Muscat Airport Transfer to Hotel
Posted: Sun August 31, 2008 01:46 PM UTC
Hi,

My wife and I are staying in the Ramee Guestline Hotel Qurum. We will be arriving at the airport and want to know the options for getting to our hotel. Taxi would be our preferred method. I've already done a quick search on the internet for companies that offer transfers, and they offered it for £70 one way. I know this is extortionate!

Any help?

Muscat Dubai to muscat with family?
Posted: Fri May 30, 2008 05:52 PM UTC
Guys

We are planning to visit Muscat from Dubai through road in July end- August first week.

We do have a valid Kuwaiti residency and definetely will take a UAE visit visa ( on arrival) to spend two days in Dubai. However there are two questions , related to Oman visit///

1. Will we require visit visa for Oman too? will it be available on land borders while crossing from Dubai to Muscat.. if we enter oman , our visit visa to dubai will be cancelled so how we can resturn to dubai from Oman?

2. What is average temperature in Muscat those days ? Will it be hot like other countries in Middle East?

Muscat Studying Arabic in Oman?
Posted: Tue March 25, 2008 01:52 AM UTC
I am a college student interested in learning Arabic. By summertime, I will have completed 2 semesters of Arabic. I am extremely interested in continuing my learning of Arabic over the summer, and I was wondering where the best place to learn the language would be. Some things that are of importance to me are: quality of instruction, location of the school, and activities outside of the school. Since I am going alone, I want to study somewhere where I won't feel secluded or outside of society. Also, scenery is of great importance. All things considered, where would you guys recommend studying Arabic? (I want to study for a period of about 2 months...I'm not sure if that changes anything). ( I know I posted this about a month ago in the Sousse and Damascus forum; however, those are no longer options.)

Muscat Intercontinental hotel with kids
Posted: Tue January 29, 2008 11:37 AM UTC
We are just about to book a five night stay in March, just wondered if anyone can give us any feedback on this hotel. We have a toddler and a 6month baby, want to be sure the hotel is child friendly and safe. We have been offered a Club Room whatever that is (no info on website going to try and give them a call for clarification). Can't wait to escape Bahrain for a while!

Muscat Driving down to Muscat from Dubai
Posted: Tue December 4, 2007 07:30 AM UTC
Hi:

We are driving in a sedan car down to Muscat from Dubai this month end for 5-6 days. We would ideally want to do the following:
a. Drive through the coast (time is not a constraint).
b. Camp 1 night in a safe place with other tourists around.
c. Watch dolphins from the best possible place.
d. Any other places in & around Muscat that are of historical/geographical importance & safe to drive.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Muscat Any suggestions for a good dolphin watching tour?
Posted: Sun November 11, 2007 09:26 PM UTC
We are off to Muscat for Christmas and the activity that is top of the list (even above the usual eating, drinking etc) is taking a boat trip to see the dolphins in the wild. We are not interested in diving, just want to watch from the boat. I cannot find any hard and fast details on the web about these trips. Lots of sites refer to them but I cannot find any details on price, duration etc. Note that price is not the prime concern, we want the the best tour not the cheapest (but would be happy if one particular company was both).

TIA

Muscat Opening hours during Ramadan
Posted: Wed September 19, 2007 01:27 PM UTC
Hi

I will be working in Oman from next Sunday for 3 days , with one day free before I fly out again.

I've spoken to the company I'm working with and they have reduced working hours
from 7am -2pm

Once I finish work in the afternoons I'm wondering if anything will actually be open ? Is there anywhere I can look up opening times ?

I'm not too perturbed by not being able to eat or drink until the evening
but just curious in terms of sightseeing etc.

Many thanks

Muscat Hotel Near MUSCAT AİRPORT - seeking advice
Posted: Sun June 24, 2007 08:30 PM UTC
We have a short overnight layover at Muscat Airport at the end of August and are wondering if there are any affordable hotels near the airport. I found one that is 2km away but it is AU 232 for a double!?!!! How much would a taxi cost to the city center in case we book a hotel there instead? Still seems silly since it is such a short layover.

(sorry for posting above with weird script - had some keyboard trouble here in Turkey)

Muscat 1 month's stay besides the beach
Posted: Sun May 6, 2007 01:47 PM UTC
Hi all.

I would be travelling with my wife & 2 small kids for a stay of around 4 weeks to Muscat.

I was wondering if there are any nice hotels besides the beach so that when I am off to work .. my family can have a nice time around. Anything closer to any family resort would be our preference.

thanx.

Muscat Hotel advice
Posted: Thu March 15, 2007 11:17 PM UTC
I am travelling to Muscat from Dubai for four days with a friend in June this year. We are looking for a decent hotel but not too expensive, preferably in in a location near to some historical/nice tourist sights (e.g. Muttrah). Could anyone recommend a hotel? Also, will there be any problem in asking for a shared room for two people of the opposite sex who are not married-we are just friends so would be happiest with a twin but wondered if this would be frowned upon in a smaller hotel?

Muscat A chaep hotel in Muscat
Posted: Tue February 20, 2007 09:34 AM UTC
I've been searching a cheap(better if <30 USD) hotel in Muscat to stay for a week in May.
Could anyone please give me the bcontact information (better e mail/fax) of such a hotel to book.
It would be an additional advantage if I found a hotel near Royal Hospital, but if not,it would be also OK.

Thank you.

Muscat Any ideas for a 6 hour stopover

I am having to do a 6 hour stopover at Muscat airport on a Gulfair flight en route to Delhi. All the reports I have read on this aiport I have read on the web make it out to be pretty dire with nothing to do. Is it possible to go sightseeing at all. I would have at least 4 hours to kill. Where could I go and how would I do it?

Any suggestions gratefully received or I will go out of my mind (I also have a 6 hour stopover onthe way back!! - and no, I didn't book the flights myself, its with a group tour but I won't meet anyone from the group til I arrive in Delhi

Muscat DRIVING FROM DUBAI TO MUSCAT
Posted: Thu August 17, 2006 07:13 AM UTC
Is it more cost-effective to hire a vehicle and drive from Dubai to Muscat or take the bus/flight to Muscat and hire a vehicle in Muscat. Is hiring a SUV /4WD/Mini Van expensive in Muscat ?
Any figures on Vehicle hire charges in Muscat ? Are there specific rules for UAE License holders?

Mintaqat Masqat Visa, beaches, accomodation etc.
Posted: Mon July 24, 2006 01:05 PM UTC
Hello everyone!

I'll be travelling to Muscat with my boyfriend in the end of August 2006. I have been surfing the net for budget accomodation and came accross the following options that could be potential: Hotel Marina close to fish market and bus station as well as Beach Hotel Muscat and Holiday Villa hotel close to Qurum beach. Any recommendations? However, the contact e-mail addresses that I managed to find don't seem to work so will it be necessary to book the hotel in advance in the end of August or do you think it's just ok to walk in and manage to get a room for about a week's time?

Another question, please: August being a rather hot month in Oman, what beach would you recommend for swimming, and are there any shared microtaxis going to the beaches at all? Is it ok for a western lady to swim only in bikinis or would a t-shirt be recommended in order not to cause any disapprovment in local people?

We are going to travel independently and it is rather difficult to find trustworthy information on visas when entering the country. As far as I have understood, as EU nationals we can buy the tourist visas at the airport but will any photographs or hotel confirmation be needed as well...?

Thank you for further info already in advance :) Looking forward to visiting Oman and Muscat in a few weeks!!!
