Barcelona Barcelona Vacation + Marriage Proposal
Posted: Wed June 25, 2008 09:00 PM UTC
Its nerve racking to pop the question for men. Not for any other reason, when we know its the right decision, but to make sure the moment is perfect and romantic. I know that I won't be asking anyone else to marry me but her. So I have to make sure everything is in order.

I've looked around Barcelona Restaurants to find the perfect location and i think I have. Can you help me, if this is the right place. Its on the mountain near Tibidabo, in the Hotel La Florida. The restaurant is called LA ORANGERIE and apparently has the best views of Barcelona (over looking the city) I spoke with Matthew the Maitre-d and he says that I will get the best table for the evening with the best view. I believe him but I am worried about the traveling from Downtown Barcelona (AC Diplomatic) to the Restaurant. He tells me a cab right would be best, but If I can bring her up there earlier via The Train / Rail Car then that would be amazing. I am not sure how far of a walk we would have to make, especially seeing how we will be dressed to impress. Its our 5 yr anniversary (DID I MENTION IM NERVOUS) haha

please help with any suggestions!!!

Barcelona Help finding accommodation
Posted: Tue June 24, 2008 10:35 AM UTC
Hello

I was wondering if you could help me find accommodation for 64 people on the 4th August. I've tried mailing some hostels, but I have yet to receive a positive answer. I also need to add that I need it to be under 20 euro/person.

Thank you

Barcelona A quick visit to La Sagrada Familia
Posted: Thu June 19, 2008 03:53 AM UTC
I will be arriving Barcelona to board a ship for a cruise. If, and it is a BIG IF, my flight is on time and all goes smoothly, I should have about 3-4 hours
after boarding & before departure to visit Sagrada Familia...can someone suggest the best mode of transportation? Cab, I would imagine. Also, how far
from the port is it? I realize what I want to do may not be feasible...but I'll never know until I try!

I am going on holiday to Salou in September I would like to go to a Barcelona football game could you please tell me roughly how much it cost for a ticket?

some one had told me it cost 70 euro whic seems alot just for a football game.

I did hear a story that all the supporters have life time memberships which paid for the building of the stadium.

Barcelona Staying with a Spanish family in Barcelona
Posted: Mon June 16, 2008 12:47 PM UTC
Hi,

I will be meeting my girlfriend in Barcelona and staying with her at her sister's house for a couple of weeks this summer. Would it be correct to take some sort of gift at the start of our stay? If so, any suggestions of what I could take (husband and wife are in their late thirties, plus 1 young child)?

Barcelona Some Barcelona Questions
Posted: Wed June 11, 2008 07:03 PM UTC
Hi

I intend to visit Barcelona on 23rd June for a week. I have a couple of questions -

1. Is the beach (sea) suitable for swimming, or is it like a polluted city beach?
2. Are there any boat trips you can take from Barcelona?
3. I am travelling on my own, so it would be kinda nice to meet up with a local person (or people) for coffee. Would be great actually to have some company for a few evenings, when you could show me some good pubs/restuarants/clubs to visit!

I am 45 years old and from Ireland. I am young at heart and good company lol. :-)

Barcelona sports bars, Italian and seafood restaurants... and day trips!
Posted: Tue June 10, 2008 12:05 PM UTC
Hi VTers,
I´ve been in Barcelona for a month now and have found some fun places to be around the city, but I´d like to hear the opinions of others.
1. favorite sports bar? Doesn´t matter if it´s Spanish, Irish, Australian...
2. AUTHENTIC Italian restaurant? Why can´t I find many? we are SO CLOSE to Italy!! I´ve seen some advertised but I´d rather hear from people who have experienced quality restaurants.
3. Seafood is expensive, therefore seafood restaurants are expensive. However, I´m sure there are some smaller places that serve quality seafood dishes. Know of any?
4. I´ve gone on day trips to Sitges, Girona, and towns in the Penedes winemaking region. I enjoyed all of them. Where are your favorites?

thank you!

Barcelona catalan or spanish courses???
Posted: Sat June 7, 2008 09:46 PM UTC
hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows of any free courses to learn catalan or spanish. I found a free catalan course but it is booked for the summer.

If you do not know of any free courses, would you be able to recommend something inexpensive? Everything Ive seen has been around 400 euros for about 2 weeks of teaching. I was hoping for something less as I am traveling on a budget but desperately want to learn! Catalan is my first choice because of family, even though Spanish is more universal...

I´ll take either course if there is one available!

Thank you in advance for the information!

Barcelona Greece and Turkey Cruise from Barcelona
Posted: Wed June 4, 2008 03:34 AM UTC
My husband and I are going on a cruise which leaves from Barcelon(that's why I selected the forum for Barcelona!) We would like to find out what are the must see/must do things in Barcelona as we feel we should take the opportunity to spend a day or two in Barcelona before starting the cruise. Our cruise will be stopping at Messini(Sicily), Thessaloniki in Greece, Instanbul in Turkey and Malta. We would rather explore these cities on our own than go with packaged tour which we find can be restricted and again we would like to know how to best use the time we have on shore. I heard it is easy to navigate around these cities?

Barcelona Accommodation for a family of five

G'day team, we are a family of five looking for cheap accommodation (around 70-110 euro) in/near Barcelona. We have a car but don't want to be too far out. I have heard of a great camping site on the ocean with cabins about 20 minutes from Barcelona. Does anyone know about this site or any other apartments. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Barcelona SAFE PLACE FOR STORING VALUABLES
Posted: Fri May 30, 2008 11:37 PM UTC
Advice required. My 20 year old son has just had his valuables stolen in Barcelona for the second time in as many months, incl passport and all other identification. He want's to remain in Barcelona and Spain generally, but needs an answer for how to store safely all remaining valuables incl money, and still maintain access to these. Remembering that he has no current ID, the possibility of opening up an account is out of the question. Are there any kind of safe deposit boxes that can be rented and used without having ID.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
