Me and a friend of mine will be in Izmir in September and I am considering hiring a guide/ companion / interpreter. Our trip will be mainly leisure: going to pubs, beach, travelling to interesting places arround Izmir and maybe researching some editor's offices of local newspapers, etc.

How much would such a service cost?

We'll arrive at Otogar in Izmir. We know that our hotel offers a free shuttle service to Alsancak. Is there a "servis" joining Izmir Otogar and Alsancak ? If yes, do you know where is the terminal of this "servis" ?

I will be in Selcuk in August and I'm interested in arranging a day trip for myself and a friend (both in our 20s) from Selcuk to Pamukkale (and back to Pamukkale that night). I am wondering whether any tour companies have a day trip like this that we could book (for Thursday, August 14).

2. When you leave the ship, where do you walk to to catch the local transportation?

7. Is transportation back as easy as getting there?

I'm planning to travel to turkey late August. I guess my wife will force me to have some shoppings! Specially clothings are in her intrest, offcourse I'm not so unintrested!

Regarding prices and quality, Izmir is better to shop or Istanbul?

Plannig to spend next Saturday in Selcuk and vicinity and would love to have a bike for the day. I understand that this is doable; how do I rent?

Im a few weeks out from a 5 day stay in Turkey and am landing in Istanbul. I’ve decided to spend 2 full days in Istanbul and have allocated the other 3 for traveling elsewhere. There are so many sites to see around turkey and im overwhelmed with the choices and sacrifices I will need to make. And don’t know what sites are worth seeing more. Can anyone help me?
Apart from Gallipoli and Selcuk(Ephesus) which I know I really want to go to, im curious to know if its worth cramping in a visit to troy, and if i should choose to visit Pergamom or Pamukkale as time is restricting me!!

Spending 1 day at Ephesus and starting off at Gallipoli are a must. What would be the best way to go about spending my 3 days around turkey outside of Istanbul?

I'll be in Istanbul in July, and I managed to book a return flight to Izmir for the day, so that I camn visit Ephesus. My flight arrives at Izmir early in the morning and departs late at night, so I'll have the whole day to find my way from Izmir to Ephesus.
My question is, what is the easiest/fastest way to travel between Izmir airport-Izmir-Ephesus, and back? Ideally, I would also like to spend a short time in Izmir, but, if that is too much, Ephesus comes first!
Is it true that the train between Izmir airport-Izmir-Selcuk is not running right now because of maintenance work? Are there any buses instead, from Izmir airport to Izmir and then to Ephesus?
I'm trying to avoid renting a car!
Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated!

You mentioned that you did the walking tour in one and a half hours, did you have a guide, how did you organize this. I feel this amount of time will be enough for my husband and I in the heat although we would like to see the main attractions. How much did the taxi cost to take you there and wait and bring you back ?.

I am flying into the Adnan Menderes Airport and want to take a bus to Selcuk. My flight arrives around 24:00.

1) What is the safe and cheap way to go from the airport to the bus station?
2) Are there buses which go from the Izmir bus station to the Selcuk bus station at around 1:00? Is this safe so early in the morning?

How much does a Taxi from the port cost to Ephasis? Are they safe? Are there buses to the site? oR TRAINS? Is it easy to get there? Or should I take a shore excurcion rom the ship? I will be traveling on June 7 2008 Splendor of the seas.

We want to contact a guide to take us from Izmir to Ephesus and back. We are 5 people and would prefer a Spanish-speaking guide if possible.

Im travelling this region with my family (two adults three teenagers) in July and have priced airfares. They are prohibitive. Can anyone tell me how far it is by road, do buses go this route, how many hours will it take? Do we book? Thanks for any help

My girlfriend and I (in our 20s) will be traveling to the area in late April/early May. We will be flying into either Dalaman or Izmir and are trying to figure the best way to get around. I was thinking of hiring a car since our time is very limited (four full days) and would like to spend a couple of days at the beach and a couple exploring areas around Izmir. My girlfriend really wants to visit Olu Deniz and we are looking to paraglide so I figure the beaches around this area would be our best bet this time of year. From what I've gathered, bus transportation would not be difficult or too costly, however, due to the limited time I thought that having a car may provide more freedom and flexibility. Does anyone know how practical this seems especially in regards to parking if we are staying in/around Olu Deniz and Izmir. Do the hotels/resorts typically provide free parking for their guests? Also, if anyone has any suggestions as far as beaches and/or fairly inexpensive hotels, it would be much appreciated.

In July I will be coming from Ankara to Izmir just for a few hours and with final destination to Bodrum. I want to visit Bergama and have a dinner in Izmir. (this is the plan at the moment)
Is there a left luggage service at the Izmir bus station? Do you know until what time in the evening it is open?
If not at the bus station, what are my options to leave my luggage and take a bus to Bergama?

Is the özdilek store (at the Crowne Plaza) open on Sundays? If so, what are the hours? I will be staying in Izmir (hotel Karaca in centrum) - what would be the best way to get out to the store? Is a bus / dalmus possible? What would a taxi cost?

My plan is to go from Bursa to Bergama by bus, but I cannot find any bus company and/or any other mean of transportation.
Do I have to change bus in another location?
How much time will it take to go from Bursa to Bergama?

I would appreciate the CURRENT approximate rate for a taxi or mini-bus for a family group ( 9 of us!) round-trip from NEAR the port. We arrive in June '08 for a VERY short stay-enough for Ephesus and a bit of time in town.

Further, any suggestions for a LOCAL place serving good Turkish Doner Kebabs in those big white wrappers? We don't mind walking for a good LOCAL meal !

Also, if you are arriving by ship for only a day, no visa is needed. I appreciate your response!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a reliable and interesting guide for Ephesus?

We we would like to take the public Bus from Kusadasi and understand to pick it up at the "Bus Square". Is that near the cruise port? Also, where do we get off in Ephasus? We understand the main entrance is "on top of the hill". Does the bus stop at the main entrance? Can anyone give us directions to the main entrance? Is dolmas minibus and if so, is it better to take than public bus?
Also, we'd love to see a camel wrestling performance in the theater. Do they have one in late November?
