I am wanting to travel as cheaply as possible from the U.K to Erbil (Hawler) and have no idea about the best way to get there or where is available to stay or how much anything costs! I am new to travelling but have a friend who has returned to Iraq having previously lived in the U.K who I am wishing to visit. Any information , help, or guidance from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to know the various ways of getting to Baghdad/Karbala.
I read from Wikipedia that there are some flights from Dubai/Iran but the flights from these cities seem to be around 1000USD. Is there any other way to get to these cities??

any info on ferry from Bahrain would be appreciated, ie. how long is trip, schedule, any souvenir shopping in port upon arrival since I will not be able to leave the port area without a visa which I can't get from USA

I would like to get one, but the embassy did not pick up
my phone and no infor on their website. I don't know anybody

I am a Romanian women and I plan to go visit my husband who is a soldier in Kirkuk, but I found no way of transportation. Recently i was told that i have to go to Arbil on my companies behalf for a project there which would take around 30-35 days. The way things are presently in Iraq I am scared. I know that Arbil is comparetively safe and is like any other mid-east country.

I would appreciate if any one can please tell me about the safety and security there. Is there anything i should particularly take care off.

Your response will help me a lot. Desperately need feedback.

Hello, has anyone been to Erbil, Kurdistan this year or late last year?
If so I would be most grateful for first hand information on the cost of living, the things that I should take, and the things that I should not do. I will be there for quite a while so any information that you feel may be of use to me would be well received. I've travelled in Lebanon in 2004 and 2005 so am used to the basic customs of the Arab world and speak basic Arabic but have little knowledge of Kurdistan. Thank-you and the best of luck to all.

i need somebody give me one advaice if i can travel free in iraq, i mean if is one little chance to have one visa for this country . I don't know anybody in iraq who can invite me in this country and without one invitasion the embassy will never give me one visa. is nobody who can say to the embassy they will guaranty i will have one place to sleep and some food and i will don't try to kill somebody or other bad things like this. is somewere in iraq one travel agency who can do this?? i am from Romania, i wish to stay just few days in Dahook.

Do you know when it will be safe to go again? I have lots of friends who want to visit but we dont feel safe to go.... :-(

I lived in Baghdad from 2002-2004 and am writing some
short stories about life in pre and post war Iraq. Can anyone in Baghdad tell me the name of the restaurant on Arasat street in Baghdad that had a large pool out front and a big screen to play pop music video clips? So far I have been told it was either Black and White Cafe or Al Mizan (Scales).
