Planning trip in May Posted: Fri November 6, 2009 02:14 PM UTC
Hi,
I am planning a short trip in May to Beirut. How is the weather in May?
I can only go for a short 3D/2N - yes, I know this is too short, but can someone help with itenary?
This is the proposed plan
Tues:
Fly in to Beirut airport by noon, check in hotel, visit National Museum (please suggest any other places to visit)
Wed Whole day:
Thinking of doing a Baalbek, Ksara and Anjar tour from Beirut, however how come they mostly have the tour specifically on Tuesday and Fridays? Unable to find a tour that is on Wednesday. Can someone help me with this, also to recommend any reliable tour operator?
If we do not join a 1 day tour, is it easy to get to Baalbek and Anjar by ourself on public transport and how?
Thurs:
Thought of visiting Beirut attractions (please suggest), depart late evening.
Thanks!

5 days in Beirut in Nov Posted: Thu October 22, 2009 05:51 PM UTC
Hi!
I will be in Beirut in about a week's time. I've ready some good suggestions on places of interest in the city in this forum. I usually like to do some activities on my trips so i was wondering if anyone can suggest some outdoor activities to do in/near Beirut.
I will be staying in Hamra. Is it safe for a girl to jog alone?
VTers interested to meet up please email me.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

funky restaurants and places Posted: Mon September 28, 2009 04:04 PM UTC
hello
I shall be one week in BEYROUTH and alongside the usual historical and cultural sites I would like to see a bit of the new young urban culture. Where are the extravagant new artists gathering? Is there a cafe? A restaurant? Not the squatting type but the creative new urban guys...I am also looking for very good new FUNKY restaurants with sort of FUSION food and with very modern and sophisticated decor, design restaurants so to speak. Which would you recommend?Thank you already!

Help need transport for large family Posted: Thu September 17, 2009 11:00 AM UTC
I am planning a trip to Lebanon late October. Does anyone have information about hiring a mini bus which will take 10 passengers.
We need to hire by the day, but could committ to set scehedule if needed, MUST BE WITH DRIVER. I want a safe driver who preferably speaks English, my husband is Lebanese so we could manage but he may not always be on the trip. We would have a baby with us so would need a car seat but I can buy one if not fitted. Has anyone hired recently???
Many thanks

I'll be staying in Hamra street. is there a possiblity to join a tour for one day. will I be able to see the famous Jeita Grotto? what do you suggest that I can see during this day keeping in mind that it'll be Ramadan and I'll be fasting.
Thanks

Beirut Guidance? Posted: Sun August 16, 2009 04:10 AM UTC
Hi everyone,
It's my first time posting here...so, hello!
I'm considering a trip to Beirut in mid-september. I was just wondering, since I will be traveling alone, is it easy to meet people in Beirut and have some fun?
Does anyone have any good places or hostels I can stay at where I can meet ppl from all over? I usually use Hostelworld to guide me but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information on places to stay there.
Also, are the party nights usually on weekends or are they more of an everyday thing?
Thanks!! Really looking forward to my trip!

Beirut in August Posted: Tue July 7, 2009 11:42 PM UTC
Hi,
I am going to be coming back to Beirut for my second trip in August of this year. I saw an earlier post about hiring a driver to the Bekka Valley, Baalbeck. The last time I had been there I did a hired tour, but, my taxi driver had told me he could also be hired for the day and he would have take me too. As a single female, age 36, would that be a safe thing to do? I felt very safe when I was there the last time, but, was warned not to get too comfortable because of how well the trip went. I felt comfortable in the group setting, however, think it would be nice to have the "non-traditional tour" experience also. Any thoughts?
Also, I will be staying in the Hamra district this time, last visit was Raouche, but only for 4 days. I am hoping there will be plenty of places within walking distance of the hotel. I am sure I will have many more questions that will arise but just wanted to ask the one about the tours first!!!! Thank you!!!!

Visa to Lebanon Posted: Fri May 15, 2009 02:23 PM UTC
Hello Vters.
I'm a 23 year old Romanian planning a visit to Lebanon and I'm travelling alone. I called the local embassy and I was told I can receive the vis aat the airport and all I need is to give the address of the family/hotel i'll be staying at.
Is this true? I want to double check before wasting 500 euros on the plane ticket.
Thank you,
Delia.

Hi all,
I will be traveling to Cairo and then to Gaza as part of a student delegation. I'd like to travel to Lebanon either at the beginning or end of the trip, and was wondering 1. would I even be able to enter Lebanon and 2. are flights between Cairo and Beirut relatively inexpensive?

Two Days in Beirut Posted: Fri April 24, 2009 09:16 AM UTC
My son is going to Beirut, but he will have only two days there, a Sunday and Monday. I've looked at the VT pages about Beirut, however most of them have been written some years ago, so I hope to get some more recent information here in the forum from fellow VTers.
What's the best way to get around in the city? Taxis?
Is it true that US dollars are the accepted currency, also at the airport for the visa?
He'll be there in mid May, a few weeks before the elections. What will the situation be like? Will security be extra tight?
Thank you for any help.

Nejmeh square closed? Posted: Tue March 17, 2009 09:09 AM UTC
Hello,
I have been to Lebanon recently and it seems all the streets leading to Nejmeh square in Beirut are closed (all entrances blocked and guarded by soldiers who permit only some people inside and did not permit me). I wonder what are the reasons for this and is the square always closed?
