Cadiz Cheap accommodation advice
Posted: Thu August 3, 2006 06:43 PM UTC
I expect to be in the area of Jerez de la Frontera and El Puerto de Santa Maria in October and was wondering if anyone has any tips about pensions/guesthouses in these cities. Just a place to lay my head and maybe get breakfast; nothing posh.

I've found a few in the 20 euro range (for a single), which strikes me as a super bargain as long as they're reasonably clean and not situated immediately above a noisy disco.

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Cadiz Cruise ship dock to train station
Posted: Mon July 17, 2006 02:22 PM UTC
We will be arriving in Cadiz via a cruise ship and want to go visit Sevilla during the day.

How far is the train station from the Cruise Ship docks - i.e., how long does it take to get there?

Secondly: how reliable are the RENFE trains running between Cadiz and Sevilla (Andalucia express)? We only have 10 hours in port. We can make it to Sevilla and back, but not if the trains don't run regularly or are typically delayed.

Thanks for the help!

Cadiz Bus Stop In Modern Part
Posted: Thu July 6, 2006 08:28 PM UTC
SirRichard in a 2003 Tip stated for Comes Bus
"They have another stop in the modern part, in front of the Central Hospital."
Does this refer to the "HOSPITAL UNIVERSITARIO PUERTA DEL MAR, Avda. Ana de Viya, 21, 11009?
Does the bus still stop here?

Cadiz Wedding Venue
Posted: Wed May 3, 2006 09:27 AM UTC
Does anyone know of any v. cool wedding venues in and around Cadiz, (town as opposed to province), Spain? We had one in mind but it's proving disastrous to arrange it through them. I live in Cadiz so, ditto, if anyone knows of any wedding planners here (!?! long shot as the mothers tend to be the planners) any contacts would be appreciated.

It'll be about 120, most people coming from the UK and is being planned for around the end of Sept - yep, this year....so need to get moving pretty sharpish....

We are looking for a 2-bedroom apartment or villa for 3 people in Costa De La Luz/Cadiz from July 1 to July 11. We want to make trips to Granada, Cordoba and maybe Seville.

How many days should we spend in each city? Is there much to see in and around De La Luz/Cadiz?

Cadiz Carnival in Cadiz
Posted: Fri January 20, 2006 05:17 AM UTC
Going to be in Spain from Feb 24-Mar 3 and want to experience carnival. I have a some questions:

1. Need help with deciding when to go. Some suggest the first weekend, while others suggest going on Feb 28th.
2. I'm staying in Marbella during my stay but am willing to get a room for the night. Do you think this option is worth it? Don't know how far Marbella is from Cadiz so driving might be dangerous or too far????
3. How much time should I allot for carnival? Start in the morning, afternoon or just come in evening?
4. Do I need a costume?
5. Other things I should plan or know in advance??

Thanks for your help!

Cadiz Renting a flat long-term in Cadiz old town
Posted: Thu December 29, 2005 12:52 PM UTC
We have now arrived in Cadiz province and need advice about finding long term accommodation in the old town of Cadiz. Can anyone give advice on finding private rentals ( apart from Cambalache newspaper )? Rental agents seem to need copies of work contracts etc, which we do not have , being self -employed / working ad hoc for various companies in UK and overseas. We are looking for a 2 bedroom apartment with bath and have a budget of around 450 -500 euros per month. Any advice gratefully received!

My partner and I are moving to Cadiz in the next month or two and would welcome advice on the best way to find reasonably priced long term accommodation in the casca antiguo.

Also any advice on TEFL teaching opportunities- I teach all levels up to university pre-masters degrees and am a qualified Cambridge CAE / IELTS examiner and also examine for Trinity College. I have over 11 years experience.

Cadiz Visiting your city
Posted: Wed October 19, 2005 05:02 PM UTC
We, along with a small group of our friends, (2000!) will be arriving in your city, via a transatlantic cruise this spring. Our experience has shown us that we can accomplish twice the adventure of a ship excursion if we just follow the locals’ advice.

1. How far is the cruise ship dock from the center of the city? What forms of transportation are available?

2. Unfortunately our visit is short. What activities would you recommend to acquaint visitors with your city in hopes of possibly returning? Are there any daily local markets? What are some short sightseeing possibilities?

3. We would prefer not to return to the ship for lunch. Any recommendations for lunch with a local flair? Maybe some seafood.

4. And finally we shouldn’t return to the ship empty-handed. What local treasures must one purchase?

Cadiz Marinas in Cadiz

Hi,
I'm planning on flying into Jerez to meet my folks who will be in Cadiz - they're on a boat, and I'm wondering where the best marina for them to meet us in would be, both in terms of how easy to get to from the airport it is, and also what there is to see/do in the area for a long weekend.
Please help!
Thanks :-)

Cadiz Attire and Weather
Posted: Sun January 2, 2005 04:54 PM UTC
Thanks, guys for responding so quickly--I really appreciate your help. I was also wondering what typical attire is like in southern Spain and Cadiz. I've heard it's more formal than in the U.S., but I'm not really sure what all that means. And as I'll be there from Jan. through June, could anyone clue me in a bit as to what the weather is like. Thanks ever so much!
