Jerusalem Info and assistance for a one day stay in Jerusalem
Posted: Wed May 21, 2008 09:03 AM UTC
I am on a business trip to Israel and I will spend one day in Jerusalem. I will be alone. I need some e-mail addresses for youth hostels/religious hospices for a one night budget accommodation. Is it OK and safe for a woman alone to do sightseeing/shopping/eating out in Jerusalem? Do I need to be accompanied? Any ideas/info for a one day sightseeing in Jerusalem?

Thank you.

Jerusalem District booking a dorm in petra hostel
Posted: Wed May 7, 2008 07:31 PM UTC
the petra hostel doesn't have a way to reserve a dorm bed
on the internet, and i was wondering if i could get one of you
ladies out there to do me a favor so i don't have to call long
distance.

is it possible to call the petra hostel and reserve a women's dorm bed
from saturday august 16, 2008 through friday sept 5th 2008? It would be reserved in the name Patricia Sheneman.

if they want a credit card or something, just let me know, and i'll
just have to call myself. but i'm calling from california, USA and i have
a job with on-call hours and i dn't always can get through.

anyway, if anyone can do me this favor, let me know! I know the petra is a little run down, but i don't care, since i'll be gone every day for the 3 weeks, volunteering to help sift at the temple mount sifting project.

thanks ahead of time.

Jerusalem Arriving 3am 28th Sep for three day visit to Jerusalem need help!
Posted: Thu May 1, 2008 11:35 AM UTC
I arrive from Frankfurt at 03:20am on 28th September and intend to take a sherut to Jerusalem at 7am to start a half day tour after checking into a modest hotel with or without a private bathroom.

I will book full day tour on 29th and depart on 30th September at 16:45hr. Any assistance on how to catch a sherut from airport, and where to book a 2 or 3 star hotel/hostel in Jerusalem so I can direct the sherut to the place, and whether the big holiday time will cause problems during the stay from 28th to 30th september.

Thank you for looking at the questions.

Jerusalem Mt. Zion Hotel opinions
Posted: Sat April 26, 2008 07:19 PM UTC
I'd appreciate up-to-date experiences with Mt. Zion hotel. gilabrand's page is very positive about it, the pictures look great and the location, but some of other sites' ratings are really low due to negatives about service.

Also if you know of another hotel with some charm, location (pref. near Old City), not the highest price (under $400/night), I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

Jerusalem District ultra orthodox shopping malls and supermarkets in jerusalem
Posted: Tue April 22, 2008 04:41 PM UTC
i was wondering could anyone tell me where in jerusalem the shefa shuk supermarket store is in jerusalem or where the ultra orthodox supermarkets are. my reason for asking is when i visit this year i quite fancy doing some shopping there just to see what they are like. if soemone could give directions on how to get their street names bus numbers that go near them that would be brilliant.

also in jerusalem do the ultra orthodox have shopping malls that cater to their needs if so what are these malls called and where are they in jerusalem also what makes them different from the other supermarkets ie what do they sell that others dont

Jerusalem District Avoiding passport stamps to re-enter into Syria
Posted: Sun April 20, 2008 04:11 PM UTC
Hi,

I am an Australian travelling on an Australian passport. I am travelling throughout the Meditterranean and the Middle East. I plan to travel by land, not air. My itinerary is to travel to Jerusalem, via Greece, Turkey, Syria and Jordan, then back again, to Lebanon to catch my plane from Beirut to depart.

I believe that I do not need a visa to enter into Jerusalem. However, will they stamp my passport at the Jordanian/Israeli border? If so, is there an alternative to avoid this? I will not be allowed to re-enter into Syria or enter into Lebanon if my passport has a stamp from entering into Israel.

Many thanks.

Jerusalem Good hotel in/near the Old City in Jerusalem
Posted: Fri March 7, 2008 06:14 PM UTC
I'm sure this has been asked many time before but there is a lot of information and filtering from VT members is very helpful.

Could anyone recommend a good hotel in Jerusalem in or near the Old City?

By good, I mean in a good location for tourist, for 2 people with private bath, plenty of hot water. Nothing fancy. It should be clean and not expensive.

I've been thinking about the Hashimi Hotel. Information about this and other hotels will be greatly appreciated.

I will be in Jerusalem around March 31.

Jerusalem Shoresh tours out of Alexander College
Posted: Sat March 1, 2008 01:55 AM UTC
My wife and I are anticipating a trip to Israel in Jan/Feb 2009. I am protestant clergy, and am looking for some "on-my-own" touring time, as well as some time with an educational-type tour group. One of the tours I'm interested in is Shoresh tours, offered out of Alexander College (connected with Christ Church). Does anyone have any experience with this group or these tours?

Thanks!

Hello,
I am in dire need of help ASAP. I either need a great road map of Jerusalem and the surrounding area, or the knowledge of people of live there.

I need to know how far it is from Yad Vashem from the Old City of Jerusalem. And how far it is from Yad Vashem to the Avshalom Reserve, Latrun and Abu Ghosh.

I need the distance and approximate time it would take to drive there.

Travelling there soon and need to know as soon as possible.

Thank you so much for your help.

Posted: Thu January 24, 2008 09:44 PM UTC
Hi,
My husband and I will be arriving in Israel soon and I was wondering what we might expect weather wise. We plan on being Baptized in the river Jordan. Will we be freezing? Do they have changing places to get out of wet clothes and a way to dry our hair, etc?
Also, my husband wants to take a "day" trip to in to Egypt to see the pyramids. Is there such a thing as that. A DAY TRIP?? We will be staying in Jerusalem.
Our stay will be for just 6 days.
Thanks in advance,

Jerusalem Bet She'an transportation
Posted: Sun January 20, 2008 06:34 PM UTC
We are planning to cross into Israel from Jordan at Bet She'an in early March 2008. Researching the internet indicates that rental cars are not available in Bet She'an, but Egged has busses to Jerusalem We would appreciate any information on:
1. Bus time between Bet She'an and Jerusalem.
2. Whether there is any transportation between Tiberias and Bet She'an as we can return a rental car in Tiberias before we cross back into Jordan.
3. Recommended sites, budget hotels, and restaurants in the Galilee area.
4. Driving time between Mesada and Tiberias.
