Barcelona Where to stay?
Posted: Fri July 3, 2009 10:48 PM UTC
We are arriving by train, leaving by plane. With that in mind, any suggestions for good places at reasonable price that would be close to must sees?

Barcelona Does anyone know why?
Posted: Thu July 2, 2009 09:04 PM UTC
Does anyone know why, when entering places such as Palau Guell and La Pedrera, you cannot carry a backpack on your back?
The staff there will tell you to hold your bag by hand or leave it in the cloakroom.

Barcelona Nice place to eat
Posted: Wed July 1, 2009 01:37 PM UTC
Hi

I am taking my partner on a surprise visit to Barcelona for his birthday and as an extra surprise we are meeting his sister and his best friend there. I need to arrange for a place to meet his sister and friend. We land at 7pm so will probably be at hotel, check in, shower etc and be ready about 9pm. We (and the friend) are staying at Barcelo Sants which is the hotel built on top of the Central Train Station Sants Estaciķ, his sister is staying at Hostel Campi which I think is near El Triangle and Catalunya Metro station. I need to find a nice meeting place for the extra surprise, preferrably a nice bar with food which is not too expensive and also which is easy for all of us to get to and also easy to get back to the hotel again. As his sister will be going back to Hostel Campi on her own, I think it would be a good idea if it was near the Hostel Campi. I have never been to Barcelona before, so I don't even know where to start!

Any suggestions would be very welcome!!!

Barcelona any tips on booking tours for tarragona and montserrat
Posted: Sat June 27, 2009 02:32 PM UTC
My wife and i are looking forward to trip to Barcelona at the end of August.
We would like to go on tours of Tarragona and Montserrat, but worry about not getting a tour if we booked when we arrive there. Should I be worried?

I was wondering if I do really need to book ahead? On the internet, Viator, appears to be marketed heavily, are there any other alternatives? Viator is the middleman, is there a possibility to enquire with the actual tour agency itself?

thanks in advance.

Barcelona Suggestions for a Budget, 4 Day Multi-City Trip from Barcelona
Posted: Wed June 24, 2009 06:01 AM UTC
Hello,

I would love suggestions for a budget, 4 day multi-city trip from Barcelona (BCN).

* I'm willing to take the train, or fly to save time since I only have 4 days to see parts of Spain, outside of Catalonia.

* I'd be happy if I could manage 2-3 cities within the four days, before returning to Barcelona.

So far I've managed to find tour companies that offer 5+ day trips, but NOT out of Barcelona.

Thanks in advance!

Barcelona Barcelona to Rome
Posted: Tue June 23, 2009 12:07 AM UTC
In April of 2010 we will be taking the Disney cruise ship from Florida to Barcelona, and would like to know the best way to get from Barcelona to Rome. We are considering flying with local airline which won't cost very much per person. There will be five adults and one 5yr old child. Is there anyone who has done this in the past that can give us some travel tips.

Barcelona Traveling Alone - All Tips and Advice Please!!
Posted: Sun June 21, 2009 06:30 PM UTC
Hi, I am a young woman (mid 20's) traveling alone for a few days to Barcelona this week, and just opening the floor to all suggestions for where (and where not) to go, where is safe and where's not, and particularly the best places for meeting English speaking travellers. I am very aware of the problems with pickpocketing and mugging in Barcelona - have been reading a great deal about it on various sites! Where, therefore should I stay away from? How is the ease at getting cabs late at night and how should I go about not getting overcharged? Also would love to hear from anyone who has been in Barcelona for Midsummer's Eve before and has any tips on where is good (and reasonably safe!) to go and what I can expect... Come on guys, gimme what you got! :)

Barcelona La officina de cambio
Posted: Thu June 11, 2009 10:08 PM UTC
Hello, my husband and I are travelling to Barcelona for a convention for a a week in August this year.

I live in South Africa where the rate of exchange for the Euro is almost 12 ZAR (my currency) for 1 EURO. The rate is relatively favourable today and I need to purchase Euros. I have read a post from 2007 advising against travellers cheques as it is difficult and expensive to change them into cash. I have also read numerous posts about the fact that it is not safe to carry much cash (because of pickpockets)and to rather use a credit card. For me, the credit card means that I have no idea what rate I will be charged on the day (it was ZAR 13.7 for 1 EURO in March for example).

After that rather lengthy ramble, my request is:does anyone have updated advice on the availability of offices to change travellers cheques, can it only be done at a bank, is the commission to make the change high, does the suggestion to pay by credit card stand? Any recent information will be most appreciated.

Barcelona Holiday?
Posted: Tue May 26, 2009 02:42 PM UTC
In browsing around I just discovered that the day I arrive in Barcelona - 11/09/2009 - is the National Day of Catalonia.

Is this likely to effect travel or restaurants? I will probably arrive late afternoon, early evening (by train) and want to go first directly to my hotel. Afterward I will want to go out for a walk and to eat something.

Should I expect any problems, like closed venues, reduced public transportation or anything of the sort?

Barcelona Best spot?
Posted: Tue May 26, 2009 02:20 PM UTC
Any suggestion on the best spot to stand (or sit if possible) to view the Magic Fountain of Montjuic in Barcelona?

From this view on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgzGa3EbPW0
it would appear that one doesn't want to be too close to get a good over-all view.

Barcelona Where to rent a bike for the Triathlon?
Posted: Tue May 26, 2009 10:16 AM UTC
My son will visit Barcelona in October to take part in the Triathlon. He doesn't want to bring his own bike. Can anyone recommend a good bicycle shop to rent a racing bike? I found one member tip about Bike Rental Barcelona, but it seems this shop rents mostly folding bikes or mountain bikes.
Does anybody know of another place to rent a bike?

Thank you for any information.
