| Whitby | Which side of river best for B&B? Posted: Sun July 8, 2007 09:53 AM UTC
Hi there - Whitby cognoscenti!
It's many, many years since I went to Whitby, and all I remember is the abbey up on the hill on one side of the river. I want to book 1-2 nights B&B, and would like to know which side of the river is best. Any other info on well-positioned B&Bs would be welcome. Thanks. |

My friend and I are coming to Whitby in early June. What is the cheapest way of getting to Whitby by train? Some of the trains I've looked at have scary prices...

| Whitby | Is there any coach/train connection from Whitby to Durham? Posted: Wed March 16, 2005 05:17 AM UTC
I was planning to take the coach from York to Whitby, go back to York, and the next day take a train up to Durham. But I would be easier to make this trip a triangle: take the coach to Whitby, go to Durham and then take the train back to York. However, I couldn't find any train for the Whitby-Durham leg. National Express also has no direct coach.
Does anyone know if there is some other public transportation between the two towns? Thank you for any information. Christine |

Hi, I will be based in whitby for 6 months in 2005. I would like as much info about this area, what I should and shouldnt do, all that sort of thing. Im a virgin traveller and at this moment finding quite daunting, hopefully this will pass and excitement wil set in. Is the accent quite thick or will I be able to understand this fine? coming from Australia to Whitby in april should I pack heavy clothing or mddle or light? Thanks for your help. Cheers
