help me with salary Posted: Mon June 27, 2005 04:53 PM UTC
hallo,
is there anyone who could help me about salary range?
I've read a lot but i can't really understand which is a low/medium and high salary for European/American.
The problem with me is that the company that is offering a position doesn't pay for any benefit, so i will need to find an house for rent, car, and everything else...
the question: I have an offer for about 25.000 real all in...
is it fair or i should give up??
thanks a lot...
A.

Living in Doha Posted: Sun June 26, 2005 05:20 AM UTC
Hi there, I am going to work in a construction site in Doha in a couple of month, but I still have no idea of living in Doha, the people, living cost, finding accomodation, social life especially for a woman in the middle east all by myself. At the moment I live in a crowded and dense city of Jakarta with population of more than 15 million people.

General Posted: Sat June 25, 2005 09:02 AM UTC
Hi there,
My husband is now working in Doha ( was there since begining of May 2005) and I will be joining him in October this year. He is given a family apartment called Al-Jawhara Residence... can anyone tell me how is the place like? Is it convenient for me to do household shopping or marketing? Is it possible for me to get a part time job? Is 23,500 QAR per month sufficient ? Would much appreciate if someone can tell me more about Doha.. Thank you in advance :-)

How to marry in Qatar Posted: Fri June 10, 2005 02:03 PM UTC
I was recently on holiday in Doha, staying with my parents who are residents there. While there I met and fell in love with a Philippino girl who is there under sponsorship for a 2 year contract working in a plastic surgery clinic. My question is how, if at all, can we get married in Qatar? I am not building my hopes up as i have been told that we need to be residents there bofore we can marry there. I am also looking into bringing her to the UK for us to marry and settle down, which is what we want to happen. I just wanted to know if it would be possible for us to marry in doha first, then i can start proceedings to bring her to the UK as my wife. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Transit visa needed for US citizen? Posted: Fri June 10, 2005 03:22 AM UTC
I am a US citizen and have a 3 hour layover in Doha on my way from Europe to Asia. I've heard conflicting reports, but do I need to obtain a transit visa? If so, do I need to do so ahead of time?
Any info on this would be a lifesaver.
Thank you so much!

New in Doha from Canada Posted: Sat May 28, 2005 03:53 PM UTC
Greeting from Doha,
Being in Doha for few days allowed me to check out the beach, City Center and most the places in Doha. The only thing is concerned me is the weather. it is so hot here compared to Canada :).
Well, I will be looking for a used car or SUV " to fit a big guy like me" :). I'm little tight in cash at this time but need to invest in a good car.
if u have any idea, pls drop me a line. ressane2002@yahoo.com
Best Regards.

Internet connection speed? Car prices? Posted: Wed May 11, 2005 04:34 AM UTC
Hi,
It's a small world, and I may find myself over here sometime soon. At least it's sort of on the table right now! lol
Can you please tell me what type of internet connections you get in Doha? I know the hotels are probably high-speed, but what about in the villas?
And is it easy to find a good used car to buy? What are the general car prices there? Is there a website that might show dealers' ads?
Thank you so much for any help you can give me.

Questions about Doha Posted: Wed April 20, 2005 10:15 PM UTC
Hi,
I just have a couple of questions. Is it easy to find schools of Arabic language? I've heard that driving is kind of chaotic. Is it that bad? Is the rental apartment expensive? How much approximately. And, finally, Can I find easily a gym to work out ? is it expensive?
Thank You

Long Stop over in Doha Posted: Wed April 13, 2005 05:51 PM UTC
Hello,
Myself and my cousin, both British females have a 14 hour stop over in Doha on the way back from Bangkok. Does anyone have any tips on what we can do? Ideally jumping in a cab and going to a friendly hotel to use their pool/beach and restaurant facilities would be great.....has anyone else done this, if so did you need visa's to get out of the airport and how much cash and which currency did you need?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks

Qatar airline and airport Posted: Tue April 12, 2005 09:34 AM UTC
I will be going to Egypt, Israel and Jordan next month and I was booked on Qatar Airways. How's the food and service on this airline? Since there will be a transfer-stopover at Doha, will it possible for me to buy at the airport's duty-free stores? How do the stores compare to those at say, Dubai?
Thanks for any info.

modest accomodations in doha Posted: Fri March 25, 2005 04:55 AM UTC
hi!
i'm travelling to doha in mid may and will be travelling alone and not for business. i am looking for reasonable accomodations and find most mainstream hotels too pricey. any suggestions on good housing and location? any feedback on either the regency or mercury?
also, if i choose a hotel that doesn't have a shuttle from the airport, how much does it cost to get to a central location for hotels?
i'm really looking forward to my trip and would love to hear any feedback!
thanks!

how to obtain quicker the residantial card? Posted: Wed March 2, 2005 06:47 PM UTC
hi there,
I`m living in doha from 2 weeks now. I was not prepared for time needed to obtain the residential visa on my passport.
How can administrative things go faster?
Is it true that I can`t use my french driving license without the visa?
Can I travel to other countries (barhein, UAE...) while my passport has no residential stamp, and come back to Doha?
Thanks. Bye, Jean Michel

Much to do? Posted: Wed February 16, 2005 11:16 AM UTC
I am travelling from Bangkok to London, with a long stopover in Doha, meaning that I will have most of the day to spend there. Is there much to do in the surrounding areas of the airport, and is it worth venturing out for a few hours?
