Another question!
What's the easiest way to get to Barcelona from Girona? Our apt is in the Eixample area. I've checked the renfe and the price seems resonable but it wasn't the easiest page to navigate and I don't know what other options I have! Do they have shuttle companies that transfer you from the airport directly to your hotel like in France??
Thanks x

Hello all!
We arrive in Girona with Ryanair midnight so I'll book an airport hotel because we are travelling with a child. my question is:
Will We be able to squeeze a walk along onyar river and jewish quarter in half a day? We need to be in barcelona by 3 in the afternoon.
How far is the old city from the airport? How much does a taxi ride cost?
Thanks!

Can anyone help me with the easiest way to get from Barcelona Airport to the centre of Girona by train please? I believe you have to go to Barcelona Sants station and then change. Do you know what trains we then have to get and how often they run. Thank you for any help you can give us as it all seems a bit confusing. Sue Chesterman

Hi
I'm gonna go Interrailing around Europe in March. I'm planning to go to Girona for a couple of days as my girlfriend and I will go to live there from September and till the end of 2012 as she will be studying there.
Does anyone have a tip for a cheap hostel or something like that in central Girona?
I will only have one full day there at this point, so what are the most important things to do/see?
And.. what would the weather be like in March, temperature wise?
Best regards!
Brian

We have an option to stay in L'Escala, near Girona, for a week. We would like to do day trip to other areas of interest, preferably by publoic transport. Will this be possible, where should we aim for, and are we going to have to settle for a car rental? Our week's accommodation, first week of October, will cost 319 euros. Can that be matched anywhere else more conveniently situated.
I get the impression that L'Escala may be a bit out of the way.
We are not interested in spending days on a beach, bu thopefully will get somewhere quaint with a view?

Hi, Everyone,
My family is considering doing a house swap in Ordis, Spain, which is apparently around Girona. Anyone know anything about it? We can't seem to find anything--not even a picture!
We know it's a very, very small village that just has a bar and a grocery store, but we're curious about the surrounding area. My parents are thinking about doing the swap and using the house as a base to drive around to different nearby villages and towns that may have more to offer.
Can anyone tell me a little about it?
Thanks!

I am planning a two day trip from Barcelona in early April. After a good amount of reading, I've settled on a day in Girona and then a day in Besalu (and surroundings). Here's what I have worked up:
Train to Girona from Barcelona on Sunday morning. Spend the day and night in the city.
Bus to Besalu on Monday morning, checking in to a hotel or other accommodation (at this point I may only be able to drop my bag). In early to mid-afternoon, I could take another bus to Olot and return to Besalu by 7:00pm. Another option is to first take the bus to Castellfollit, visit for an hour and then catch a later bus to Olot, and finally return to Besalu. On Tuesday morning, I would take a bus back to Barcelona. I have reviewed the bus schedules the TEISA website and all this is “possible”. Whether it is practical is another question.
Obviously if I want to visit any of the small villages and towns beyond Girona, a rental car would provide considerable flexibility. After pricing various options online, it actually costs less for a two day rental from Barcelona than a 24 hour rental from Girona. I really do not need a car to get to Girona much less to visit the city. If I want to be sure I do not get stuck paying for a third day, I would have to leave Besalu early on Tuesday morning, allowing for two and half hours to drive back to Barcelona (online maps indicate it is only a 90 minute drive).
The car would cost quite a bit more than the train and bus options, and since I am traveling alone and on a budget, I cannot ignore the additional expense.
Is one day of:
Gironda to Besalu
visit Besalu (morning to early afternoon)
Besalu to Castellfollit
visit Castellfollit (mid afternoon)
Castellfollit to Olot
visit Olot (late afternoon)
Olot to Besalu
dinner in Besalu (early evening)
...too much? Is it possible with a car, but not with fixed bus schedules?
I get the sense from reading travel books and online posts that Besalu and Castellfollit are not packed with a full day of activities. Olot could be a good amount of time if I were to go hiking, but I cannot see how I would have time for that.
Any thoughts on how to make the best use of my time?
Thanks!

Hello,
We plan to spend one full day Girona in late March. Because the center of the city if quite touristy we want to avoid the tourist traps. Would appreciate suggestions for good local eateries/cafes/reasonably priced restaurants for lunch/dinner/snack/tapas. I love good coffee, so any suggestions of where to get a quality cup of cafe con leche or cortado is very much appreciated.

Booked a lst min all inclusive holiday to the costa on an allocation on arrival deal. Just been allocated Platja Park in Platja D'Aro and told transfare is not included in our booking. Looked on resort hoppa site to find that the cheapest reurn for two of us is £120.. Ouch thats more than the flights.
Is there a better, cheaper way for us to get to the hotel? We land on 10/10/2010 at 19:50, and we fly out on the 17/10/2010 at 14:35.
Any help with this would be very very appreciated.

I will be staying at Hotel Carlemany which is supposted to be a 5 minute walk from the train station. I got a flight leaving at 7am. I was thinking of taking the bus leaving at 5am from the train station. My questions are is it safe to walk from the hotel with luggages at around 445 in the morning ? and my second question the bus should arrive at 530am is that enough time to check-in the luggages (that is 1 hour and a half before departure)? or would it be better to take a taxi?
Thanks in advance for help

Hi,
I will be in Barcelona in March-April 2010 for just a few days, and was wondering if it is possible to fit in Figueres (Dali mueseum) and Girona in one day (leaving Barcelona very early in the morning and return at night). Does the transportation work out? Will I need to rent a car to do this?
Thank you for your help!

My family and i are going to Torroella De Montgri (El Delfin Verde) in the next week and due to time, we have not even thought about the transport from Girona Airport until this week. However, contacted the booking agent, who wish ti charge us in excess £300+ for travel which to me is extortionate. Is there public transport available e.g. coach/ train?

I have booked a trip with my sister we have 2 kids. We need to get from the airport in Gerona at around 19.40hrs on friday evening on Jun 12th. Is it easy to get a bus into Estartit from the airport? The charges with the travel company were very expensive but we are a bit concerned that we may have difficulty getting to Estartit.
