Doolin Staying in Doolin, no car, how difficult to get around?
Posted: Fri September 4, 2009 03:18 AM UTC
I'd like to stay a few days in Doolin and take some boat tours and bus tours. What can anyone recommend as a good central locations/hotel where I can easily walk to the pier, etc? I don't mind walking several km. I don't want to waste money on taxis. I'd love to stay at the Ballinalacken Castle Hotel but can't get an idea on how far it is from the pier, restaurants, etc. Thanx

Doolin Aran Islands ferries
Posted: Sun June 7, 2009 09:01 PM UTC
I'm off to County Clare in august and spending several days in Doolin, I know there are two or three ferry companies serving the Aran Islands but I am unsure as to how far in advance I'd need to book a ferry for a day trip to any of the islands. Is it possible to just turn up on the day or is advance booking required?

Doolin accomodation off season
Posted: Mon January 14, 2008 05:41 AM UTC
Have tried to email Mcgann's B&B about 3 times as I have heard it is great but they have not replied, and am having trouble finding any other B&B's which are open at the beginning of March. The ones I have contacted all advise they are not open at that time of the year. I am looking for somewhere within walking distance to Doolin centre for the 8th and possibly the 9th March 2008. Does any one have any suggestions.

Doolin O'Connor's Pub
Posted: Mon March 12, 2007 02:52 AM UTC
Less than 3 years ago, my wife and I stayed at the Aranview Hotel and we ate at O'Connor's Pub. The Irish Stew that I had that evening was one of the most delicious meals that I ever had. The menu indicated that the base for the sauce was Guinness. We would like to return for another meal someday, but in the meantime is it possible to get the recipe for the Stew?
Thank you.

Doolin On our way to Doolin...
Posted: Thu August 17, 2006 06:15 PM UTC
Hi Folks! My friend and I are Doolin-bound on September 2, 2006.

I've found all your pages most helpful--can't wait to see the cliffs, islands, and pubs. I bless whomever mentioned that Doolin has no-ATM's! Thank you much!

Here's the bummer thing: our rental car fell through. (Way too many Euro's required to secure one) so we're going to be limited by what we can see with our own two feet, bus pass, and occasional taxi.

Aside from the cliffs, burren, island, caves and Doonagore castle, anythind else local to Doolin you'd recommend seeing?

How about anything that can be reached on a one-day's bus trip? Limerick is in the works...as is Ennis.

Thanks!

Doolin Wanting to travel to Ireland- need help!
Posted: Wed January 4, 2006 05:25 PM UTC
I'm trying to do some research on travelling to Ireland. I would like to visit Doolin just to go visit the Cliffs of Moher. I would also like to go to Killarney and walk on the beach. Then my last stop would be to go to Dublin. I would like to go on a escorted coach tour. Does anyone recommend a certain company? I'm looking into irelandescorted.com . I will be travelling alone and would feel comfortable taking a tour of this type. Any suggestions will help.

Doolin O'connors and other pubs
Posted: Wed February 25, 2004 11:42 AM UTC
Hi, are O'connors and other pubs still playing music this time of year or is it limited to the toruisty season? We were inspired by the Oconnors travellogue on Kitsynmoxy's page and thought we'd head down for a weekend since we'll be in Galway next month ayway.
Thanks,
Ls

Doolin Doolin Activity Lodge
Posted: Mon March 17, 2003 06:29 PM UTC
Has anybody heard of the Doolin Activity Lodge? Recommendations or information on prices etc. would be most appreciated. We have sent them an e-mail but we expect they either out looking for leprechauns or wetting their shamrocks on St. Patrick's Day..... so while we are waiting we would be grateful for anybody's input! Thanks in advance!

Doolin B&Bs in Doolin
Posted: Sun March 16, 2003 11:21 AM UTC
We'll be in Doolin a couple of days at Easter. Does anybody know of good B&B accomodation that will be open then? Preferably close to a pub so we don't have far to walk after our evening pint!
Thanks, KitsynMoxy
