I will be spending 2 weeks this summer with my family in Cabezon de la Sal in Cantabria. We will have our car having traveled to Santurtzi/Bilbao on the P&O ferry from Portsmouth, UK. We would like to visit Bilbao for a day but I do not want to drive (and try to park) in the city of Bilbao.
Can anyone please recommend a place where I can park easily and safely outside of Bilbao and get the metro, train or bus into the centre? Perhaps something like a shopping centre near to metro station or similar? Thanks, John.

We plan our next trip, and are thinking about Bilbao, San Sebastian, Toulouse and Biarritz.

In general we go in vacation in June or September, because we hate the hot weather. However, we do not like to have many rains and too cold.

Is October a good period to visit this zone?

What is the cost and time to take public transportation from San Sebastian to Bilbao airport? Bus, Train, Taxi?

How do I get to Guggenheim from the Bilbao airport, in the cheapest and convenient way? I need to get as close to Guggenheim as possible, so that the walk is not too much - as I will have luggage with me. Also, is it possible to keep the luggage in the cloak room at the museum?

From Guggenheim, is there a direct bus to get to the Terminus bus station?

My son and his friend will be spending 8 days in the Bilbao area starting July 19. They are mainly interested in the skate place in Algorta and the Ocean. I assume it is really hard to find a budget place at a beach area at this time of year, but would appreciate any suggestions. My son's friend speaks Spanish fluently so a place where only Spanish is spoken would not be a problem.

We have looked at info on youth hostels posted in this forum, but cannot quite picture how it would be to get from the youth hostel(s)to the beach.

I'm looking at Alsa website for a bus that leaves Santander Airport for Bilbao sometime after 14:00, and all I see is one bus that departs at 3:30. Does anyone know if there is more than one bus a day for this route and if it is, how do I get to that timetable? Thanks.

I am at last travelling around Spain and i would like some advice about my trip.
More specifically, i will fly to BARCELONA around the middle of June and end up in BILBAO where i will fly back. During a period of 15 days i want to visit also BURGOS and SAN SEBASTIAN and I would like some sugestions about what's the best way and best order to travel from one city to another, how many days to stay in each one and places i shouldnt miss.
If you also have any ideas for cheap accommodation or any other cities i should visit, please dont hesitate to say.

I've been looking at some options for accommodations in San Sebastian and Bilbao and I'm wondering if anyone can recommend one particular area over another, and also under what names are they normally listed.

What would you recommend for someone looking to stay in a busy /but not overwhelming/ place in close proximity to some of the main streets and/or point of interest. Half an hour of walkind would be close enough for me. :)

I am visiting Bilbao in June for a spot of surfing in San Sebastian but would like to stop off at the Guggenheim on my way. I'm arriving at the airport and know that I can take a direct bus to the museum but where can I store my luggage? I will have a surf board (in a bag) with me and a suitcase.
I will then need to get from the museum to the bus station for my bus to San Sebastian.
Any tips as to how I can make this journey run smoothly?

I will be flying from Toronto to Bilbao in a month. The purpose of my trip is to learn Spanish, get to know the people and explore some possibilities for legal stay and employment. So far my on-line search for accommodation and additional information for my stay hasn't been so successful, and I begin to feel a little bit scared. Last year I did fly-and-drive throughout the Costas, but there was so much information in English and the rest was easy.
I would be extremely grateful for your feedback, please share your thoughts, recommendations and maybe some first hand experiences.

I'm arriving in Bilbao in a few weeks for the 'batalla del vino' in haro.

I've managed to uncover via the net that there are regular buses to haro from bilbao, but how far is the bus station from the airport please? and is it easy to get too?

Or even better.. anyone else done this trip and know of an idiots guide to getting from Bilbao airport to haro (and back again a few days later)

Thanks for your replies - one more question. We are traveling from Santiago de Compostela to Bilbao and want to stay overnight somewhere along the way. Which town would be better to explore on a Sunday and stay overnight - Leon or Burgos?

In late September we are arriving at Bilbao from UK on the way to taking our son to his university in perpignan. We plan to spend some time there with him having a look around the area, including northern Spain, before going back to Bilbao. Hello, I am planning a trip to Spain and will be using public transportation to get from city to city. Does anyone know how easy it is to get from Bilbao to Guernica? Would it be feasible to take a bus or train into Guernica for dinner and back to Bilbao that evening? Also, is it worth taking a day trip to San Sebastian? Thanks.

I want to rent a car in Bilbao, Spain, and over a 10 day period drive through southern France, ending up at Nice airport. Are there any companies that can accommodate one-way rentals from one country to another? It seems to be a problem. Or should I go to say Biarritz, and rent a France only trip from there ?
