| Granada | Advice about Granada Posted: Mon September 10, 2007 04:19 PM UTC
I am going to be traveling to Granada in November foor 1 week and I have a few qestions:
1) I will be there 3 days before my friends. Can anyone suggest a place to visit between there and Madrid that would be worth a day or 2 stop? 2) How do I get from madrid to Granada? 3) Does anyone have suggestions for a hotel in Granada? I'm hoping for something between a hostel and a nice hotel, hopefully in the middle of the city, maybe near a plaza. There will be 4 of us so if it has a commons aread that would be great too. |

| Granada | Staying in Granada Posted: Sat July 21, 2007 07:15 PM UTC
Hello,
My husband and I will be spending 2 nights in Granada in October and I am wondering if anyone has good recommendations on places to stay? I have been in contact with a place called Granada Bed & Breakfast/Homestay, which seems to be a decent B&B - has anyone had any experience there? I'd prefer not to stay in a really impersonal box-hotel, and would be looking for something in the 60-75 euro range, but can be a bit flexible on that. Thanks for your help! |

Hello! I will be studying abroad in Granada starting this fall and I'd like some ideas no what to bring over as gifts from America for my new friends and family (I'm from Northern California) Any suggestions? The only thing I've thought of so far that probably isn't very common in Spain is maple syrup! Ha, lame I know.

| Granada | Pls help with itinerary! Posted: Mon May 7, 2007 08:07 AM UTC
hey there..
I'll be arriving in Granada about 4pm on Sunday, and leaving for Madrid on Tuesday or Wednesday. I intend to do the Alhambra on Tuesday morning until afternoon. During my stay, I want to go to Albaicin, Mirador de San Nicolas, and Sacromonte too. 1. Do I have enough time for all these? 2. If I take a bus from Granada to Madrid, do I have to book in advance and where do I take the bus? 3. Are there any other must-see/must-do in Granada? thanx :) |

| Granada | Camping with kids/ women's camp Posted: Thu April 5, 2007 12:52 PM UTC
I am thinking of taking my children exploring/ camping for a month in the south of Spain, would anyone be able to suggest where to start looking or what to read in order to find out more? The Alpujarras sound appealing. We can live simply but need hot showers and use of a kitchen would be good. Are there rustic hostels or similar type accommdation that's self-catering and not too expensive?
Our experience of camping is limited to one week in an all-women camp in Denmark. It was completely self-run by the participants, established and well-organised. We worked 3-4 hours a day and had the rest of the time to ourselves (except children who were looked after). Where in Spain could I find similar? Thanks in advance for all help or advice. WM x |

| Granada | Has anyone ever booked a tour or a flamenco show through alhambra.org or alhambra.info? Posted: Tue March 27, 2007 11:00 AM UTC
I'd like to book a gypsy flamenco show in Sacromonte through one of these two websites. I've submitted the reservation form on both sites and been informed that to secure my booking I have to send my credit card details including the last 3 digits to them by email or fax. The problem is I don't feel comfortable giving out my credit card details by these methods since I've always been advised not to do so because my details may not be safe.
If anyone has used their services before, please assure me that these are the only ways possible to book a show online and it's not too risky so I can feel a little more comforfable. Thanks in advance. |

| Granada | Semana Santa 2007 Posted: Wed March 21, 2007 05:20 PM UTC
Hi - we shall be in Granada 6-9 April 2007 during Semana Santa. I have a few queries that hopefully someone may be able to answer:
Is there any particular event during Semana Santa that we should try and make sure we see? Where is the best place to see any of the major processions? Will all the bars/restaurants be open as normal in the evenings? Where do all the Granadainos go in the evenings to eat and drink during/after the processions? Does anyone have any tips/recommendations in general as to how to get the most out of our stay during the Semana Santa weekend? I look forward to your replies! Thanks. |

i have been unable to secure tickets online into the Alhambra as they have all been sold out. I am planning to take a day-trip from Seville into Granada, and I won't be able to start queueing up at 6am in the morning to obtain tickets into the Alhambra. Are there any other solutions as to gurantee that my trip to Granada won't be a wasted one, in terms of actually getting to see the Alhambra? Thank you for your help!

| Granada | Granada Questions not found in Granada Guides on VT Posted: Tue February 27, 2007 02:37 PM UTC
What does it cost by taxi from the Granada Airport to the center of the city? around Recorridas I think. What are taxis costing there in general? They were really cheap last time I was there (1987), but I understand things are much more expensive now.
Has anyone been to the Parque de Garcia Lorca? What's it like? How do you get there? This is kind of a dorky question, but I am a romantic at heart - is there any chance of seeing a Tuna (Estudiantina, music group) in Granada early June or are they all traveling/home because the university is out? Best places to go attempting to dance Sevillanas (family friendly)? Thanks if you can answer one or more of these questions. Otherwise I will come back and be sure to add my information to the Granada Guide. Birgit (going in June) |
