of the local lizards and snakes etc. Are there plenty to see ?
We have booked a hire car and want to visit Ephesus - is it realistic to drive there and back in one day or would we be better booking a trip from a local tourist office?

Thank you all in advance
