I'm looking for the best way to get from Trabzon to somewhere that I can get on the train to Istanbul. Some people recommend going from Trabzon to Kars and getting the train there. But Kars is east of Trabzon, the exact opposite direction from Istanbul. Why would people go to Kars to get the train? It looks like Sivas would be a better connection point! Wouldn't it make more sense to go Trabzon-Sivas-Istanbul, not Trabzon-Kars-Istanbul?
We will be traveling to Trabzon by bus from Georgia and are seeking clean budget accommodations for 3. A small guest house would be great. Any recommendations?
What is the best way to get around and see the sights? Can you get around sufficiently by bus. Any suggestions for local driver/guide?
Hi everyone!
We will spend 3 nights in August in Trabzon area and will have a car.
Apart from Sumela monastery what other day trips can we make?
Are there marked hiking trails in the area? Any suggestions for lodging?
We would prefer small rural pensions but how can we find them and negotiate?
I do not expect many people to speak English there.
Trabzon a good place to buy external hardrive? Where?
I need to buy a good quallity, durable, affordable external hardrive for my laptop. My laptop hardrive is full, and I need a place to upload a few thousand 10megapixal photos? A hardrive range of at least 50GB is required. My question is where in Trabzon should I go to buy this piece of equipment, also how much does it cost in Turkey, and is Turkey a good place to buy such a device? Please note, my next destinations are Georgia, Latvia, Estonia, and Finland (in that order). If you know for a fact that one of the precedding countries is better (in terms of price vs. quality) for electronics shopping, please let me know, and I'll wait a few weeks longer. Otherwise please let me know where in Trabzon to do my shopping.
I am going on a 3 week Northeastern Turkish trip, focusing on natural scenery, and authentic local food. I would like to know the regional specialties, or foods in season (in June) for the following provinces:
Van
Agri
Igdir
Kars
Ardahan
Artvin
Rize
Trabazon
I have already done some research, but I am unsure if any of the following foods are relevant to these areas, please let me know what you think of my list? Thanks
Simit, Mahlab, Mahlepi, Pogaca, "Corek", "Kandil simidi", "Ka'kat" and Ma'amoul, Kashkak, Mantı with yogurt (especially from Kayseri) and Gözleme, şakşuka,
Which Turkish prepay SIM provider works best for a 3 week trip to NE Turkey? Avea? Vodaphone? or Turkcell? I am only interested in LOCAL SMS (to other Turkish mobiles), and the occasional call (only to Turkish numbers). I don't need roaming, or international calling services? Which provider has lower rates, no setup fee, or is most common?
Today, on 7/21/2008 I contacted Akpınar Motel on 00904626566358 to reserve a room, but I surprised when they told me one room will cost me more than $70 while you said in your topic it costs less than $20!!!
Could you please clear that?

My flight will arrive in 18.00 o'clock in Trabzon and I would like to go forward to Georia through in Hopa .
How I can do that ? Are there any direct buses from the airport to the border ?
We will be stopping in Trabzon in October for the day. Are the sights walkable from where the Cruise ships stop or would it make more sense to take an arranged tour? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Robert

I've recieved great and helpful info via email from people who've made the border crossing from Trabzon to Batumi. I'm wondering if anyone's done this recently (in last 6 months or so), particularly starting from the Trabzon airport and if they can provide any guidance or advice?
If no one has done this border crossing recently, any advice from getting to the airport to the town center or bus stop?
Hello,
Can you give me reliable information about ferries travelling form Trabzon to Sochi in september - timetable, prices / or phone, e-mail of the company? Thank's a lot:)
I just want to ask if you know which airlines are the cheapest for Trabzon-Istanbul flights. Do you think it is better to order tickets online or buy them at Trabzon Airport? I checked the Bus fares from Trabzon to Istanbul and i think it is pretty expensive:)). I will be very thankful if you can tell me what the regular fares are.

Sofia-Trabzon Posted: Sat January 29, 2005 08:28 AM UTC
I'm urgently looking for a METRO contact in Sofia. Could you help? Thank you in advance.
I'm a youth worker. We, 7 people altogether, are going to take part at an international youth exchange project in Trabzon. Last year we use METRO's services and they are really good. Unfortunately we loosed the contact information.
Probably it's much better to use a plane for Istanbul-Trabzon part? Any cheap air-companies?
Thank you very much!
Fell free to contact me if I could help here in Bulgaria.
Are there any Pensions , bed and breakfasts or Hotels in Safranbolu?
I would love to visit there and stay for a week. I understand it is near to Amasra. Is there other places to see? I would also like to visit rize. Is it expensive in these areas?
Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to stay in a pension or a hotel in beautiful village in Rize. I saw pictures of it, and fell in love with the beautiful green scenery. Also I love country life and very traditional ways of life.
I recently went to the Balkans, and people rented a spare room in their house, does that system work in Turkey? And is it expensive in this area?
