Blue Mountain Bike Tour worth it? Posted: Fri August 21, 2009 03:38 PM UTC
We are going to Sandals Ocho Rios in Sept. We were thinking of doing the Blue Mountain Bike Tour for a day to get away from the beach. Is this worth it - has anyone done this?

Sandles, Ocho Rios Posted: Sat April 25, 2009 12:59 AM UTC
Hi, Going in 7-09 and very confused over the locations of all the rooms. Don't want one with a private pool but the more reasonable are Rivera and Great House. Has anyone stayed at one of these. What location is better. Is it worth the extra $500 to get a different room. The place is so big I have no idea if front by lobby , ocean or middle where the Great house is? Is it walking distance if yu take shuttle to the river resort and then go to the Dan Rivers from there? How is the food . Any informaton would be helpful.

Safety and traveling Ocho Rios by moped/ scooter/ motorcycle. Posted: Mon February 9, 2009 06:42 PM UTC
I am going to Sandals in Ocho rios in april.
I want to see it all.
I am going to rent a motorcycle or double seater scooter in Rios(for my girl and I).
My buddy was in Montego bay in like 2004 ...he said crime was high...guys were walking around w/ guns..no cops..most roads are unpaved, etc.
I researched ...I saw nothing about high violent crime.
I told him I wanted to rent a Scooter and go see dunn's falls ourselves and Bob Marleys grave, and the mountains and downhill trails and ocean roads.
He told me not too...too dangerous>
What should I beleve. I will take some guided tours...but want to see it all by motor bike. I am a great rider.
Thank you.

SCUBA at Breezes Runaway Bay Posted: Tue February 3, 2009 05:58 PM UTC
My boyfriend and I will be staying at Breezes Runaway Bay from Feb. 12 - 16 and really want to go SCUBA diving. We are not certified, but heard you could take a course that will enable you to go diving during your stay. I was wondering what the course/diving trip entailed, how far in advance can/should you book it and if you need to bring anything with you from back home (note from a physician, etc.).

What's in Runaway Bay Posted: Tue February 3, 2009 03:31 AM UTC
Going to Club Ambiance in Runaway Bay next week. Our first time in an 'all inclusive'. It is a small resort. Everytime I mention Jamaica I'm told it is not safe to leave the resort. I'm afraid I will get stir crazy after a day or two trapped in the resort. Is there any sort of a village or town in Runaway Bay? Is the village safe? I have an idea of what to expect in Ochos Rios but I would expect Runaway Bay to be a little easier to handle. I just want to be able to walk half a mile down the street to the public beach or go to a local store without getting mugged or being hastled to buy illegal substances. We have travelled all over Europe on our own and had no problems in Puerto Rico but I'm starting to get nervous about Jamaica. Looking for some reassurance.

Accomadation, eating costs Posted: Sat October 18, 2008 01:29 PM UTC
Hi
I am planning to spends a few days in Ocho Rios and I am am on a budget. I am looking to stay at Sandcastles as it seems reasonable priced, The Grand which is all inclusive is about £50 more. Is there enough locations to find places to eat and what sort of prices are they?
I am not a heavy drinker and except the added luxury wondering if the extra £50 would be worth it for me.
Thanks

I need resort advice! engagement w/ girl! help Posted: Mon February 25, 2008 05:07 PM UTC
Hello friends
First time poster.
I have been doing lots of research in Ocho Rios and the surrounding areas. I narrowed it down to the sunset grande but after reading reviews, am slightly resistant.
I plan to travel there dec 29-jan 2 and want to ask my girl to marry me.
Is this a good place to do so? Can they give me a private dinner on the beach or some other special accomodation?
Also applevacations looks to be the best booking site, any advice on this/
thank you in advance

Transfer from Montego Bay to Ocho Rios Posted: Wed June 13, 2007 01:06 AM UTC
What's the best way to book ground transfer from the Montego Bay airport to Ocho Rios? How much does it usually cost?
My hotel offers transportation for $25 US per person one way ($50 US/ person round trip).
Should I take the hotel offer or just wait and get transportation once I get to the airport?
Thanks!

Ease of scheduling activities Posted: Mon March 19, 2007 03:45 AM UTC
I will be going to Breezes Runaway Bay in August and am wondering how easy it is to book the activities that are included. We are certified divers as well as enjoy water skiing. I have heard from others that they promote the ultra inclusive; but when you get there you are unable to participate in most activities because they are booked. Do you have any input or suggestions?
Thanks,
Kristy

Best time for SOGR honeymoon? Posted: Thu January 4, 2007 10:15 PM UTC
My in-laws have chosen to send me and my fiance (we are both 26) to SGOR for our honeymoon this summer. We have conisdered late May or June. When would a good time be to go? We have also been considering turning this trip into a destination wedding as our guest list seems to be growing longer by the day. =) So we have been researching all that would be needed to just have a small wedding there.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks. We have never been to Jamaica, so been reading alot of forums. Have been reading tons of reviews but they are conflicting- so would appreciate info from those that have been there =) Thanks...
