Barcelona Train from Barcelona to Normandy Beach, France
Posted: Sat September 12, 2009 10:21 PM UTC
I'm contemplating a cruise out of Barcelona and am wondering how long a train trip from Barcelona to Normandy Beach, France would be? If we extend our trip by a few days I would love for my husband to visit Normandy, since his father fought in WWII there. Thanks!

I'm looking to go to the Barcelona vs Sevilla match at the Camp Nou in January, now i've been once before and got the match tickets from spanishfiestas.com but they have almost doubled their prices. Does anybody know of a reputable site for Barcelona football tickets that aren't greedy. Thanks in advance.

Barcelona Barcelona airport to Barcelona port Moll Adossat (TAXI FOR 5)
Posted: Thu September 10, 2009 10:37 AM UTC
Anyone know of local companies in Spain (Barcelona)that offers pre-book taxis that can take up to 5 people (the large international companies that offer airport transfers were quoting expensive prices).

Can one flag a taxi that is in the form of a people’s carrier in these places?

I called a few taxi companies in Barcelona, they only take 4, which means we will have to take 2 taxis. It’s difficult to communicate what you want, as I don’t speak Spanish.

Barcelona Transport in Barcelona
Posted: Wed September 9, 2009 12:21 AM UTC
I will be disembarking a cruise ship (with husband) early morning and depart from Barcelona airport early evening. Would my best option be walk to Placa de Catalunya, buy a T10, train to Sants and leave suitcases at left luggage there. Back to Placa de Catalunya for some sightseeing then return to Sants for luggage before travelling to airport. 8 journeys in total (for both people) = 1 T10 card - is that correct? I would be grateful if someone could confirm or suggest alternatives.
Thank you

Barcelona Hotel - Omm or Murmuri: Which is a better choice?
Posted: Mon September 7, 2009 03:04 PM UTC
I can get a "privilege" room at the Murmuri or for 20 Euros a night less, a superior double at the Omm. The Omm room is somewhat larger, both have king-size beds. The location seems almost the same, and I think the two hotels are within one block of each other. The online reviews of the Murmuri are a little higher. Which is a better place to stay?

Please respond ASAP, as I have to finalize within a day to confirm the room.

Barcelona Train or aerobus from Barcelona to Holiday Inn Express C/Pallers Barcelona
Posted: Sat September 5, 2009 04:14 PM UTC
I will be arriving at Barcelona airport 19-30 hours on a Sunday evening.I had thought of getting the aerobus from the airport to Plaza Catalunya. Is there a bus which goes from Plaza Catalunya and stops very near the Holiday Inn Express on C/Pallers or would I be getting a taxi from Plaza Catalunya? Or, has anyone else another suggestion for public transport. Also, do the aerobuses run on Sundays as the timetable only gave Monday to Saturday.
Thanks in advance to any repliers.

Barcelona Ground transportation trade offs from air port to central city, then next day to cruise ship
Posted: Thu September 3, 2009 07:05 PM UTC
Need ground transportation recommendations for two, arriving Barcelona air port, with four pieces of heavy luggage, staying at HCC Montblanc Hotel on Via Laientana 61 and departing on cruise ship the following afternoon. Walking is OK if the pavement is smooth enough for luggage wheels, but distance may be up to 3 KM. Considering either taxi or train to near by plaza, but could this open us to local thieves?
Thank you. jsb

Barcelona A few Q's about Hotel, Car Rental and driving to Valencia
Posted: Mon August 31, 2009 03:58 PM UTC
Hello people,

I have some questions in my mind and it would be nice to solve them before landing to Barcelona, 18th of September.

We will be coming to Barcelona on the 18th and will be staying at 3* Hotel Molins De Rei. I googled for the hotel but I'm not sure whether I found the correct one. From its name i get it's located in Molins de Rei district. So, for a 4 days trip, what you say about the location? Is there close metro stations?

Another question is about renting a car. The reason I want to rent a car is because my aunt has a problem with her knees so she cannot walk so long. What is the price for a small car like Clio or Getz etc. per day? Any suggesstions of where to rent is also appreciated!

And last question is about traveling to Valencia. It's around 350km. from Barcelona to Valencia which takes almost 3.5 hours by car. So if we drive early in the morning, we have plenty of time to visit Valencia and turn back to hotel in the midnight. What do you think, worth it?? Or can we get to Valencia by train easy and cheaper? Or do you recommend a better place than Valencia? People are talking about Andorra but I have no idea!!!!

I know it's long post but hope you guys give me some idea before get there... Thanks in advance!

Barcelona does the overnight costa brava train to madrid have private cabins?
Posted: Mon August 31, 2009 02:05 PM UTC
hola!

i'm trying to get a regular train (not AVE) from barcelona to madrid. on the renfe website, the link below shows what came up when i typed my origin and destination. since the only regular train leaves barcelona at 22:00 and arrives in madrid at 07:21 the next day, would anyone know if this train - costa brava - has a sleeper cabin?

http://horarios.renfe.es/hir/index.jsp?page=hjhir130.jsp&O=BARCE&D=MADRI&AF=2009&MF=10&DF=19&SF=1&ID=s

i don't know if the "preferente" class means you'll have your own cabin. if not, how do i find a train with a private cabin for at least two people? it need not even have a full bed, just a private cabin with seats will do.

is this really the only non-AVE train available from barcelona to madrid?

thanks in advance!

Barcelona Yes?

Found this tip on Barcelona, but the poster hasn't signed in to VT since last January, so I am quoting it here in hopes of an answer...

QUUTE:

Favorite Thing: This is one that you'll need to investigate yourself, but I think it would be worth it. At the bottom of La Rambla near Port Vell you see the can't-miss monument to Christopher Columbus. A great photo op, meeting point or place to catch a bus, sure. It's also a nice spot to brush up on your history of how CC supposedly marched through town from the port to deliver his New World findings to the Royal family (or something like that). But apparently there's also an elevator inside the monument that you can take up to the top, so you can see for yourself just where the Hell it is old Chris is pointing anyway. Is that America.....or Africa??

I call it 'little-known' because I never heard of it or saw anyone going inside the monument, nor any line of tourists forming at the base, nothing. I just read about it at a newsstand in a Barcelona guidebook. Maybe everyone knew about it but me.
END QUOTE

So - does anyone know if one can go inside the monument, if there is a lift, if it is worthwhile?

Barcelona Renfe vs. Rail Europe?
Posted: Fri August 28, 2009 04:43 PM UTC
Hi all!

I've read some negative things about Renfe in the past. I don't recall what the complaints were, just that people don't care for the company.

Can anyone tell me if they've used both Renfe and Rail Europe and how would they compare the services. I would rather pay more and take service with a reliable company. Are they both the same service wise?

I appreciate your input.
