Sandals Royal Caribbean Posted: Wed October 14, 2009 10:30 PM UTC
I am returning to the Sandals Royal Carib resort in Montego Bay after 6 yrs. The private island used to have a clothing optional beach on it. Is that still the case?

Female Travelling Alone Posted: Thu March 19, 2009 08:00 PM UTC
I have just booked my holiday at the Royal Decameron at Montego Bay for April 17. I am used to travelling alone because I can't sit and wait on people who do not want to invest money in their vacations. Yesterday a friend told me that I will not be in Cuba or Mexico and that I must not leave the resort alone. Afterall, I can't expect anybody to become an overnight friend, this does not usually happen. Is it that dangerous? I am now having second thoughts about why I decided to go to Jamaica. I am not the sit on the beach all week type of person. What are your thoughts about Montego Bay for single women travelling alone?

Need Advice Quickly Posted: Wed March 4, 2009 02:59 AM UTC
I am a 48 yr. old man traveling solo to Montego Bay on March 9,2009. I am staying at a 3 star all inclusive hotel there. Suddenly, I am hearing horror stories about the crime rate and drug culture in the area. I have even been advised not the leave the hotel grounds, especially at nite!!! Now, the herb thing doesn't bother me,but I surely don't want to get mugged (or worse!) Can somebody please give me some survival tips before I go ??????????

Review on Hotel and Transport Posted: Tue October 7, 2008 07:59 AM UTC
Hello from New Zealand we are travelling to Montego Bay in three weeks time arriving in Montego Bay on Thursday 30th October and staying at the Sunset Beach Resort and Spa. I have read a mixture of reviews. Has anyone stayed there? Can anyone give me their opinion.
Also we plan to go to Ricks cafe, and visit Bob Marleys site (Kingston). How do we go about transport? Taxis or Bus?
Your advice and help is appreciated. Regards, Mechelle

help!!!!! Posted: Thu August 7, 2008 09:59 PM UTC
We are planning a trip to Sunset Beach Resort in Montego Bay this August
I have already booked the hotel and I am getting really worried that this place may be a dive. The travel reviews so far have been 50-50- mixed and even though I am not fussy the people I am traveling with can be. I guess what my question is is has anyone out there stayed at this resort and is it an ok place to stay in Montego Bay. Also we wanted to go to Negril for some nightlife at Ricks Cafe. Is it worth the trip and how long is the trip and how would we get there? Also what outside trips or tours are really worth taking? Thanks in advance. I appreciate any help I can get.

Bed Bugs in Montego Bay Posted: Thu April 3, 2008 02:13 PM UTC
We recently returned from the Royal Decameron in Panama, we were there March 17th to the 24th. We encountered bed bugs in our room, one incident only, on March 21st. When I awoke on the 21st, I had one stuck to my torso, with a few bites around the area, obviously he already had breakfast, lunch and was on dinner. I found it on my backside while showering, and if you think the shower water knocks it off, you are wrong. I had to pry it off of me, and after several attempts, it finally let go, and I threw it down the drain.
We went to front desk and had our room fumigated...now we are concerned that we may have brought them home with us in our luggage, after reading other people's posts.
Here's my question - has anyone ever experienced bed bugs on their vacation and NOT brought them home? We have been checking diligently, vacuumed our bedding, put the luggage in the garage, sealed in a bag, and I washed all of our laundry in hot water.
It does not appear that my husband was bitten at all on the trip, just me. And we were never bitten again.
I would like to hear from other people who have had this experience and what happened after they arrived home.
Also, if you did bring them home, how soon after you were home did you notice them?

Jamaica in August? Posted: Fri March 28, 2008 03:33 PM UTC
Hi there
My partner and I are currently planning our honeymoon. We are seriously considering the Sandals Royaly Carribbean resort in Jamaica and would be staying for two weeks at the beginning of August. We love the look of the resort and the country, but have heard that the weather at this time of year is less predictable with rain almost every day. Is this accurate? We so want to go but cant change the dates. Obviously we dont want to go somewhere which is going to be a wash out but jamaica is the one place we both desparately want to visit. Its a tough call...Do we go or not!??
Thanks
Jason

Hello there
I am heading Montego Bay for a wedding at the end of April and would like to do some clothes shopping while I am there. Does anybody have any tips? Where do the locals shop? Are there reasonable prices, or is Montego Bay a big tourist trap?
thanks for the info

Montego Bay or Ocho Rios? Posted: Thu March 13, 2008 02:41 PM UTC
I am planning a trip to Jamaica this summer but can't decide between Ocho Rios or Montego Bay. I am 21 and will be bringing a friend, we want to lay on the beach and do excursions during the day and then go out and have fun at night. I really want an all inclusive trip. Any advice? I am a little worried about Ocho Rios because most of the beaches are nude. But Montego Bay is more expensive. Help!

Transportation Companies Posted: Thu February 28, 2008 07:15 PM UTC
My husband and I will be visiting Jamacia in April 2008, to celebrate our 20th Anniversay. We have traveled before and have always rented a car for a couple of days to get the true experience of locals and the region we are visiting. We will only be in Jamacia for 5 days and I don't want my husband to worry about driving this trip. I want to see Jamaica, Negril, Ochas Rios and spend some time there not the tourist places. I have already contacted Barrett Adventures and Clives Transportation, Clive's has a better price. Does anyone have any other suggestions on private transportation? We are staying at the Holiday Inn Sunspree. Thanks so much!

artist seeks photo ops. as source material for paintings. Posted: Sat January 26, 2008 06:00 AM UTC
I will be nearby Montego Bay (Rose Hall Resort) at the end of February. I would like to know where I can find photo ops. which seem to express the "essence of Jamaica'. Also, do you know of where I can see works of art of local artists, which seem to reflect this essence. As a woman who might have to go on her own, on bus tours, where is it both safe and artistically rewarding to travel to? thanks, Dawn

There does not seem to be direct air service between Montego Bay and Curacao except by going via the USA. Is there any type of direct transportation between these two points, a float plane,or boat? Thanks

Are There Liquor Stores anywhere on the Hip Strip? Posted: Sun December 23, 2007 01:18 AM UTC
This may sound like a strange question but I'm wondering if there are any retail outlets that sell wine in Montego Bay - or more accurately, on the Hip Strip. I'll be staying at the Royal Decameron (anyone know what this hotel is like?) from Dec. 30 to Jan 13th. It is an all inclusive and all alchoholic beverages are included in the package. However, having been to several other all inclusive resorts, the white (or red) wine is usually atrocious. Wine is really the only thing I drink but I'm pretty picky about what type (Pinot Grigio), so I was hoping that there was some type of liquor store where I could buy my wine. Does anyone know where I can buy wine? If not, is there anyway for me to find out? Thanks much!!
