El Corte Ingles in Cadiz Posted: Tue October 20, 2009 02:16 PM UTC
What is the cheapest and most direct way to get to El Corte Ingles from the Cruise Terminal. Last time we were there we took the tourist bus but it is expensive just to visit one shop.

Christmas in Cadiz Posted: Mon September 28, 2009 03:15 PM UTC
My OH and I are planning to spend two weeks in December touring Andalucia - we've done it before and it was great - and have booked a self-catering apartment in Cadiz over the Christmas period.
Having lived and worked in Spain I know that atmosphere and activity can vary enormously in different parts of the country, ranging from just like a normal Sunday, with lots of stuff open (e.g. La Coruna and Seville), to stone dead (e.g. San Sebastian).
Where do Cadiz and surrounding towns and villages come on the scale? As we are self-catering it's no big deal if restaurants are shut on Christmas Eve and/or Christmas Day, but it would be nice to know in advance so we can plan accordingly.
Advice appreciated.

Im moving to Cadiz in september and I was wondering if they have any R&B/hip-hop/reggae places there because I love dancing!? and does the university have societies (salsa, french, etc,.)? and do they have many sports facilities or group classes? I was hoping to take up salsa or something where I could meet other people :) Im a bit woried that i'll have trouble socializing as my spanish isn't great, but hopefully i'll improve.. are young people open and friendly there?
Id be soooo greatful if someone would help me answer these questions! :D

Carnival in Cadiz-- where to stay? Posted: Thu February 12, 2009 02:28 PM UTC
3 of my friends are I are planning on going to Cadiz next weekend for Carnival and we´re hoping to stay in a hostel or REALLY cheap hotel. What would be a fun area to stay in to be either right it or within walking distance of the festivities and nightlife? If you have any specific hostel/hotel recommendations, I´d greatly appreciate it!!
Thanks so much : )

Cadiz, Spain Posted: Sat January 24, 2009 08:50 AM UTC
We are visiting Cadiz (Andalucia) in May just for the day. We would like to do our own exploring and not go with the tour that the cruise ship is offering. Is it possible? Intereting places to see and do? Can we walk from the port to the city? Do they have a hop on hop off buses available from the port? Thanks.

An unusual question and a more usual one Posted: Fri September 12, 2008 12:42 PM UTC
Hi
First of all, I have lots to visit in spain and only 4 days to do it in. I would like to see Almeria, Nerja (reached through Malaga), Cordoba, Cadiz and Gibraltar. I cannot take five days as much as I would like to, and would hopwe to see all of these. Are there any two that could be done on the same day still seeing the major sights?
Also I am looking for a cake shop that will custom make a cake with my choice of writing on it. Does such a thing exist in one of these locations? You are saving my life if you know of one!

Yoga Retreat for at least 1 week... Posted: Mon June 16, 2008 07:44 PM UTC
Hi there VT
I was in Granada, Seville and Almeria last Autumn teaching English and enjoying the breathtaking beauty of Andalucia. I am wanting to take a weeks holiday and fancy making it worthwhile by going on a Yoga retreat. I am wondering if anyone knows of anything else which is a bit more affordable but is still organised for people looking to get a week's intensive yoga course?
I also love being by the sea and as I currently live in the city, a coastal location would be a bonus..

trip from Cadiz to Morocco Posted: Mon May 12, 2008 03:49 PM UTC
Hi, I am considering to go on 2-3 days trip from Cadiz (or Tarifa) to Morocco (possibly Tanger, or anything else in reachable distance). Can anyone advise me of a travel agency that could arrange such a trip, preferably for reasonable price? Also, what would be nice place to visit in Morocco, that could be included in such 2-3 days trip?

Barbate de la Frontera Posted: Mon April 14, 2008 01:55 AM UTC
Hello all. I've considered staying in Barbate de la Frontera because it seems less commercial than other destinations in the area -- not to mention the beach front lodging options are appealing. I think it'll be a change of pace from the other cities I'll be visiting: Madrid, Sevilla, and Granada. 1. For a quiet, less "touristy" getaway with a slight distance from Cadiz, would you recommend this? 2. Would I need to rent a car to travel to and from Jerez and/or Cadiz? Are there alternative travel options?

Safe inexpensive area in Cadiz Posted: Sun February 17, 2008 05:36 PM UTC
I guess my question would be for Cadiz residents and this might not be the best place, but I would be grateful for any help. I homeschool my children and would really like to spend 6-8 weeks in Cadiz to jump-start our Spanish. I know summer rentals from June costs more than 1000/month, but is there a possibility of finding a 2-bedroom place for around 400 Euros per month if we came within the next month or so? We are not looking to be in the Old City and would probably be happy within 10 minutes walk to the beach. (the only place I know is the area near Hotel Barcello but I don't know what the area is called) What other areas can you suggest that is within a short bus ride to swimming pools or community facilities?
Thanks in advance,Roz

Problem with train schedule (Renfe) Cadiz-Seville. Help please Posted: Thu January 17, 2008 03:34 AM UTC
I realize that this question has been asked before , so please be patient as I ask it again. We are docking in Cadiz at 08h00 on Saturday, April 19, and sailing at 17h00 so that does not leave us much time in port. I have tried to open the train schedule side but, unfortunately, my Spanish is not good enough to allow me to understand and the link in English doesn't work to specify which type of train to choose.
So would someone be kind enough to tell me if it is possible to take a train or a bus to Seville that leaves at 0830 or09h00 and arrives at 16h30 at the latest.
We want to visit the Alcazar in Seville because it is a world heritage sight.
On the other hand, if it will be rush, rush ,rush, would you suggest that we spend some time in Cadiz and visit the Cathedral, perhaps going to Jerez for lunch. If so, which bodega would you choose? Are there any flamenco shows (or simply exhibitions) in the afternoon?
Actually, any and all information and tips would be welcome. We do not wish to take the ship cruise because we are three retired persons who are more interested in history, culture and architecture than in shopping. We like to visit at our own speed with a local guide if at all possible.
We might even be interested in hiring a car and driver who can act as a guide to take us around Cadiz and Jerez.
Hoping that you will help us out. Thank you very much

Cadiz or Sevilla Posted: Sun November 11, 2007 09:50 PM UTC
We are arriving on Dec. 7th on a cruise ship. The cruise line shows the stop as Seville (Cadiz). I cannot get confirmation from them as to which port we stop at.
Is there, in fact, a Port at Seville?
If we dock in Cadiz, we will probably stay there since we are in port from 7AM to 6PM, but with getting off the ship, more likely, about 10AM and needing to be back aboard by 5PM and considering the travel time between cities, it sounds like too much to do.
If we stay in Cadiz we would be interested in visiting Markets and Wineries.
We do welcome any suggestions.
Thanks
