Has anyone stayed at Hevea hotel? I am seeing mixed reviews on the web. The rates for one week are $500 US or 270 Euro. Are there any other inexpensive places to stay on the French or Dutch side. Thanks.

Has anyone delt with them before? Being Canadian I've never booked through this rental company.

What kinds of things should I be aware of in the way of danger in Belize?
How are the local police? trustworthy or otherwise?
I have had some challenges in Colombia and am looking for any experiences, positive or negative.

What restaurants would you recommend in or near St Francois? How about the rest of both islands (we'll be out and about a good deal I would guess, and are interested in restaurants both in the "fun" category and in the "nice, special" category. For the evening meal, our pattern is to mostly stay close to "home." Carryouts are often a good plan for us, as well.

We'll be staying at this resort 11/26 - 12/3. Has anybody out there stayed there? Can you tell us anything about it? What do they offer as far as amenities and services? What is nearby in terms of food markets for the times we want to just "eat in"? (for that matter, carry-out restauants?)

I notice in my guidebook that there is at least 1 banana plantation on Basse Terre: Goyave (or is it Boyave?). What is the admission charge? Is it they interesting? informative?

I am going to need a hotel in Marigot to stay at before I ferry over to Anguilla. I will also need to stay somewhere on this French/Dutch island one night on my return from Saba before I fly back to the States. has anyone heard of the Royale Louisiana Hotel? I have been to the Caribbean a few times now but never to Guadeloupe, it looks awesome and not so touristy, I would like o travel light and cheap and thought backpacking would be the way to go.

Flying there, ?? any ideas who and where from
accomadations , ie. guest houses villas etc etc
snorkeling , diving where ??
food, cheap or lots of $ ?
dangers like crime etc etc, for a guy travelling alone

best place to stay or visit while i am there
Any work in Guadeloupe if i decided to stay there for a while ??

Were can I find a nice villa outside St Francois.
We have bee renting Villas from http://www.guadeloupe-hebergement.com/autres/eng/coulee.htm
and did not like it at all.
It was very service and to expensive.
Don't do the mistake and use them

Ten years ago my wife and I had the greatest honeymoon we could have imagined on Saint Martin. The hotel was called Golden Tulip Beach Resort, located on the shore near Cul-de-Sac, looking out on Ilet Pinel.

I cannot find any current references to this hotel. (There are some out-dated links on the web that provide no current information.) The Golden Tulip chain of hotels has no information about it. I wonder if the hotel was sold to another company, and what the new name might be. I also wonder if the hotel was damaged beyond repair by a hurricane at some time.

Any help you could provide would be most helpful. Thank-you.

I wish to spend at least 3 weeks in Marigot, Saint Martin starting 8-Jan-2005. I would like a not too expensive studio with kitchenette for 1 person. Beach access is not required but a pool would be nice.

Just got back from playa del carmen and what a wonderful place this is. I must let all know if going check out a little place called Casa De Gopala between 2nd Callie and 10 Avenue. Small and very reasonably priced they also have a dive operation called Yucteck attached. Great people and and very helpful. If you would like any more info contact me.

Now I,m on to next year, Can't get the travel bug out.
Would like to check out Guadelope next year and am starting research early.

I plan to visit Guadeloupe to improve my French, after learning French at a language school in Sainte- Anne, i d´ like to volunteer somwere on the island (rainforest conservation, farmstay ect.) Does anyone know an adress where this is possible?

I' m trying to find some information about Guadeloupe and I hope you have some usefull tips for me.
a) Is mid-February the Carnival season there?How long it lasts?
b) for combining beach and land excursions and also some nighlife including music and drinking what is the best place to set our base? ( in other words can you recomend a place to stay?)
c) do you have any idea about transportation there? (are there some good local transort companies, what about taxis...etc)
