Money exchange and access Posted: Sat October 24, 2009 06:08 PM UTC
I don't get to travel often but will be in Doha a few days. What is the advised and cheapest way to exchange money, or access my american accounts. I do not have AE.
Also, a cell phone would be convenient while there. Any information on cost and ease of a prepaid phone that can be rented or purchased there would be helpful.
Thank you!

UNMARRIED COUPLE STAYING IN HOTEL Posted: Mon August 31, 2009 09:31 AM UTC
HI ALL,
THIS COULD NOT BE THE TOTALLY TRAVEL RELATED QUESTION. AS I AM CURIOUS TO KNOW IT MORE CLEAR, I SUMMIT THIS FOR YOUR KIND ANSWER.
IN QATAR, ACCORDING TO WWW.TRIPADVISOR.COM, IS IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STAY IN AVERAGED HOTEL IF THE COUPLE IS UNMARRIED?
IS THERE ANY STRICT RULE APPLY TO THE FEMALE EMPLOYEES GOING OUT HOURS ON WEEKEND? CAN THE NON-MUSLIM LADY GO OUT ALONE? SAFE? (E.G; MALL,MARKET,MUSEUM)
FROM SAUDI ARABIA TO QATAR, IS IT ANY PUBLIC BUS CONNECTION?
THANKS IN ADVANCE AND APPRECIATE FOR YOUR ANSWERS.
REGARDS, ZIN

Recommendations for Tour Operators? Posted: Wed June 24, 2009 08:27 PM UTC
Dear all: a few in the forum seem to have this problem but haven't yet seen an answer addressing it. I have two days free next week (July 1st & 2nd) in Doha and am thinking of doing an organized tour of the city and one to the inland sea. Is there any tour operator you can recommend that would do this with one person e.g. collect a number of visitors together for a tour? Do you know if the hotels typically organize this? Hotel websites did not say anything on this. Thanks

Can I enter Qatar with Israeli visa stamp in passport? Posted: Fri June 12, 2009 07:21 AM UTC
I went to Jerusalem from Amman in August 2008. During that time, Qatar allowed an Israeli trade office in Doha. Now, I heard that trade office is closed due to the war in Gaza. Does that mean I cannot enter Qatar now? I have a US passport. I would like to tour Qatar for a few days next month. Thanks!

Place of interest in Doha Posted: Sun June 7, 2009 05:43 PM UTC
Hi,
I will visit Doha next July for a week. Anyone can suggest me interesting place to visit in Doha. Any nice mosque? forte?
or somewhere a bit out of town to see?
I also like to see market with typical local jewelery. Not that gold or expensive things, but more to ethnic jewelery

I'm a Canadian Citizen wishing to go on a visit to Doha, Qatar. Do I need hotel voucher? Posted: Sun May 10, 2009 12:08 AM UTC
I'm a Canadian citizen wishing to visit Doha, Qatar to visit a friend that works there. I have looked into the requirements of obtaining a visit visa to Qatar and I am getting mixed comments or information on what is required. The information that I'm getting is making me more confused rather than making it clear to me what I need to do and what I have to bring. I was told that I needed to get a hotel reservation certificate from a known hotel in Doha from some people and getting a different answer from other people and websites regarding visit visa requirements in Qatar.
I don't really need a means of accommodation because my friend has a flat that has 3 bedrooms and shares with other expats there as well.
So my question is, "Do I really need to have a hotel reservation in Doha to be able to be granted a visit visa in Qatar and how long will my visit visa last?"
This would help my trip go a lot smoother if I find out what I really need to do.
Thank in advance for all the comments that I'll get. Have a good day everyone.
CHEERS!

Doha Stopover Posted: Sat November 29, 2008 12:59 PM UTC
Hi
I have a stopover in Doha for about 7 hours. So I just want to find out if there are any people out there have been on a city tour of Doha during their stopover.
I have also been told that the city is very close to the airport, if there are any recommendations of that to see during my stopover..... spending 7 hours at the airport is not an option :)
Thanks for any help provided.

About Qatar Palace Hotel ... or other recommendations on budget/low-priced hotels in Doha? Posted: Wed November 19, 2008 03:48 PM UTC
Hi, I will be in Doha in Dec 13-15, 2008 and am trying to look for accomdation now. One of the (budget - presumably those costing < USD $150) hotels lonely planet recommended is Qatar Palace Hotel, 44 Al Asmakh St. Their website was given as www.qatarpal.com.qa, however the link doesnt seem to work anymore.
So I was just wondering if anyone has been to Doha lately and had actually stayed at the hotel and what do they think of it. The information and reviews on it is so sparse (i cant even find a single picture of Qatar Palace Hotel online!)
I am concerned as i am a single woman traveller and would not like to end up not finding the hotel exist anymore there.
Also, my budget for hotel stay would preferably be something costing around USD $150 or less or stretching a bit (< $200), and at somewhere central (ie walkable to Corniche or Souk).
Can anyone provide suggestions? Another hotel i had in mind is Al Mourouj Inn (located at Old Salatah Museum Street Behind National Museum, Doha, Qatar)
Thanks!

Hi,
I will arrive in Doha at 19:50 and leave at 08:00 the following morning. I really would like to see the city but is there anything to see at night? Is it safe? I thought that I would have a full day but I misunderstood :-(.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Doha Stopover Posted: Tue July 15, 2008 09:57 PM UTC
I have an 8 hour stopover in Doha on the 20th of december, and was just trying to find out whether I will be able to have a bot of a nosy around the city to get out the airport. Would this be possible? Would I need a transit visa on a British Passport?
And if a transit is possible, how long is the journey into the city from the airport?
Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Day stopover in Doha Posted: Sat June 28, 2008 07:35 PM UTC
Hi there
Will be going to the UK in August and wondered if it's worth doing a full day stopover in Doha, Qatar? Have been looking at things to do there, but there doesn't seem that much of interest as far as I can see! (But with all the new development going on, I could be wrong!) Does anyone have must-see things to do for a day (from approx. 7am - 11pm on (probably) a Monday).
Thanks in advance!
