| Kuwait | Eating in Kuwait Posted: Mon May 28, 2007 04:30 PM UTC
I'm going on a business trip to Kuwait, and are staying for a couple of days. There will be a lot of work to be done while I'm there, so it's important that I'm at my very best - I was wondering if someone could give me some general input about the food quality in Kuwait city restaurants. Is the hygenic standard satisfactory? Should I be prepared to take precautions regarding to what food to eat, or where to go for dinner?

| Kuwait | cost of living Posted: Tue May 22, 2007 02:37 AM UTC
Greetings:
I am wondering about the overall cost of living on say, about 8430 KD per year, with round trip airfare, furinshed housing, dependents tuition, and utilties included? No major expenses to send home, save a few hundred dollars to cover a mortgage portion from a renter. |

Hello,
I'll probably be in Kuwait for 8 hours on a stop-over in August (arriving at 10 am, departing at 6 pm). The question is : Apart from taking a taxi downtown, is there anything else one could do ? Anything intersting close to the airport perhaps ? Thank you, George |

| Kuwait | having doubts Posted: Tue April 17, 2007 12:00 PM UTC
I am from Philippines and I was offered a job there in Kuwait. I am still having doubts due to some security reasons. How safe is the place? Can someone tell me about the country's culture? What are the common adjustments I will be going through? I don't want to get culture shock that much.. I'll be making a big decision that's why I am asking for others' suggestions.
please help.. thanks.. |

| Kuwait | Life changes Posted: Mon April 2, 2007 02:31 AM UTC
So, My husband may be taking a job in Kuwait, for blackwater. I have a lot of questions about the safety. Are Americans pretty openly accepted in Kuwait? Is it safe there for a woman to be living alone for extended periods of time? How about pets? I have a small white dog and I am concerned about bringing him. What areas are safer and nicer to live in? Also, are there any diseases I might need vaccinations for? I know lots of people on here seem to ask the same questions all the time, but any individual help you can give me would be great.
This is a huge life change and I just want to know as much as possible. thanks, Chelsea |

| Kuwait | Advice sought - Moving to Kuwait in a month Posted: Wed March 28, 2007 03:32 AM UTC
Hi all,
relocating from the US to Kuwait soon. Is a 2500 KD monthly salary going to be alright? That is supposed to cover all my expenses , house, car etc. Would I be expected to spend about 500KD for a 3 BR? I do have 2 young kids and was a bit concerned about them dealing with the extreme summer and also curious about quality of medical care available. Also, how is the political situation now, given the Iraq war going on? |

| Kuwait | Desperate on Work visa application Posted: Tue January 16, 2007 02:40 AM UTC
Dear All,
What is your experience of handling visa issues with Kuwaiti Ministry. I do believe my case is the worst one. From Aug 2006 till now, the work visa still can't be fixed. In the past half year, Every Muslim holiday( e.g. Ramadan. Eid...) will suspend my case. I am totally frustrated, it is really irritating. Just wondering if it is common and normal in Kuwait, How long did you guys get the work visa from day one... |

Hey people
I'm a lebanese coming to kuwait right after new year's eve. i found a very good job offer, so i'm happy about it. i'm just freaking out for everything i'm hearing about how boring it is and stuff. Obviously, girls and alcohool are gonna be the major absents of my stay in kuwait. can you tell me more about it? can you date? can you take a girl to your house even if its only for a nice dinner or DVD?or even something else?(dont worry, i'm not a pervert!!!)can you go out with her in malls and restaurants? i know it seems like silly questions, but i dont have any other questions because i already did my research on cars, accomodation, etc... :) i'll also be posting my email soon, in case anybody would want to socialize. take care |

| Kuwait | American Girl - What to Wear?! Posted: Sun December 24, 2006 10:38 PM UTC
Hello Good People! I am an American who is headed off to Kuwait for 5 days to visit a friend.I am a very conservative dresser who wears short sleeves, knee length skirts (w/boots), and I purchased a strapless dress in the event we go somewhere special. Can someone please tell me if I will offend anyone by showing my arms, any portion of my legs, back, and knees? I hope this is not a stupid question. I am very concerned about how I should dress in public. Will people be offended if they see my arms?
