Hello,
I am looking for a car/van hire company that will rent us a car to drive from the UK to Spain and allow us to leave the vehicle there. I have tried Avis, Hertz & Europecar, but they do not offer this service. Has anyone ever done this and can they recommend a company ??? Thanks....Sue |

| Manchester | Cheapest parking in Manchester near to MEN Arena Posted: Tue April 29, 2008 12:44 PM UTC
In reply to Gillybob (thanks by the way for your amazingly quick reply), yes I do need to travel by car.
Someone may also be able to tell me if the arena is within walking distance of the shopping/main area. By 'walking' distance I mean a sort of 10-15min max walk. Thanks again for your help. Debs |

| Manchester | Cheapest parking in Manchester near to MEN Arena Posted: Tue April 29, 2008 12:17 PM UTC
I am trying to find the cheapest parking for around 10 hours on a week day (Friday) from about 12/1pm until 11pm at night, and within as close distance as possible to the MEN arena.
Can anyone help? I believe that there is an NCP car park at the arena, but if my previous experiences of NCP are anything to go by they are usually far more expensive than others. I don't know Manchester at all so any replies would be very helpful Thanks Debs |

| Manchester | We want to hire a car to drive to Berlin and return it there Posted: Wed March 5, 2008 11:20 AM UTC
My friend and I are moving to Berlin in the summer. We're going to be renting a flat out there, in order to take our stuff over with us, we'd like to hire a car or van and spend a week driving over, then have either someone collect it or return it to the hire company's Berlin office....
Does anyone know any rental companies that offer this service?? Best wishes Rachel |

Fellow VTers
This may well be my home turf but I was wondering if anyone knows if any of the casinos have a craps table? Well, any casino other than Grosvenor where the meanies will not allow me to play because my brother manages their Reading casino! |

| Manchester | Summer in Manchester Posted: Fri January 18, 2008 11:00 AM UTC
Myself and a couple of friends are thinking of working for the summer in Britain. There're a few cities we are considering going to and to help us narrow our (very long) list I was just wondering if anyone would like to offer some input as to whether or not Manchester would be a good choice for the summer.
We'd be looking for somewhere where - Job availibility won't be a problem - A decent nightlife for 20 year olds - Cheap cost of living, or at least, not expensive - There's a nice amount of touristy things to do. Edinburgh, for example, is exactly the kind of place I'm looking for, but I've already visited it, so would like to try somewhere new Really, REALLY appreciate feedback! |

| Manchester | How to get back to the City from the Apollo Theatre late at night Posted: Tue December 4, 2007 08:54 PM UTC
Coming over for a gig on my own. A bit worried about how I'll get back to the city centre in Manchester afterwards. Don't feel like walking, but maybe there will be lots of others walking "with" me after the gig? If so, it won't be so spooky! Is there a taxi stand with plenty of taxis after the gigs? I actually have nightmares about this, beacause I was supposed to go with someone who can't make it.

| Manchester | Ultimate Frisbee in Manchester? Posted: Wed November 21, 2007 03:19 PM UTC
Hi, I signed on to VT just to ask this question!
I am moving to Manchester in February of 2008 from Boston, MA, in the USA. One thing I don't want to leave behind is Ultimate Frisbee! I know this sport isn't as popular yet in the UK as it is in the USA, but I am hoping someone can tell me if there is a team or club in South Manchester I might be able to play with. Actually, anywhere around Manchester is ok, it is just that I will be living in Didsbury for at least the first 3 months. Thanks! |

What's it like in the city centre on new years eve. Is it busy or do most people party at home. Is there anything on at midnight such as crowds in a square with a firework display.

| Manchester | One Day in Manchester Posted: Mon September 24, 2007 12:56 PM UTC
Hi! I will be coming to Manchester with my wife and 4 years old dughter in December and I have a few questions. Thanks in advance for your answers.
1- We will stay at Midland Manchester. Is it a good choice? What's the best way to get us there from the airport? Please consider we have three luggages and 4 years old daughter. 2- We will stay in Manchester for one day. What is a "must to buy" from Manchester? Any outlet shopping for top quality brands? 3- Any interesting places for our daughter? 4- We will take the train to Liverpool. How long would it take? Which train takes us directly to Liverpool? Any suggestions? Which station should we depart consideing the location of our hotel? 5- Our flight back home will be on 13.30 and again via.Manchester Airport. I was wondering if there is a direct train from Edinburgh to Manchester and if yes which train should we take considering the need to be at the airport at least 2 hours befre the flight (i.e 11.30 am) Thanks in advance |

| Manchester | Good ideas for a budget hotel/hostel? Posted: Fri September 7, 2007 10:28 AM UTC
Hi,
does anybody know a good place to stay in Manchester for one or two nights? I am looking for a good budget solution - either hotel or a hostel would be fine, too. I will do research on hostel.com. But maybe someone has a good hint. I have never been in Manchester and do not know much about it yet. So I am also interested in some nice ideas what I should not miss within one day, where is a nice place to spend the evening etc. Maybe there are some typical things I have to get a taste of? Thank you, best, Chris. |

Hi everyone,
I am moving to Manchester next week; I already have been there checking out the city and living but I would like to ask people living there if they have any up-to-date input to share. Regarding shopping for the house, transportation (I will not have a car), eating out, clothing stores, computer stores (THAT IS A VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE) and which cellphone SIM card to buy... Thank you all in advance for your contribution, Paula |

| Manchester | How to go to Huddersfield from Manchester Posted: Sun August 26, 2007 06:07 AM UTC
Hello !!
I will be flying to Manchester airport and from there need to go to Huddersfield...can anybody please help me by telling how to go to Huddersfield.... I visited the National Express website but they have only 2 servies to Huddersfield per day and the travel time is 3 1/2 hours. Can you please help me by telling any other good, cheaper and frequent means of going to Huddersfield because national express has only two services per day that means we will have to wait for hours at the airport if our flight arrival is at other timings than the bus departure. Please help. Thanks.... Jimmy |
