Honduras Honduras Travel Questions..Please help!
Posted: Sun May 11, 2008 08:00 AM UTC
Hi! I just bought tix for my Honduras trip..and am leaving in 2 weeks! I need much advice...I am flying into San Pedro Sula...and will be there for 1 week. What are some of the best places in the vicinity (can be a few hours away)...in regards to nature/outdoors/hiking? I would love to do some hiking in some great beauty..where I might even see some wildlife. In one of my guides, I see several National Parks, etc. mentioned..but it is hard to narrow down..any suggestions of where to go? I am also thinking of spending a day at the Copans ruins..is this a must-see? My last visit to Honduras, I spent a week in La Ceiba and Roatan, so this time I want to see other places, my flight is into San Pedro Sula...looking forward to hearing your suggestions!
THANKS!!

Honduras Suggestions for 4 days in Honduras
Posted: Thu May 1, 2008 08:32 PM UTC
I will be in Honduras for about 12 days in January. I will be stationed in Monte Verde for 1 week with a group, and then would like to spend a few days on my own in another part of the country. I'd like to go snorkelling, lie on a beach, possibly go rafting, and visit the rainforest. Should I be heading to Roatan or can someone suggest a better suited place? Also, how weary should I be as a young white woman travelling on her own? I'm not a naive traveller, but I haven't been to Central America before.

Thanks,
Trudy

Copán Crossing into El Salvador
Posted: Mon April 7, 2008 07:11 PM UTC
Is it difficult to hire a driver to take to me to the El Salvador border? Also, is there anything to see near the border in El Salvador? I know this sounds like a strange question but I'm trying to get to every country I can.

Honduras Vacation Aug 3- 14
Posted: Thu April 3, 2008 03:30 PM UTC
My 12 year old daughter and I would like to visit San Pedro Sula and Copan, But I would rather travel with a family or meet a friend to accompany us. We have stayed in hostels and such in Tikal and San Salvador, so we are familiar with customs of dress in small settings. This may sound weird. But I would like for us to see the ruins and city safely. There is a lot of beauty in Central America. and meeting a new family and friends make the trip so much better. I would not expect to freeload by any means.

Isla de Roatán Dinghys and non-traditional dive sites
Posted: Wed April 2, 2008 06:58 PM UTC
Hi! Two quick questions. Your ideas and recommendations greatly appreciated.

1. Does anyone know where on Roatan we might rent a Hobie Cat or Laser (small personal sailboat) for an hour or two? We're not staying at a resort. And we have transportation to get us to wherever we need to go on the island.

2. Which dive shop offers not-the-usual-tourist dive sites? My partner is very advanced and he's looking for something different.

Thanks for your two bits! Have a great day.

Did you use your kitchen at Mayan Princess? Was it easy to go grocery shopping? Would you prefer Mayan Princess & cooking versus All-Inclusive.

Honduras REWARD MONEY, La Ceiba. missing journal.
Posted: Tue March 11, 2008 05:18 PM UTC
If anyone is in La Ceiba or going there and would like to make some easy travel money I would love it if you could help me. I left my journal In Hotel San Carlos, La Ceiba and I would love to get it back. I stayed there on March 7th under the name Joe BOO. I was in room 19. Hotel San CArlos is two or three blocks north of the square, San Isidro I believe is the name of the street. The lobby of the hotel is also a bakery. I'd say it would be worth 40 bucks or so.

Honduras Looking for a lil bit of advice about traveling in Honduras
Posted: Sat March 1, 2008 04:20 AM UTC
Hey, I'm heading out to Honduras this summer. Most of the time I will be on an "expedition" with operation wallecea but for two weeks at the end of my trip I'm going to do a bit of traveling, possibly on my own.

So basically I was wondering if there are any scams I should look out for and if its safe for a girl to travel on her own. Any advice would be great, thanks!

Isla de Roatán food and water safety
Posted: Mon February 25, 2008 01:48 PM UTC
Hi!

Will be traveling to Roatan for the Easter weekend and staying for 7 days.

There will be 2 young children and an elderly female with the group, my question is... how is the food and water safety on the island? If we can only drink bottled water, how can we be sure the food is safe? Hate the way the question sounds, but have to make sure the kids and grandma are safe from any possible stomach bacteria.

thank you so much for any help or advise

Will be travelling to Tela and El Progreso. How prevalent are ATMs in these two cities? I assume they give out lempiras. Is it easy to change lempiras back into $US at the airport when we leave?

Honduras Great air fares on TACA
Posted: Mon October 1, 2007 11:34 AM UTC
If you are anticipating a trip to Honduras in the near future do some comparison shopping on TACA.com

While significantly higher than Spirit on the trip to San Pedro Sula (out of Ft. Lauderdale/Miami) if you fly round-trip via TACA to La Ceiba (LCE) the price comes down dramatically and the arrival-depature times are much better.

Honduras Plane and Boat schedules
Posted: Wed September 26, 2007 09:10 PM UTC
I think that I will get to spend three days to relax on Roatan after I finish a project that I have in LaCeiba. I hate to ask a schedule question but there are about 25 websites on my Honduras favorites and very few of them ever state the date of their site. Could someone give me the current sites that will give me an accurate schedule of the fast ferry from LaCeiba to Roatan and then a site for accurate air travel schedule. I think that I will want to fly from Roatan back to San Pedro to get a morning flight out. The dates of my travel will be about 13-16 October of this year.
