Hi. My family and I are staying in Corona Blanca apartments in Playa del Ingles in June. We would really like to travel around the island by local bus, especially between Playa des Ingles and Agaete, and inland to Arucas etc. And trips to the capital by bus. What company routes and prices please? Thanks in advance for your help.

Isla de Gran Canaria Parking on a day visit to Las Palmas
Posted: Sat March 14, 2009 11:33 PM UTC
Can you tell me where is the best place to park for a day's visit to Las Palmas is please? Or maybe it is better to park away from the centre and get a bus in. I am going in August. We went on a tour coach trip round the island last year and stopped on the outskirts of the city in the shopping centre where Carre Foure? is - but l think you can only park for a short time there and we would like to go to the beach and round the 'real centre' of the city.

Isla de Gran Canaria The impossible...a quiet beach in the south?
Posted: Tue February 3, 2009 04:49 PM UTC
Hi,

Does anyone know of a quiet beach in the South West of the island? I really don't want to visit the main resorts and have heard that there are a few quiet beaches that can be found although a bit of a hike may be necessary.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Isla de Gran Canaria Driving in Gran Canaria
Posted: Tue February 3, 2009 10:36 AM UTC
Hi, I am taking my family to Gran Canaria (never been there before) for a week and I am considering renting a car, for 2 reasons, we will be able to drive around and see a bit more of the island, and we will be able to get a child seat for our son. Which I am told is not possible on the busses of the tour operator. I was wondering if anybody who has experience with the traffic on the island could share some of them :)

I am wondering about some of the following things:
- Is there a lot of traffic on Gran Canaria? Or hazardious driving?
- Are the roads well marked? on arrival I will have to make my way from Las Palmas to Arguineguin. Then later we are consideing maybe doing a full circle around the island.
- Are there any special traffic rules, thing that differ from other countries, that I need to be aware of? I have read about the rule about no talking on the cellphone while driving, but that one is starting to become more and more normal in other countries also by now.
- Any other tips is also greatly appreciated :)

Isla de Gran Canaria Christmas
Posted: Fri November 21, 2008 09:48 AM UTC
Similar to a previous posting,my wife and I will be having Christmas in Gran Canaria.

We are staying at Hotel Orquidea in Bahia Feliz
The hotel is providing Half board but I was wondering if there are any restaurants which will provide a nice Christmas dinner, not necessarily an English style place but something which will be a little festive for the one day.
Or am I being dis-courteous and that all of them will provide such fayre?

Hi everyone and many thanks in advance for any any replies, they will be very much appreciated.
We are in Gran Canaria for a weeks holiday staying in the Maspalomas area from the 17th November for a week. On the saturday 22nd we are going to take in the Las Palmas v Tenerife football match, could anyone please tell us what bus number we would need to catch, where from and the time needed to get there in plenty of time. Also will there be a bus for the return journey, given that the game doesn`t kick off until 17:30 and on a Saturday and finishing about 19:15.
Thanks again

Isla de Gran Canaria La Aldea De San Nicolas
Posted: Mon October 13, 2008 08:46 PM UTC
I am travelling to the island in November with my husband. We like the rural landscape rather than beaches. What are the highlights for this kind of trip over four days? We would be looking for locals restaurants and tapas bars rather than tourist ones. Can anyone recommend? We are staying in La Aldea de san Nicolas. We speak quite a lot of Spanish and have lived in Lanzarote for 7 years.

many thanks.

Isla de Gran Canaria H10 Meloneros Palace Hotel.
Posted: Wed March 5, 2008 03:52 PM UTC
Hi we have booked to go to this hotel and from the reviews i have come across on this site & others its looking ok & im happy with the choice, couple questions just in case anyone has been... we are only going for a week, just for pool & chilling, but anywhere we should try & visit & worth hiring a car or going on a rep tour?? (dont like them that much really) I went to gran canaria many years ago & saw the dunes so we will go there one day as think only a short walk or shuttle bus away.

Also, if you have been - any recommendations on which floor to perhaps request? higher one perhaps? thanks a lot. Jane

Isla de Gran Canaria Gourmet (or such) restaurants?
Posted: Wed January 2, 2008 10:37 AM UTC
I intend to go to GC (Maspalamos) at the end of January. Knowing that restaurants varies from bad tourist traps to gourmet restaurants; I would like some assistance. I would enjoy tips of good restaurants, be it gourmet or local cuisine. Not so much the posh stuff, but with chefs that really know how and what to prepare. Thanks in advance!

Isla de Gran Canaria Ferry Choices Xmas time?
Posted: Wed November 28, 2007 02:28 PM UTC
Hi, everyone, I am coming to Las Palmas Dec. 20-25. I wonder if there is frequent boat lines between Las Palmas (or another point in Gran Canaria Island) to, say, S.C. de Tenerife? Are there other boat trip destination that is also worth a day trip? I understand that there are the "Armas" line, the "Transmediteranea", and the "Olsen Fred" company. But when I get one their websites, it seems they are saying no tickets are availalbe?? Also, although people say a trip between Las Palmas and SC de Tenerife taken only 45 minutes, for about 20 euros, on their websites it is said to take 1 or 2 hours, for 40-80 euros!! Why such difference? Is it because of the holiday season? Is it better to book those expensive tickets on line now, because they are hot and may run out, or there are actually plenty so I should buy them when in Las Palmas? Please advice, any information / suggestion appreciated!!

Isla de Gran Canaria New Years eve at Playa de Amadores?
Posted: Tue October 30, 2007 02:50 PM UTC
Hi,

I hope someone can recommend me a restaurant which I can book in advance for New Years Eve? I'm travelling together with my husband and 3 kids (4,7 and 9 years old), so it should preferable be in Playa de Amadores - a place where there is some fun for kids. We would also prefere a restaurant, where they serve canarian food!

Looking forward to your recommendations.

Best Regards Helle
