Isla de Lanzarote Puerto Del Carmen: Lively?
Posted: Sat November 7, 2009 03:21 PM UTC
I'm thinking of staying in Puerto del Carmen over the Christmas period, but a friend has heard that the town is not what is was a few years ago and thinks it will be very quiet at night, with not many people out and a lot of places closed. We are 4 middle aged guys who aren't clubbers but like to travel between good and busy pubs and bars.
I visited there 13 years ago in 96 and quite liked it then, so can anyone tell me if it has changed a lot.

Isla de Lanzarote Where can we eat???
Posted: Fri November 6, 2009 07:00 PM UTC
Coming to costa Teguise in Jan. My partner cannot eat lactose (milk products) or gluten, but would be happy with seafood, or a decent steak and chips - though would really prefer to try local food if not cooked with butter/milk/wheat ...and to complicate things further i am vegetarian!
We're staying self catering, but would like to have a few meals out.. any recomendations greatefully received!!
cheers

Isla de Lanzarote Costa Teguise. What is situation with parkings?
Posted: Fri September 18, 2009 08:10 PM UTC
As vacation comes closer, more questions arose. We are renting car for the vacation. Will stay in aparts close to Playa Bastian (and to aparts with same name). The hotel definitively has no own parking so we will have to find a place for our car somewhere. What is situation with finding parking space there? Google earth shows one parking close to the beach (suspiciously empty) and no parkings along roads!

Here will be our location (on Calle de la Rosa): http://maps.google.de/?ie=UTF8&ll=28.995182,-13.495052&spn=0.006569,0.009677&t=h&z=17

Please, please tell me that I will not need to circle for an hour every day looking for a parking lot!!! I am even ready to rent parking space if it would make my life easier...

Isla de Lanzarote Costa Teguise: supermarkets, apts
Posted: Tue August 4, 2009 10:16 PM UTC
I am planning my trip to Lanzarote in October. Have read almost everything on VT already and cant wait. Still have a few questions.

1. I have booked a studio in Molino de Guatiza Aparthotel because of very good price and location. Reviews in web are very limited and very old. Would be happy if anyone would tell me at least something about them, good or bad. The apartments are located very close to Playa Bastian Apts which have a lot of good reviews here, but they are not available for booking any more. If Molino de Guatiza is very bad, it is still not late to re-book for anything else.

2. I love fish and shrimps. On Tenerife and Gran Canaria we were living in apartments with kitchen and buying seefood in Mercadona. Is there any supermarket in Costa Tequise with good seafood choice? If not, where is the closest? Where to buy fresh fish?

3. A few years ago I have read that Costa Teguise is quite place with good atmosphere and had an impression that it has a soul and not pure touristic (something like Los Gigantes or Puerto Cruz on Tenerife). Now it sounds like a big tourist resort. Was I wrong and it is pure touristic?

Isla de Lanzarote Day trip
Posted: Mon January 19, 2009 09:32 PM UTC
Our cruise boat gets to Lanzarote and we have a day to explore...following the forum and it sounds like the best idea is to rent my own car and get around...

1) Definitely plan to do the Timanfaya National Park the first thing in the morning? Any suggestions on how to do the camel ride? Is it an option between the bus tour or the camel ride?

2) Sounds like there is a lot more to do and I am a little confused as to how much I can accomplish in one day...It would be helpful if someone can suggest an itinerary that they think is manageable and covers most of the important sites...

3) Should I book a rental car ahead of time or are they easily available from the port?

thanks,
neelv

I will be arriving in Lanzarote by cruise ship on 6 Dec 08 and would like to know where the most convenient location would be to rent a car from. Do any car rental companies have availability for pick up by van where the cruise ships dock?

Isla de Lanzarote Arreceffi
Posted: Thu October 16, 2008 10:43 PM UTC
Hi
I am going to lanzarote in a weeks time for the 4th time. We have done most of the island except for Arreceffi.
We will be staying in a villa near Playa Blanca as we like the peace and quiet coupled with a private pool.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend anywhere in Arreceffi that may be worth visiting or anywhere else on the island that is off the beaten track.
Thanks

Isla de Lanzarote Taxi fares- please help!
Posted: Sun August 3, 2008 09:04 PM UTC
Hello

I was wondering if anyone can help me. My boyfiend and i have booked costa teguise in october we are both 21 and enjoy both a relaxing holiday through the day but something a little more lively on a night.

Last year we went to puerto del carmen, this was good and good nightlife but we fancied a change this year.

We have friends going to puerto del carmen at the same time and wondered how much it is in a taxi from teguise to carmen and how long it takes? Is it cheaper to get the bus and make a day of it?

Also is there any good trips out...zoo's, boat trips etc?

Any help would be much appreciated.

me and my husband are looking for some winter sunshine and thought of Lanzarote.
we have never been to Canary Islands before, could somebody please let me know what is it like?
what is the weather like at the beginning of February? we are looking for somewhere we can swim and get some tan.
also we dont like places which are really touristy, is there anywhere to stay without being surrounded by loads of english families with kids or wild party -goers?
thank you so much for all your advice!

Hello,
I'm going to spend a few days at Lanzarote in December.
I read, that at Fuerteventura is windy weather (it was the reason, that I resigned this destination) and I wonder wheter at Lanzarote is the same.
Have you any experiences about it?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

Isla de Lanzarote One Day on Lanzarote
Posted: Mon October 1, 2007 12:43 PM UTC
We're planning to head over to Lanzarote for a day, and I'm trying to figure out realistically what I can fit in a day (and what's really worth seeing). Is this a reasonable itinerary? Is there something we should add or omit?

Rent a car in the morning, and drive from Arrecife over through the vineyards at La Gerķa (perhaps sample the wine?) then up to Timanfaya. See the volcanic demonstrations, follow the Ruta de los Volcanes, and possibly do the camel ride. Have lunch at El Diabolo with the volcanic grill (this sounds cool - is it?).

In the afternoon, drive over to Teguise and take the scenic road up to Harķa. From there, head over to Jameos del Agua.

So, is that crazy? Any idea how long each section would take?
