One week in Marbella. What to do? Posted: Mon August 17, 2009 10:06 PM UTC
Hello,
I will be traveling to Marbella at the end of August. This is our first time going there and we’ll be getting a rental car to visit the surroundings. Could you please give me some ideas of what to do/visit in a week? I was thinking doing a day trip to Seville and the Rock of Gibraltar. What else can we do? Is doing a one day excursion to Africa a must do? I watched it on a TV program once and it didn’t look that appealing for just one day.
Thanks so much for your advice!

Portillo Aeropuerto Bus Posted: Tue May 26, 2009 01:51 PM UTC
I just need to confirm some advice I have given on the Portillo airport bus to Marbella (haven't taken it myself). As I understand it, during the summer it goes every half hour from just outside arrival and easy to spot(?). But I'm not sure where in Marbella the bus stops and if there is easy access to taxi from there (going to Nueva Andalucia)
Another question from the person I am helping, is if calling the taxi service to order a taxi going back, can they understand English? (This person is nervous to get stuck in Spain and never get home again lol)
Thanks for any help :-)

Weekend things to do Posted: Sun April 5, 2009 12:44 AM UTC
I am coming for a wedding on a Friday in May and have Sat Sun Mon available before flying back from Malaga.
So far what has caught my eye is Ronda, El Torcal and Chorro (is the Camino del Rey open?). We will be visiting the Alhambra before the wedding. I'm open to other sugestions, but also need to know what is practical. We are budget minded and will not be hiring a car (unless you have good reasons to tell me otherwise).
Can these be visited as day trips from Marbella by public transport? Or should we be based in say Malaga?

All about Elviria Posted: Sat March 7, 2009 07:21 PM UTC
Hi to all,
Travelling to Elviria, Marbella within a few weeks. Have a few question would be grateful if someone could offer some advice.
Firstly I wanted to know a little more about Elviria if anyone has been there or knows about the place, are the locals friendly and do I have to brush up on my Spanish. :)
How far would it be to travel to Marbella town from the above location? And where is the best place to go clubbing? If anyone has further suggestion…. i.e. things to do and see I would love to hear it.
Thanks. x

Marbella Alternative Posted: Mon February 9, 2009 07:32 PM UTC
We've been invited to a wedding in Marbella in May and we plan to stay two weeks there.
However, having been there before we thought we might split the trip and spend a few days somewhere nearby but different. We'll be flying in and out of Malaga.
Any suggestions?

Nightclub in Puerto Banus for the older generation Posted: Sat September 20, 2008 07:42 PM UTC
Could anyone recommend some good nightclubs in Puerto Banus for the older generation. Somewhere where there is good music (not heavy thumping club mixes) but good Spanish music, a lively dance floor and a tastier mix of older, more affluent men :-)

Day trips, weather etc Posted: Tue September 16, 2008 04:02 PM UTC
Hi VT,
I'm going to Marbella on 10 October for a week. I wanted to surprise my girlfriend with a day trip to Tangier from there but we're staying in a hostel and they haven't provided me with any information on booking a tour. Does anybody know of any tour companies or even a hotel in Marbella (we're staying in the old town) that I can book a day trip from. Is it worth going or is it too much driving and too touristy? I'd prefer to organise it myself to be honest but since we don't have a car this might be too difficult.
Alternatively, can somebody recommend another lovely little day trip to do or even something around Marbella?
Also, what's the weather like at this time of year? According to climate charts on the internet it's low twenties but somebody told me it's hotter?
Thanks very much.

Getting around and about from San Pedro Posted: Sun September 14, 2008 12:33 PM UTC
Hi,
Going to San Pedro (Cortijo Blanco) 10th October. Last time we went to Puerto Banus by bus and taxi back. Would like to go to Marbella but think it would be too expensive by taxi.. I beleive we can get the bus, but wondering if there is a train station at San Pedro?? and if so where is it (roughly) and where can we get to by train from here.
Thanks

Free Marbella Street Parking Posted: Wed July 16, 2008 12:06 PM UTC
Hi
I've booked a hire car from the airport to Marbella as I couldn't figure out how I would get there, I arrive at 02.00 in the morning!
Is there free parking on the streets anywhere, and if so can you recommend anywhere central-ish?
Really appreciate your insider knowledge.
Thanks

Marbella to San Pedro by bus Posted: Tue July 8, 2008 12:51 PM UTC
Hi
Can anyone give me an idea of how long the journey takes from the centre of Marbella to the bus station in San Pedro?
I see from the map that the distnace is 10km but it's difficult to guess the journey time without knowing the traffic situation etc.
Thanks for any feedback.

Car hire Posted: Fri July 4, 2008 08:03 AM UTC
We will be without car for the last half of our stay, and are looking into hiring a car. It seems however that all good deals are pick-up and leave at Malaga airport. Is there any way to get a good deal picking up the car in Marbella and then leaving it at Malaga airport? Or even better, picking it up at Nueva Andalucia or Puerto Banus?

Scuba Diving in Marbella/Puerto Banus Posted: Wed April 23, 2008 10:26 AM UTC
Hi
Is there anybody who could give me some info on Scuba diving centres/schools in the Puerto Banus area?. I have heard there is one called 'the happy divers' somewhere around there. Are there any others that anyone can recommend and do they have English speaking guides/instructors? We will be staying not far from the Puerto Banus harbour and the divers amongst our party would prefer a place that is 'safe' yet 'close to home' if possible.
Anyone have any info to give or comments to make?
Thanks for your help.

I'll be in Marbella for 3 weeks this September with my fiance, we have a place to stay but are looking for neat places to visit, eat, and just take a nice walk. We are on a budget-if you have any suggestions for innexpensive places to go, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

How good is the grasp of English in Marbella? Posted: Sat January 26, 2008 05:19 PM UTC
Hello,
I really like foreign languages (I'm German and am fluent at English and French), but right now I'm in college and don't really have much time to learn a new language if I dont want to risk dropping out (or not havin any free-time!) ;-(.
However, I'm really interested in Spain. I've been to Valencia before, which I loved and Marbella seems like a great place, too.
I just read that people who move to Marbella usually don't have to rush to learn Spanish, because there are so many English-speaking expatriates around and most Spanish people there can speak some English, too (though people like if you at least make the attempt to speak their language).
Is the grasp of English really quite good in Marbella or was that an exaggeration? Does the average person in Marbella speak some basic English?

Marbella Marriott Location Posted: Mon January 14, 2008 06:27 AM UTC
Is it possible to walk from the Marbella Marriott to shops, market or restaurants. We have a choice of staying at the Marbella Marriott or the Andaluza Marriott and want to know if either are in good locations for walking in a nice area.
It appears that the Andaluza Marriott rooms are bigger and perhaps the resort is nicer, but may be in a poor location. Is the Marbella resort any better? Thanks
