| Barcelona | Hair Salon in Barcelona Posted: Mon May 12, 2008 12:52 PM UTC
I wanted to get my hair done before i left for europe this friday, then it came to me...why not get it done there? I'm not sure if many people have tried it, but I think it'll make for an interesting experience. FYI i'm a female (most of you probably guessed that since not a lot of guys would admit of thinking about stuff like this) and i don't speak Spanish. Is this do-able? thnks in advance.

| Barcelona | Hotels Posted: Mon May 12, 2008 12:05 AM UTC
Hi,
Can somebody recommend a nicely located hotel in Barcelona. Not too expensive. I am just making my way through Spain but prefer to not stay in a hostel. Will not need my hotel for very much outside of sleeping. Maybe something around the $100 USD range? Thanks for any ideas Jordan |

| Barcelona | Barcelona Bars any suggestions please? Posted: Fri May 9, 2008 09:05 PM UTC
Hi, We're getting married in Barcelona in August and have the reception booked but that finishes at 7pm. We are looking for a bar in the centre of Barcelona, not bothered about which area it's in (as long as it's nice) There will be 60 to 70 people and we just want to carry on the night! Does anyone have any good suggestions please, so I can contact the bar and see if it's possible? Thanks x

| Barcelona | Early Departure Flight - Help! Posted: Thu May 8, 2008 04:17 PM UTC
We have a flight leaving BCN airport at 7:15am. We will be staying in hostels for our trip, but are not sure what to do for accommodations on our last night. If we stay in a hostel that night, will we be able to find transportation to the airport so early in the morning? We will have to be at the airport by 6 am... is the metro running that early? If not, should we just sleep at the airport that night? Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks!

| Barcelona | Night Train Elipsos Barcelona Milan Posted: Tue May 6, 2008 12:29 PM UTC
Hello All!
Its my first time in writting a post so.. here I go! I live in Spain with my man, he is spanish, i´m greek and we have been taking the plane back and forth quite a few times now. Summer is coming and my relationshio with planes are one of passion+hate so this time we are thinking of taking the train since we both like it so much but never had the chance, well at least until Italy. We have checked the night train elipsos from Barcelona to Milan but we are still not sure. Anyone have opinion about this train, have traveled with it, how comfortable is it, if it worth it or anything like that? Thanks in advance! Have a great time in your journeys, virtual or not... :) |

| Barcelona | Typical breakfast! Posted: Mon May 5, 2008 09:41 AM UTC
Hi you all Barca residents and experts!
I've serched the tips and forums, but did not find the exact answer to my question. I have my trip to Barcelona set up for second half of may. First time in town for me. I have an hotel near Plaza Catalunya without breakfast included. Well, not that i do not appreciate the huge buffet breakfasts, but having to pay for that gives you the boost to go out and search for something "normal". I'm italian, so used to Cappuccino + brioche breakfasts, so i'm NOT searching for english breakfast. I would just like to know what is a typical breakfast in Barca and if there is a good bar / pastry shop to recomend near the place where i will stay. Thank you all! Francesco |

| Barcelona | Sant Joan Festival Posted: Sun May 4, 2008 07:05 PM UTC
Hi:
My husband and I will be in Barcelona from June 20 to the 26. I would like to know which are the best places to experience the celebrations for Sant Joan's night. We are intersted in the traditional celebrations. I understand that there are many activities at the beach, but I don't think that's where the locals go. Will the locals give me some tips? |

| Barcelona | what to do in one day Posted: Sun May 4, 2008 04:05 PM UTC
We will be in Barcelona in July but are only going to be there for around 8-9 hours its a Friday I have visited before but it was 16 years ago now when I was a child they where still building the olympic stadium. I was just wondering what people think are not to be missed activities and if its better to walk around the main sites or get the tourist bus. We will have a 7 year old girl with us also (not doing the football stadium) but she loves walking and architecture and stuff like that.
Thanks for your help and advice |

| Barcelona | Safety Posted: Sun May 4, 2008 02:16 AM UTC
We will leave Barcelona by flight leaving at 06:30. So, we plan to take a night bus to the airport departing from Plaza Catalunya (which is within walkable distance from our accomodation). Is it safe to walk to and wait the bus at Plaza Catalunya at about 04:00? Or should we take a taxi for safety reason?

| Barcelona | Barcelona not Spanish but Catalan Posted: Wed April 30, 2008 12:34 PM UTC
Hi everybody!
I´m a studying Business Administration in Barcelona this semester and so far I have really enjoyed my time here. As I´ve began to make friends with other international students(some from Poland, China, France and Mexico), we have all concluded that we have actually had a difficult time understanding the public transportation signs, city flyers, and other turist information because most of it is only writen in Catalan. We find it hard to understand why this information (for example the metro signs) is not translated into other languages or at least have it available to help those persons that don´t spead Catalan and are barely learning Spanish! We wanted to get a group of students to propose this idea to the City Hall of Barcelona, as we think that the city would benefit from this investment. I want to know what your opinion is and what has been your experience with this! |

| Barcelona | Transfer from airport Posted: Wed April 30, 2008 07:04 AM UTC
Hi all,
We are group of 4 will come to Barcelona on 1 Oct. We will fly in via Girona airport. Can you advise the best/ cheapest transfer from this airport to town. We plan to stay at Kabul Hostel. Below is their suggestion. Can someone advise how much we need to spend via this route. Is there any special ticket or pass we should get? "Just catch the Ryan Air bus to Nord station and from there you can catch the metro from the stop Arc de Triomfo. Take the red line to Catalunya and change to the green line and get off in Liceu. Walk down Las Ramblas and turn left into Plaza Real. We are in the corner, next to the restaraunt Alex" |

| Barcelona | La Verneda area - what's your impression? Posted: Tue April 29, 2008 02:48 PM UTC
Hello VTers in Barcelona!
My boyfriend and I are recent college graduates and will be staying in the La Verneda are in Barcelona for a month or so. I was there for a few weeks two summer ago. I know that it is a working-class neighborhood, a few bars and delis nearby, close metro stop, and so on. I'll be there in just a few weeks, but I'm anxious to know what Barcelona natives know of this area. What is there to do at night? Are there good restaurants you like to go to around there? Something you might recommend I go to, or avoid? Thank you! |

| Barcelona | visiting Barcelona in September for the Merce Posted: Tue April 29, 2008 10:42 AM UTC
Although I've searched many (yes many) apartmental rental sites, and provisionally booked one, they are mighty expensive. Have rented many times before, but had a private inexpensive rental contact then. No longer unfortunately. Not too fussy about the area, but would prefer no higher than 2nd floor.
Anyway the point is - does anyone have info/contact/website they have used/know of that's not too expensive? Would appreciate any help. Thanks Oxy |

My wife and I, daughter and a 3 year old granddaughter (3 adults and one child) will be flying into Barcelona mid-May, stay a few days and then move on to Madrid, stay a few days and fly out from Madrid. We have 11 days. This is our first time and would appreciate recommendations on places to stay in Barcelona and Madrid (family apartment if possible)or medium type hotel, local travel/tour packages and mode of transfer Barcelona to Madrid. What would be the cost by bus or train. We are also keen in visiting Cordoba from Madrid. What are the transportation possibilities to do this. Appreciate your help and recommendations. Thank you
