I am sailing on the Maasdam and docking at Guadalupe and would like to know if it would be possible to get to the shrine of our lady of Guadalupe from the dock.
What would be the best method of transportation? Could I get a taxi at the port and how expensive would it be?
Guys! Does anyone if there's any (preferrably inexpensive) way to get to Dominica from Saint Martin/St Maarten? How far are they from each other?
Many thanks!!
i'm planning to go to st. barths for a quick 3 night vacation from nyc and need advice on the cheapest way to ge tthere from st. maarten/martin and a nice hotel close to the beach and activities. thanks so much!
Hi, i just found out i have $400 credit for a flight which i have to board by april 29th. and i don't know where to go! i'm flying out of nyc. so the carribean is a natural option. i am open to other places as well, but primarily my concern is safety. i am a single female travelling on my own for 3 nights. advice on st. martin, st. lucia, st kitts, etc? the last two are quite hefty in terms of travel times however.
Hello one and all.
I'm looking forward to my trip to Guadeloupe in april and I was wondering what I should expect to pay there. What are the prices for example when it comes to taxi, food, rum and been in bars? The usual stuff?
Thanks for any info, as well as any other tips you might have!
I'll be traveling to the french side of St Martin in a couple of weeks. Mostly I'll be laying around on a beach, wandering through shops, but I fully intend to take advantage of all the wonderful restaurants, especially in Grand Case. Can I wear sandals, tanks and shorts to these restaurants, or would I feel more comfortable with a different type of clothing?
Hi, I'm a european student and i want to go to the caribbean this summer!
I've already searched on the net, but i don't find any cheap flights from europe to the caribbean?
If we were to catch a cab from our cruise ship dock in Point A Pitre to Gosier, is it possible to gain access to beaches in the area? Or does one have to be a hotel guest?
I was looking at St. Anne, but Gosier beaches look pretty nice, and right next door!
We'll be docked at Point-A-Pitre on Sat. 12/15 from 8am-5pm.
The beaches in ST. ANNE looked gorgeous. I contacted the ONLY English speaking tour company that I could locate, and he quoted us over $50 US EACH if there were 4 of us.... just for transportation. That seems way out of line.
Here's my scenario (from my original email to the guy):
Hi there, XXXXX-
Thanks so much for replying.
From what I've been able to research, CARAVELLE BEACH looks lovely. I've also seen mention of CANELLA BEACH in Gosier, closer to our port. Where would you suggest, XXXXX?
Here's my scenario....
*Pick us up at our Port around 9 am.
*Stop for us to buy some beer and ice. We'll have a cooler.
*Head to a beach or maybe 2.
*Get us back to port no later than 4 pm.

Can any of you folks suggest a plan for us?
Our idea of heaven is laying on a secluded beach, drinking beer and socializing with "locals". Unfortunately, we speak no French, but I did buy an cute little electronic translator!
I have GOOGLED until I'm blue in the face, and can't find anybody to hire.
We hate "ship organized" excursions.... they're like a cattle-call. We much prefer doing our own thing.
I thank you all in advance for ANY feedback, links or email addys that you can provide.
My husband and I will be arriving in St. Bart's in January aboard the Quest. We are interested in touring the island with a private guide or hiring an English speaking taxi driver to show us the island. Any one know of a tour guide or have info on the cost and availability of taxis? Thanks, Lu
My husband and I will be in Basse-Terre in January aboard the Quest. We are interested in doing a private tour, or hiring an English speaking cab driver to show us the sights. Any one have any ideas to help us do our touring? What is the going rate for cabs and are they easily accessible at the pier? Thanks in advance, Lu

Hi, I am going to St Martin im mid March. Trying to figure out what hotel to stay in. I heard of Grand Casa Hotel, Domaine de Lonvilliers, however, not sure what to go with. I think I would like to stay on a French side. Is it better to pick a boutique hotel or a large hotel like Maho Sonesta beach or the new Wyndham that just opened in January. Also, should we rent a car or can get a scooter. Please recommend nice restaurants for dinner. Is there a point to take a day trip to St Barths. Thanks so much for your help
We're in the midst of booking accomodations on the island but wanted to find out first the most centrally located area to stay. Something close to all the shops, restaurants, and clubs would be great! Is Gustavia the area we should be staying in?
Hey everyone,
I'm off to Guadeloupe this coming September and I need to know what's the best way to go from Gosier to Terre-Basse ? I don't intend to rent a car...so would it be better to go by bus or by taxi ? Any idea about the taxi fare for that distance ? I'll have to be at Terre Basse at 9am...
Also, what is the weather like during that period ?
many thanks
Amina
Considering St. Barth's for honeymoon starting July 2 next year. What do you all think - too risky? Too close to hurrican season? Or do hurricanes start later?
I am planning a trip to Les Abymes in a few weeks and would like to know how would I find a friend of mine who lives there. I just have her name, I do not speak French and have been trying unsuccessfully online to find her. What is the best way to go about this? Can anyone help me????
We are considering St. Martin for our anniversary in January. We are not beachy people, more city people - but we want to have a week of relaxation. We are more interested in food, culture, history, spa treatments and seeing an occasional movie. Would prefer to be able to walk to several restaurants - the room doesn't have to be big, but if it had a balcony or terrace for reading that would be awesome. So, where should we stay? Philipsburg or Marigot? We'd like to stay under $200 per day. We are big Francophiles - especially love to go to Paris - but we would be open to staying on the Dutch side.
Merci,
Mary
I am planning a tropical-style trip in the month of November for myself and my husband. I don't really care where we go, but St. Maarten caught my eye. We have never been anywhere in the Carribean before and I am nervous about the hurricane season and bad weather. Our budget is to keep the flight (from Indiana) and hotel under $2500 total for 7 nights or so, which we have found is possible. Is November a safe month to travel to St. Maarten as far as weather is concerned?? If not, do you have any other suggestions for a destination? Thanks!
