Baku Letter of invitation
Posted: Wed July 22, 2009 10:05 AM UTC
Hello, thanks for the answers to my last question!
I have another question with which some of you might be able to help me again. We are looking into the details on how to get the visa for Azerbaijan, and it appears that we need a letter of invitation. Several agencies provide these letters but the price they ask is absolutely crazy. Would anyone have an idea on how to get a letter of invitation at a reasonable price? Also, do you know if we need two letters or we can have one letter inviting both of us?
Many thanks in advance for your help!!

Hi, We are planning to go to Azerbaidjan and I don't find much information about prices of restaurant and accomodation there. Any chance someone could let me know what is the average price for a hotel (mid range or cheap range), a restaurant (same: mid or cheap range)?
Many thanks in advance for your help!

Baku Baku to Turkmenbashi
Posted: Thu May 8, 2008 05:59 PM UTC
Are there direct flights from Baku, Azerbaijan to Turkmenbashi, Turkmenistan? I'm planning to go to Baku in June and was thinking that it would be great if i could fly direct to Turkmenbashi and back to Baku a couple of days later as my schedule is quite tight. Maybe i can go by ferry but from what I've read, the service seems to be unreliable. Can anyone advise me if direct flights are available?

Baku Hotel and Surrounding Villages
Posted: Tue April 1, 2008 07:55 AM UTC
I saw the hotel tip about "Park Inn Azerbaijan" written by Minai. The weblink doesn't work! Any one has a link to this hotel with some reviews and clear picture.

I also would like to know the surrounding villages, where people still live in a simple life (no much traffic, no much asphalt & buldings, ...) I like those countryside areas. I need a guidance and info for those areas.

Baku other tourists around?
Posted: Tue March 13, 2007 02:33 PM UTC
i've been in baku for a few days and plan to be a here for another 3 or so months working as an intern with a couple of ngo's. i'd be keen to meet up with any other english-speaking tourists in the area to do general touristy things together on weekends and in the evenings. i would be particularly interested in doing some weekend sidetrips to more regional areas of azerbaijan. it's a little intimidating being a tourist by myself, even if i do speak a little turkish, so it could be good to share any difficulties with a few other travelers.

Baku Moving to Baku
Posted: Tue January 23, 2007 03:44 PM UTC
Hi there,
I've accepted a job and am going to be moving to Baku!! As a foreigner, have you any suggestions on what I should or should not bring? Are there any products or toiletries that are not available or very expensive? What about clothing? I think it must get fairly cold. Should I bring my own dvd player or purchase one there? How much do dvds cost? Are both the old manat and the new manat being used as currency? I understand that water delivery is done via 'bladder bags' will they fit onto my current ceramic water dispenser that is suitable for jugs? Any suggestions or information welcome - thanks!!

Baku Tblisi - Tabriz via Azerbaijian
Posted: Mon November 20, 2006 04:57 PM UTC
Hello everyone, me and my mate are looking at doing the trip of a life time in a few years. Going from Helsinki Finland through the Baltic States, Ukraine, ferry to Georgia. We are having problems in the Azerbajiani leg at the moment. We will be on a budget, but we where wondering the quickest route and some good towns to visit in the south of the country. As we find Baku is out of the road and may cost a bit to much for our massive circle route.

Since we are heading south to Tabriz it seems out of the road...we will then be spending a fair bit of time in Iran, going up through the stans, and then up through Russia, back to Helsinki.

To complete the trip of a lifetime (which will have to mean considerable savings)

But any advice on the Azerbajiani leg would be much appreciated.

Thanks from Downunder

greetings,

Have any VTers used the ferry to arrive in Baku from Turkmenbashi? If yes, what were your experiences? How long did you have to wait in Turkmenbashi for a ferry, etc?

(In addition to this post, I've posted a similar query below in the Turkmenbashi forum!)

Thanks!
