Philippines Posted: Wed May 16, 2012 09:34 AM UTC
Hi everyone, I have visited the Philippines many times, but never in August. I'm just wondering if it's the typhoon season? If so, what are ferry crossings like for Cebu to Dumaguete at this time of year? Or would it still be ok to fly from Manila to Dumaguete, then bus to Cebu? I understand that the bus route includes a short trip across the straight to Cebu Island.
Thanks in advance, Alex.

Cambodia Posted: Wed May 16, 2012 04:21 AM UTC
Does anyone know about any wildlife experiences in Cambodia? We are planning on spend two weeks in Cambodia in November as I have always wanted to visit Angkor Wat and the temples. But I’m also a wildlife lover and would like to spend a part of our holiday in search of some Cambodian wildlife.

Does anyone know of what experiences are available? From my research I know about the Birds, the river dolphins and recently I heard about a gibbon spotting experience in Ratanakiri. Does anyone know anything about any of these experiences?

Thailand Posted: Wed May 16, 2012 01:18 AM UTC
I am travelling to Thailand in August, mainly visiting the south east islands & then the west I have a few pending questions:

1. What is the weather ACTUALY like on the islands in august? I've heard mixed views (mainly east better than west) if so is there a time of day best to catch a visit to say hot spots like maya bay etc on the west in particular?

2. In travelling from east to west to visit Phang Nga Bay/Phi Phi etc, what mainland location would be best to set off from, Phuket or Krabi?

3. Finally, Is there any worthwhile attractions on the mainland south Thailand such as national parks that would be worth checking out whilst down there visiting the islands

Responses would be much appreciated!

China Posted: Tue May 15, 2012 04:07 PM UTC
I'm looking for information about international calling cards in China. When I'm in Europe, I usually buy a calling card at the tabac or tabacchi etc. Just wondering if China has similar cards, and if so, where I would buy them. I'm not taking my cell phone - just want a card to make a couple of quick calls home to the US.

Thanks.

Boracay Island Posted: Tue May 15, 2012 10:37 AM UTC
Hi,

I am thinking about relocating to live in Boracay and would like to know the closest cinema. I already know Boracay has amazing things to offer but would just like to know where I need to go to be able to visit a cinema.

I know the Island does not have a cinema. I looked online at the Gaisano mall in Kalibo but this has now closed I think. Would the closest cinema be in Iloilo?

Thanks a lot

Beijing Posted: Tue May 15, 2012 02:53 AM UTC
Hey everyone!

I'm arriving in Beijing on June 18th to study for two months at a university in the Haidian district. I want to experience as much culture as possible and so I am trying to locate a homestay with a chinese family.

I've searched quite a bit over the past couple months, with no concrete results. Does anyone have a suggestion? Maybe a good agency to go through or a site you've had success with? I would gladly teach English for an hour a day in exchange for just a place to sleep and an internet connection.

Thanks!
Nolan

Nanjing Posted: Mon May 14, 2012 03:39 PM UTC
We're planning on going to Nanjing for a day from Shanghai, not staying overnight.

We're most interested in seeing the Massacre Memorial. Wondering if we also have time to see the Ming tombs at Purple Mountain. How to get between the two sites, etc? Is there anywhere we could have lunch around either of those places?

Our hotel is arranging the train tickets for us and gave us a return time of 7pm. We would probably leave Shanghai at 8am taking the fast train.

Gorod Bishkek Posted: Mon May 14, 2012 02:26 PM UTC
Hello,

I am going to work in Bishkek the whole month of June. What is the weather like? Is it blistering hot or do I need a jacket? With draconian restrictions on baggage, what do I absolutely need to take and what can I buy there?

Any info is appreciated.
THANKS!

Legaspi Posted: Mon May 14, 2012 11:02 AM UTC
We'll be backpacking to Legaspi City on our way to Donsol, and want to see Lignon Hills, the Japanese Tunnel and Cagsawa Ruins. Our accommodation is in Donsol, so we'll be bringing our backpacks around. I've heard there's a ride to Lignon Hills, but I'm not sure how far we need to walk from the trike or taxi to the tunnel and the ruins. Me and my companions are not that strong, so I have doubts if we can go around with our backpacks all the time. I want to know how far do we need to walk to get to the site. Thanks.

Will be in Bali for about 4 nights in August and just budgeting... Been going through the prices given in Lonely Planet (2010), but that might be a bit outdated?

Just wondering how much we can expect to spend on a decent meal.. and beer..?
