Qatar What to do over the EID holidays
Posted: Fri September 30, 2005 07:00 AM UTC
Any suggestions what do do over the holiday period? I am moving to Qatar in 2 weeks time and am worried that I am stuck in Doha without anyone around and not knowing how to pass the time. What are the nice weekend things to do in Qatar or which places are nice to go... other than heading to Dubai.

Any help and great ideas.. bring 'em on.

Qatar Diving in Qatar
Posted: Fri September 30, 2005 06:59 AM UTC
Hi,

I am moving to Qatar in a couple of weeks time. Since I have started diving not too long ago I am keen to do more of that in Qatar. Does anyone know what the diving there is like.
Is there any dive center that offers trips out to the Gulf on weekends.

Cheers,

Hi,

Can you drive from Qatar to the UAE on land? I heard it's difficult (or near impossible) to get into Saudi Arabia by road but can you get to the UAE without having to go through SA? On a map it doesn't look like there is a direct link.

Thanks for anyones help.

Hi,

I'll be reaching Doha airport in the morning and my next flight is at night. So i'll have about 13 hours. I was wondering if I'll be given a hotel to stay at? Is there any hotel at the Doha airport? Or are the passengers shuttled to a hotel outside the airport? Whats the name of this hotel? Anyone knows? Thanks.

Qatar cost of living
Posted: Thu July 21, 2005 08:19 AM UTC
Hi Everyone,

Could someone let me know the current cost of living in Doha.

How much is a liter of petrol?

How much is a monthly rent for an unfurnished appartment in a decent location in Doha? Do they usually have facilities like pool and gym etc.

Is there any income tax in Qatar? (I hope not ;)

Thanks to anyone who might be able to help.

Qatar scuba diving and hotel beach resort
Posted: Sun July 17, 2005 08:34 AM UTC
i will soon work in qatar, signed up a working contract for 2 years. can somebody inform me about regency hotel/s.is this managed by a good company?how many hotels do they own in qatar?...

im 28 years old single filipina and loves scuba diving or anything that has to do with the ocean. can anybody guide or tell me where to go, who to contact etc. i've read about suggestions on going to hotel beaches than to public ones, where can i find the cheapest deal? how about equipments? is it readily available on the resort? or do i have to bring my own scuba equipment? boat dives?wreck dives? are these allowed?

please inform me of other activities like concerts? movie houses? etc...

im a little concern about discriminations as well? i know that we are responsible for our actions but are there any incident of abuse, discriminations etc. to filipina or asians in qatar? how do western people accepts or treats people like us? i know it's awkward to ask but i just wanted to know.

is there anyone who could help me about salary range?
I've read a lot but i can't really understand which is a low/medium and high salary for European/American.
The problem with me is that the company that is offering a position doesn't pay for any benefit, so i will need to find an house for rent, car, and everything else...
the question: I have an offer for about 25.000 real all in...
is it fair or i should give up??

thanks a lot...

Doha Living in Doha
Posted: Sun June 26, 2005 04:20 AM UTC
Hi there, I am going to work in a construction site in Doha in a couple of month, but I still have no idea of living in Doha, the people, living cost, finding accomodation, social life especially for a woman in the middle east all by myself. At the moment I live in a crowded and dense city of Jakarta with population of more than 15 million people.
