Madeira Island in june. Posted: Mon February 5, 2007 01:16 PM UTC
I'd like to spend there a week. Is it advisable to go therewithout booking a room? Where would you recommend to stay? in Funchal or in Porto Moniz.
Are there some interesting event or festival happening that month?
Thanks a bunch for your replies.

Xmas - Visit 19th-28th Dec - some specific questions Posted: Sun December 17, 2006 01:02 PM UTC
Dear Madeirians,
here are some things I'd like your advice, please:
(1)Over 24th to 26th December it's chrismas. What's the situation with closing shops, restaurants over these days?
(2) Any suggestion for a nice pub, disco, nightclub in Funchal or somewhere else on the island?
(3) Coin laundry or a decent Laundry (how are those called in portuguese) around in Funchal?
(4) Internet Cafes - where to find?
(5) Where is this adress - cannot locate it on my map...:
Residencial Pina
Travessa Do Pina Nº 8
Funchal (Madeira)
A reference place would help!
Thanks so much, looking forward to my trip!
Ralf.

Honeymoon and walking/treking east coast Jan 2007 and clothing Posted: Mon November 6, 2006 03:54 PM UTC
Can anyone say how much rain there will be. Can I expect sun. When it rains is very bad(quantify if possible). What type of clothing to make life comfortable. Light waterproofs trousers and jackets etc.
Can the rain a make days walk not practical etc. The idea is to walk each day to a different hotel and our bags follow etc.
Any information is gratefully received to make the honeymoon a success

Horse Riding on Madeira Posted: Mon July 3, 2006 11:42 AM UTC
Can anyone help? My husband and I are visiting Madeira mid July 2006 and we would like to go horse riding as we prefer to ride rather than walk. Has anyone been trekking and if so how did you find it. Can you recommend a particular stables?
I am an experienced rider but hubby prefers to 'plod gently' so would be great if we could mix the two styles.
Thanks

Walking/Hiking tour companies Posted: Wed April 26, 2006 12:36 PM UTC
Hello, I am arriving Funchal by cruise ship on 5May, 2006. I am looking for a company that specializes in day hikes; pick up and drop off at the pier in Funchal and would have to get me back before the ship sails away at 5p.
I have done a lot of searching online and it appears all organized hiking tours are more than 1 day long. I did see the "on your own" hiking tours on VT; I'm really looking for something a bit more organized with a tour leader.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi VT Forum goers.
I've just booked a weeks break to a mountain retreat at eira do serrado-curral das freiras in early November. I'm assuming it's going to be cool up in the mountains? Can anyone give me an insight into this part of Madeira so I know what to pack?
Many thanks
Stuart.

Strange question??? Posted: Wed May 11, 2005 02:32 PM UTC
Hello VT members,
Maybe it's a very strange question, but it's like this:
Together with Iris (my now nearly 4 years old daughter) we collect pins for on your walking stick. We have been to the island of Madeira when Iris was exactly 1 year young and just a few days ago we noticed that we didn't buy 1 in Madeira.
Does anybody have any idea how to get 2 of these pins? Of course I will pay that someone for the cost to make (buying and sending). I hope you all know what kind of pins I mean, otherwise I would sent you a picture of our walking sticks to get the idea.
Hope to hear form you soon and Iris would like that as well :-)

Hi! Me and my friend would like to visit madeira in December. Would it be too cold then? Is it possible to swim in the ocean? Is there much to see during this period or we`d better postpone the trip till the spring?
