Somewhere to stay in town asap Posted: Thu July 2, 2009 07:40 PM UTC
Hi. Ive been to Side many times before (over 20) and I am flying out on the 25.07 for 2 weeks with my friend. I always tend to stay in the walls of side, so im looking for somewhere to stay thats not too expensive. Has anyone got a contact email address etc for rooms in side of Side. I have contacted a couple of friends who have given me prices but I am going with a friend who has never been before so would like to stay somewhere different.xx

Antalya, Side or Alanya? Posted: Sun June 28, 2009 04:27 PM UTC
Hi...
Me and 3 of my friends are going to turkey in august. We have some problems in deciding were to go. I have been to Alanya once before, therefore I would like to see a new place. And I liked the idea of Antalya, as we want to do others things than only going to the beach (shop, nightlife, boatours, rafting, aquapark and other activities).
But then I got a call from my sister, who is currently in Side, saying many said they prefer Side over Alanya and Antalya...
One other quesion. I was wondering if there are balconies on this laguna hotel? and if there isn't any beaches closer than 2 km away?
I found this one hotel in Anatalya at the adress:
Bahcelievler Mah. Teomanpasa Cad. No 53 07100 Antalya
this webside is in norwegian, and I found no language switch for it, but u can see the location on the map on the site
http://www.detur.no/catalog.cfm?nSupplierId=252&nHotelNo=20622&nonlinecatalogueNo=15102
If anything is unclear just let me know...

Prices in Izmir Posted: Sun June 28, 2009 02:23 AM UTC
Hello...
Can anyone tell me what the cost is of some items just to give me an idea of it's prices in T. Lira?
For example, how much is a can of coke or how much does a postcard cost in Lira please?
Are there souvenir stalls outside where the Library of Celsus is located? In case we need bottled water, how much do these cost at this area?
Thank you very much.

I am travelling with my wife and 2 children to Alanya this summer and am thinking of taking a bus trip to Beirut while in Alanya. Does anyone know if there is a bus leaving from Antalaya to Beirut or Alanya to Beirut?
Cheers

My fellow bloggers, I am Flying to Turkey on the 5th of August and So far I don't know much about Turkey. I am more into Nature (the Sea, the Sun) than History (the Mosque, the Church). And I want to spend my two weeks as a Localite. Lütfen tell me anything/everything you can about how I can make this happen.

Is it possible to go there any time of night and after which time will it be unsafe?
Also can we take a taxi from somewhere instead of the long ferry ride to Anadolu?

EYUP? Posted: Wed June 24, 2009 09:06 AM UTC
Hi!
This time I have some questions about the Eyup area.
1. Which is the fastest and most economical way of reaching eyup from eminonu? Ferry or bus (which number)?
2. How far are different sites like Abu Eyup Ansari's
tomb, cable car ride, Minaturk, Chora church and the Dolphinarium from each other? In which order should we visit them?
3. Can we cover all these EASILY in one day? How long do we need to spend in each?
4. What are entrance charges of Chora church and do these include Kariya museum?
THANKS

best places to photo Blue Mosque etc Posted: Mon June 22, 2009 01:56 AM UTC
Hi
Any advise on great spots to take unhindered photos of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia would be appreciated. I am looking for locations up high with clear sight lines that would give well composed photographs.
Balconies from restaurants maybe? Maybe hotel balaconies where we could have a drink and watch the sunset while taking pics?
Thanks all.

a few things I guess Posted: Sat June 20, 2009 11:33 AM UTC
Can anyone suggest best ways to get to Swissotel on Bayildim Cadessi from the airport, and the costs of each? Not able to find any current information.
Also, I read that a cruise to Anadolu Kavagi will take 5 hrs round trip - we want to go direct so is there another way to get there quicker?
Also where are the best kept secrets of Beyoglu - somewhere that I won't read about in a guidebook?
Finally, anywhere that does great chocolate/Turkish delight, and anywhere I can get a personalised cake made?
Thanks in advance

Bsphorus Tour Posted: Sat June 20, 2009 09:25 AM UTC
Hi!
As my Istanbul tour is getting closer I seem to be bombaring you all with questions.
First please tell me whether I should use the Turol service or the one from Eminonu?
Which is cheaper, more comfortable and less crowded?
Second tell where we should get off ?
We shall be travelling with 2 babies so would it be wise to do a two way trip or one way?
If oneway then how should we get back to Eminonu?
Thanks for the fantastic feebacks!

Ortakoy on a Sunday Posted: Sat June 20, 2009 07:47 AM UTC
Hi!
If any of you vt members have visited Ortakoy on a Sunday please pinpoint all the things one should see, buy or eat overthere.
Also give the precise directions of getting there from Eminonu, if we use the tram/train or the bus.
I have teenage daughters. What can they buy there?
I pesonally love painting and sketches done by novices. Can we get some there?
My forthcoming trip in July is shaping up very well because of wonderful feedbacks from the forum contributors.

Alternative to Bodrum for summer vacation... Posted: Thu June 18, 2009 10:31 AM UTC
I have been in Bodrum for summer vacation and I really enjoyed:
the picturesque town
the idyllic scenery
the beaches and day cruises
the excursions I did up to Ephesus and Pammukale...
So what would you suggest as an alternative to Bodrum which will has the same qualities but it will allow me to discover a different place?
Thanks!

Accommodations? Posted: Wed June 17, 2009 07:15 PM UTC
Hi All!
Coming across Turkey by kayak last year I only made it to Gazikoy near Tekirdag. I will be completing my trip this year but need some help with possible accommodations. There are places to stay in Sarkoy, I guess, and I know there are in Gelibolu and Ecebat but what about Ulgarderekoyu or Kazanagzi? I'm not looking for anything fancy, just a room or even a campground would do. Otherwise I will have to rough camp. Anyone with any ideas? Thanks in advance.
