Has anyone stayed at the Bath Hilton and could offer an assessment? I'm considering booking their for a night in July, and I wanted to make sure it was comfortable and in a good location. Thanks for any help.

My fiance and I are going to visit Bath when we visit London this summer. It'll be only 2 days. As it's such a short time, I tried to fit as much places and activities as possible, but hopefully it'll still not been too tight. Please look over and give me your expert opinions! Thanks!

DAY 1:
We ride the National Coach Bus to Bath, which will arrive at 12:50pm
Go to hotel
Royal Crescent
Royal Crescent Museum
Victoria Park
Day 2:
Pulteney Bridge, Pulteney Weir and Pulteney Street
Roman Baths
Bath Abbey
Parade Gardens

Day 3:
Our coach bus doesn't leave till 3:25pm, so we were thinking we'd go somewhere? But with our luggages with us, it might not be a good idea. Any ideas of how to spend the day after checking out from the hotel till 3 in the afternoon?

I'm planning to travel from London to Bath late this month.

Could someone please recommend:

1) Which train or bus is best to take, and what is the cost? I assume the earlier I leave the better so I can spend the whole day there.
2) Any nice quaint village nearby I can spend the night, and get the feel of a typical English countryside village ? or I can find this in Stratford-uopn-Avon ?
3) transport from Bath to Stratford-upon-Avon and from thereon to either Gatwick or Stansted. Also is Startford-upon-Avon doable in about 1/2 day ? I'm planning a late afternoon flight to Amsterdam.

Am planning to visit Bath in mid April. Would like to book a serviced apartment, but they seems to work out to £100+ per night. Are there any similar alternatives a short drive away from the city?
Have google'd around but not really found much. I was thinking of booking some apartments in Bristol which seem to be a lot cheaper, is this a good option?

Can anyone recommend any apartments (not interested in B&B's), looking to spend £60 to £80 max.

Any help would be appreciated.

We are travelling from pembroke to cornwall and staying over night in Bath - maybe the Travel Lodge - any info on this hotel welcome, also a good place to eat between pembroke and bath for Family?

I am planning to visit Bath when I visit London this year, and I am thinking of saving a bit by using the National Express instead of trains.

I want to book the Funfair ticket, but as of today when I checked their website, they don't have that ticket choice. So, for the Funfair tickets, are they only available a certain time before a date? (ie, maybe 2 months before the travel date?) I am thinking about traveling around the last week of May, so will they become available as that date approaches?

Secondly, do I have to book in advance, or will I be fine just showing up at the station and buying the ticket?

And lastly, I have read on several forums that some train and coach companies do not allow oversea customers from purchasing because they don't have a UK address. Is National Express one of them?

Can anyone suggest cheaper parking in Bath. We are staying at the Hilton in Walcot street and understand that guests usually park in the podium car park which is 19 pounds a night.

Are their cheaper car parks which are within 10 to 15 mins walking?

Hi hope someone can help. We are booked for 5 nights in London and were planning a day trip by train to Bath. However now that we`ve begun working out our itinery
I`m wondering if it`s going to be better to hire a car and spend a night.
This way we can incorporate Windsor Castle( another train trip) and perhaps detour to Stratford Upon Avon in our two 2 trek. Is the train as expensive as we think? The `walkup` fare is so much cheaper but will we be able to get on? Also is one day enough in Bath including 3 hour roundtrip train travel? Thanks in advance.

Hi, Could anyone recommend somewhere to horse ride/trek near Butlins in Minehead for my family?

I'm going to Glastonbury in a few months and I don't want to get my hopes up about sitting in the abbey ruins, so...

How close can you get to the actual abbey ruins? Is it like Stonehenge, with a roped fence around it so no one can get up close?

We plan a one or two night trip to Bath, and will come off the Eurostar from Paris on Sunday afternoon. I believe it will then be arriving at St Pancras station.

Is it possible to catch a train direct from St Pancras to Bath? And what would the cost of that be for two adults, compared to hiring a car?

How long would the train trip take?
Or how long would it take to drive there?

my wife and stayed recently in the inviting Francis Hotel and saw in the lounge a beautiful painting of a woman in 18th or early 19th century dress. enquiries with the Hotel only revealed from the archive the artists name T H Rolande, but not the identity of the woman concerned. Has anybody seen this painting and has any idea of the identity ? I have a photo of this which I can email to interested travellers if they can send me their contact via VT email, as it would be really interesting to know who this mystery woman is?

