| Thaxted | Thaxted church info.. Posted: Sun March 16, 2008 09:53 AM UTC
Oooh, the first Thaxted Forum question!
I'm trying to identify an object in Thaxted church. I have several books on Essex curches, plus the church guide book, but can't identify the colourful circular chandelier-like object hanging from the ceiling near the iron stella. Although it looks like a hanging chandelier, I can't see space for any candles in my photo. It's a woven metal circlet with daisies, bluebells and red, heart-shaped tulips, as well as blue stars. Any info gratefully received. I have Googled, but that's hard when you don't have a search term lol! Thanks. |

My husband and I will be in Southend for 3 days in June with our 11 year old daughter. Can anyone recommend some fun things to do (aside from Adventure Island and the pier) and some places where we might enjoy a good meal? Thanks!

| Colchester | Colchester this weekend? Posted: Mon February 25, 2008 12:19 PM UTC
Hi there,
Flying to Stansted with a group o' lads from Ireland from Wednesday to Sunday (basically on the beer) and was wondering if we should go for Colchester or just head down to London? Is there enough to keep 12 lads entertained in Colchester for 4 nights or will we just follow the crowd? Thanks. |

| Harwich | Help in Harwich Posted: Sun October 14, 2007 09:27 PM UTC
We dock in Harwich and I need advice. We want to take the Dutchflyer to Amsterdam. We will have to take the night ferry because I'm not sure we could get off the ship early enough to take the morning trip. So we will have 12 hrs to "do" Harwich. I would also like to send one piece of baggage to Dublin, because I fear we'll be over the Aer Lingus baggage allowance. We're flying from Amsterdam to Dublin and then home. I'm trying to get rates from either the Postal service or
UPS(Mailboxes etc.)It doesn't need to be overnight express because we'll be in Amsterdam for 4 days & Dublin for 4 days. Also, where could we store our bags while we sightsee? There are 4 of us ages 66-77, interested in history, military and good local food. Thank you for any help!!! Elenore PS-trip in April 08. Does the train station store items? |

| Essex | Leeds Airport --> Chelmsford + a place to stay Posted: Wed June 14, 2006 01:32 AM UTC Hi, i'm flying in on Leeds/Bradford airport in 10 days and i need to be in Chelmsford for a job interview the next day. What would be the best (cheapest) way to travel, rent a car (and drop it of somewhere in Essex) or go by train ? And does anyone here knows a good hostel/b&b somewhere near Chelmsford ? I've never been to Essex before (only London and Surrey) but if i'd pass the interview i'd have to move there by september, what are nice places to live in Essex ? I'd like living close to the sea, and close to a larger city as wel. Greetings from Holland, Medic-1 |

| Southend-on-Sea | Body Piercing Posted: Mon August 29, 2005 06:04 PM UTC
I've been trying to track down a guy in Southend who did a body piercing for me a few years ago. His name is James. He used to work from home, and he lived on the A127/Prince Avenue on the way into Southend. Does anyone know if he is still there, or how to get in touch with him?

I would like to know if there are any sites to help me find part time work. I do not come as a student but as permanent residence and I have all documenation allowing me to work. | Southend-on-Sea | Restaurant with one sitting Posted: Mon April 21, 2003 09:44 PM UTC
A number of years ago... ok, about 15yrs ago... just a few... some friends took me to a restaurant in the Southend-on-Sea area, or Leigh on Sea... that only had one sitting a night. They brought around to the tables a huge terrine of soup, there was a salad "bar", and then the starters, and entrees were all trotted out for you to see the options, as were the desserts. It was incredibly good food, and was about 20 pounds stirling per person. Reservations had to be made long in advance. Does anyone know if this restaurant still exists... the name of which escapes me... or know of any other similar ones in the Greater London area?
