Lebanon Diesel car
Posted: Tue July 8, 2008 07:42 PM UTC
Hi everybody,

we are leaving in a week to travel by car through amongst other the Middle East. As I was born in Lebanon, I would find it a pity to miss out on Lebanon but it seems you can't drive into Lebanon with a diesel car. Anyone knows what the story exactly is? Can't you drive in Lebanon with a diesel car period or can't you drive in Lebanon with a diesel car with exceptions?

Hope someone can help!

Posted: Sun June 15, 2008 09:13 PM UTC
Hi all,

Im looking to travel back to Lebanon from either Syria or Turkey this coming August,

my friends here in London cant come with me this August so will be travelling alone, also my friends in Lebanon are not really into clubbing and the like, so I was hoping to meet up with people in Lebanon who are keen to go to the clubs, e.g BO18, Acid, Crystal and so on,

anyone up for it then let me know, or if their is a forum for solo travellers looking for the same, the a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Lebanon Current situation//holliday Lebanon
Posted: Tue May 13, 2008 10:05 AM UTC
My appeal goes to anyone who lives in Lebanon.
First of all, sorry to hear about the fighting. I hope none is hurt and all are safe.
But how is the situation in common. Do you think this thing will blow over?

I travelling to Beirut in mid june, and hope that things have quiet down by then.
but to get an indicator on how things are I was wondering if anyone could help me with a few questions:
Is the airport open at this time(I heard it was closed)?
does the infra structure work?
are the busses driving?
are people going to work?
that kind of things....

any reply would be preciated.

thanks

Beirut Stay with Lebanese family...
Posted: Sun April 13, 2008 10:54 AM UTC
Hi all...
I'm wanting to travel to Lebanon the last week of June. I have been studying arabic for the last year & 1/2 & am wanting to travel around Lebanon & be in a situation where i HAVE to speak in arabic to people. I'd LOVE to also learn some lebanese cooking. I was wondering if there are any cooking classes available? I looked up on lebweb but couldn't find much. Also, was wondering if any families took boarders for a week or so?? A friend suggested this as an idea to help me understand the language as well as day to day lifestyle.

Thanks

Beirut Place to stay in Beirut
Posted: Tue February 5, 2008 05:12 PM UTC
We are to young Danish journalists coming to Beirut in the periode from the mittle of March to the beginning of April. We are looking for a place to stay for the time. The best would be a furnitured apartment. Are there anyone who can give an advice where to search for apartments or help with contacts to someone living in Beirut who can help us in our search?

Alternative suggestions of places to stay (cheap hotels, hostels with private rooms or private accommodation etc.) are also welcome.

Hi All,

I am visiting Lebanon for the first time ever on March.

I will be staying for 4 days only.

Can you please suggest a schedule for my visit?

What are the places that I should not miss?

What are the best restaurants (and where?)?

What are the best markets and malls?

Is there a specific place that I must visit?

Thanks all.

Lebanon Skiing - Feb or Mar?
Posted: Sun January 6, 2008 02:19 AM UTC
When is the best time to go out of those 2 months. Our availability is either End of Feb or beginning -mid March? We're planning on a 5 day trip but also want to go clubbing in Beirut so skiing is not all and everything, but there should still be enough snow for the better skiers in the group. i.e. the larger slopes need to be open.
Would also appreciate tips if we should split trip in 3 days skiing + stay in resort, 2 days beirut or if we can do 5 days beirut drive up on the days we want to ski?

Beirut Bruit to Jerusalem
Posted: Mon December 10, 2007 05:55 PM UTC
Is there a way to drive from Beruit to Jerusalem. Is the boarder very dangerous? I'm a dark skinned American that has traveled extensivily, but could I make that journey if I had Lebanese friend drop me off and an Israeli pick me up at the border?

I would rather not fly, but I may have to.

Lebanon Studying Spanish in Lebanon?
Posted: Fri December 7, 2007 01:53 PM UTC
Hey there,

I m Lebanese but I havent been in Lebanon in few years. I will be going this winter for couple of months. Since I ve spent last year studying Spanish I would like to continue to learn or practice with someone in Beirut or South. I m intermediate so I dont want to go to a beginner's school.

1- Do you know if there are clubs where I can meet Spaniards who want to learn Arabic in return of teaching Spanish.
2- In general what's the most popular site for classified ads on the internet in Lebanon?
3- Do you know some useful sites like yellowpages, weather forecast, transportation or trip planner, job ads, events... in Lebanon

Beirut Syria border crossing
Posted: Mon November 5, 2007 06:36 AM UTC
Hi,
I'm gonna be heading to Lebanon soon, by bus, via Syria. I was wondering if anyone has had the experience... and can someone say if it is possible for an American citizen to get a visa at the border? It wasn't exactly clear on the consular website.
Thank you!

Lebanon Studying in Beirut?
Posted: Thu November 1, 2007 11:23 PM UTC
I'm considering studying at the American University in Beirut, Lebanon sometime within the next few years. I am a blonde, single, 18 years old, American girl from Hawaii.

Is this a good idea? I just don't want to end up being stuck on the university campus because it's not safe or whatever to travel around by myself. Whats the safety issue for someone like me?