I will be in Bath for 4 days in September and seek help in planning day trips from the city:

1. Day 1 - sightseeing in Bath itself

2. Stonehenge, Salisbusy and Windsor - does anyone know of a travel agency that does this tour from Bath?

3. Oxford, Stanford-upon-avon and cotswold tour - again does anyone know of a travel agency that does this tour from Bath?

4. One option is to visit Bristol that's if the Oxford-Cotswold tour takes in the experience of the area (do they give you enough time in Cotswold for lunch or something). I would really like to spend more time in Coldswold - are there any nearby town/villages that I can take a bus to, where one could do short walks, visit a country pub or catch afternoon tea - typical British experience and be back in Bath by the evening.

Hi everyone,We will be leaving London with a hire car and will have 2 days/2 nights to get to the ferry port in Fishguard. We have booked a nights accomodation in Lacock Village and will 'play it by ear' for the second night - probably end up somewhere not too far away from Fishguard. My problem is I have researched the area a bit and have come up with a few places I would like to visit but am unsure what order to do them in, and whether we'll even be able to fit everywhere in in just 2 days. Could anyone give me any idea what sort of order we should try to do them in? bearing in mind that we do not necessarily need to spend long periods of time in any one spot.
The places I like the look of are: Stonehenge, Bath, Lacock Village (don't need to be here until late in the afternoon on the first day) Bradford on Avon, Avebury, Castle Combe, & Upper/Lower Slaughter. We don't want to go on tours or look through castles or anything just basically drive through with maybe a stop for a little walk around and a drink. Greetings! It's possible that my husband and I may have to fly into Gatwick Airport rather than Heathrow. Is there an easy way to get to Bath from Gatwick? Prefer bus to the train due to cost. Thanks for the help.

From Bristol International ==> express link to Bristol Temple Meads Rail station ==>????
Is Bath Spa Railway Station nearer to the University than Temple Meads?
How much all of that would cost me from airport to University campus?

my husband and i will be in london this august. we want to visit both bath and stonhenge on our own - not interested in being carted about with dozens of other folks, hurried from one site to another with a white-gloved individual shouting "we're walking, we're walking"... =)

can anyone advise how we can travel from london to bath to stonehenge back to london using public transportation in one day? (reverse order is fine too)

i have studied a few rail sites and see that we can take a train from london to bath and/or a train from london to salisbury, but i haven't seen any instructions for combining the two locations into one trip - except for a guided bus tour. i understand that a bus ride from salisbury to stonehenge will be in order.

I'm trying to decide on a special B&B in Bath for my September stay. I have it narrowed down to three places: Villa Magdala adjoining Henrietta Park, Ayrlington House on Pulteney Road, and Tolley Cottage along the Kennet and Avon Canal. I've found plenty of reviews on tripadvisor.com of the first two places (good and lukewarm), but I can't find anybody who's stayed at Tolley Cottage (http://tolleycottage.co.uk). It looks adorable, but I don't know whether staying in a B&B overlooking the canal is desirable compared to the other options. Is the canal at all neglected/dirty? Its location from the center of town isn't far, but I wish I had a review or two of the cottage and/or that area of town. I can't find another inn that is in that same area along the canal.

Any suggestions or advice? Thanks!

Hello, I need to get from Bath to Heathrow by 1:00 PM on a Wednesday in September. I checked the Brit Rail site, and it says I can take a train leaving Bath around 11 AM, and can arrive at Heathrow by about 1 PM. However, the details state that the first part of the journey is by rail, but then we must take a bus from Reading to Heathrow.

Has anybody here ever done this? If so, is the transfer from train to bus fairly straightforward in Reading, and is the bus known to usually run on schedule? Otherwise, does anyone know of an easier way to get to Heathrow from central Bath (for four adults)?

any tips or advice about spending christmas week in glastonbury?

My daughter and I will be traveling to London the end of this week. We are considering taking a day trip to Bath while we are in London. We were planning on taking the day trip on a Monday. I know January is way off the tourist season the UK so I was wondering if most of the musuems and sites in Bath are open in January. I have been looking in Google but can not find out a lot about winter months.

Has anyone got any ideas for new years eve in Bath. I live in Wells but was planning on heading to Bath for the night at looking for something to do and somewhere to stay. I'm 22 so not looking for something overly expensive but ant a nice place to eat with my girlfriend and then somewhere to watch the new year in.
